  1. Love your post - down to earth and realistic - our son moved over last year after completing Uni in the UK, he is working, but wants to return to Uni for some more qualifications and work part time (as students do). He has PR as he was included on our visa, but I'm not sure how that effects Uni funding and loans. it sounds like you're reaping the rewards of your hard work.
  2. you can't tell someone to resign or you'll take disciplinary action - either you take it or not - Good Luck!
  3. Hi, we have had to rent out our property in the UK and will need landlord insurance. Does anyone have any recommendations? thanks Cal2
  4. Can be done, but it will depend on a lot and I mean a lot of factors - 1. the medication is expensive, there is no doubt about that, of that I am certain 2. they will want to know if the kidney fails - will someone else step up and offer theirs - i.e. live donor from a family member 3. it has to be ensured that your mum won't become a burden on the Australian health system - so what can she contribute, does she have specialist skills that Australia lacks it has been done, but I don't know how old your mum is - so it's difficult to advise - definitely get a specialist immigration lawyer good luck Cal
  5. if you have cover even as a 457 holder - you will qualify for life time cover when you get PR, or at least thats how it seems to have worked for us. You need to get cover within 1 year of arriving to qualify if you're over 30 for the loading value to be set at the same as if you had insurance before you were 31 - if that makes sense
  6. promotion is fine, but they will need to let immigration know by letter - get it pre approved as such, as for pay, they need to pay you the same as anyone else doing the same or similar job, they can't pay you less. Maybe you don't want it, but if you want PR, they will be sponsoring you and on a 457, they can pretty much let you go anytime
  7. she isn't saying they're not in a proper relationship - she says they're supposed to have worked it out but it all takes times - you have options londonmanly - good luck
  8. some banks on-line may have a mortgage calculator for you to get a rough estimate Cal2
  9. Ok - it's tax related, but I'll try and keep it simple so I don't get confused!!! 1) UK pensions - pay tax in UK, do we declare here and pay tax here (Australia) as well as UK? if so, what do we pay where? We are now on PR. 2) UK House rented out (at small loss) - do we declare here? How does this work? thanks for any help / advice Cal2
  10. just reading StevenLozza post it appears that if you have been charged with any offence you need to declare it, and certainly the UK offence is classed as a charge and conviction - not sure about the Australian side, I'd be tempted to consult an MA
  11. I would think so, but presumably you haven't spent the money so you can pay it back - I don't know of anyone who hasn't been told to pay back on over pay - maybe someone else would know.
  12. a pack is a great idea, worked for us, shows you're organised, can you get a reference from your OH employer? Also when you've got a rental come back and get all the information on not getting ripped off! good luck Cal2
  13. you can get pre pay if that helps - lots do pre pay

    Help!!

I'd suggest looking at your qualifications and see if you qualify for PR, which would probably be your best option. Proving you as a couple would be things like a list of your relationship, i.e. when you met, where you've been together, photos, rental agreements, anything joint i.e. bills etc - search on this site for details on proving a relationship I'm sure there will be plenty of advice good luck Cal
  15. yes, me too, maybe any papers lodged at court may help good luck Cal
  16. Can you get divorced? That maybe your best option, separated really doesn't mean anything - you could get back together - in the same way people have to show a de facto relationship, the same you must show you're not in a relationship. I fyou read some of the past posts on here, people have to show details of children from past relationships etc, etc it's all to do with who may come in on your visa at a later date.
  17. just in the middle of getting one done, a good time to get one put in as the companies tend to be less busy this time of year as oppose to prior to Xmas - freeform pool, fair few bells and whistles, but about 30k including concrete and fencing, wiring for solar - no problems with dig or access as using up land at the side of the house. Cal
  18. as the Aussies say love it (Australia or UK) or leave it - tax is tax, although I'm surprised that you would get taxed in the UK, if you've paid it over here - but I'm no expert, sorry
  19. Can I just ask why you haven't got an Australian driving licence - it's pretty much your best form of ID after passport?
  20. I'd contact them and ask

    please help!!

how awful, but tbh it should be routine, it is bad that you have no managerial support, I would definitely contact your union, good luck
  22. Hi, our son is moving over in August, after finishing University in the UK, we want to start moving across clothing and other bits that he doesn't need in the UK any more - who would you use - what would you do thanks Caroline
  23. can I suggest that you make sure your user name is no way identifiable to you and if thats a photo of your child (gorgeous as he is), you change, these things can be traced and used to find information on you, Im not wanting you to be paranoid, just safe Cal2
  24. our son stayed behind and is finishing his degree in the UK, comes over about twice a year, we all decided this together and he's been well supported by family and friends in the UK and comes over about twice a year - not easy, but doable. We were on a 457, now we have PR, so he's wondering about doing a law degree here.
  25. I'd get tied into your contract that they'll sponsor you for PR, they can do that, it's what we did
