  1. Hi, We're wanting to transfer funds from our Australian account to the UK as we're in the UK for the foreseeable future - its a decent amount from our house sale, super, savings & final pay - obviously transferring between banks is an option but not a very good rate - just looking for other better and SAFE ways with perhaps better rates thanks

    PCR Tests

It appears that PCRs are being phased out - not needed to leave Australia or transit via Singapore and Helsinki, not needed for entry to the UK. Not required on Qantas or Finair - that's today - tomorrow it could all be different!

  14. Im trying to get my no claims discount from my car insurers, but they say they can only supply details that I have the time I was with them. The lady didn't sound like she really knew what I was talking about. I need it for my UK car Insurance. Does anyone know how to get details on your Australian no claims thanks

  16. Hi, not sure if I should ask on here as well as on the returning to UK section - we're flying our two border terriers back to Manchester from Brisbane - looking for recommendations please. I've also heard that they have to fly within a certain time period that we leave I think I heard 4 days, is this right? If so, does it matter if family will be collecting them at the other end? thanks Cal

  18. Maybe ask the specialist on the three moving your car to OZ - he might have an idea about the pros and cons of taking it back too
  19. We're wanting to bring our dogs back from Australia to the UK, does PetAir do Australia to the UK? If not, any recommended companies, Brisbane is our nearest international airport and we're looking to return end of March/early April thanks
  20. Hi, we're selling our house in QLD before returning to the UK - the agents have said that because its over $750k we need to complete an overseas resident form (yes, it sounds more complicated than it is and I totally understand why the form has to be completed), but the agents suggests seeking the advice of our tax agent or a solicitor. The form looks pretty straight forward though - can we just do it ourselves? Secondly what tax implications are there when selling a house here and returning to the UK? We won't necessarily need to transfer the money straight away TIA Cal
  21. we've now brought the timeline forward mainly due to the covid debacle - hopefully heading back next year
  22. Thanks NicF - thats exactly what he's done - all sorted now thanks
  23. thanks - I'll pass this info on - we already use Wise so Monzo sounds like a good option
