  4. Wonderful weather in my opinion! Am loving it! REMEMBER TO SLIP! SLAP! SLOP! Just beware the native creatures love this weather as we discovered last night when we found a brown snake in the garden!
  5. Our thoughts are with you! be strong and take care.
  6. Our shoes were not dirty, we gave them a wipe and quick spray with jeyes and sealed the box!! no problems at all through customs!! Gary
  7. Get well soon! you can give your fingers a long deserved rest!! Gary
  8. Funnily have just been reading through after posting on the original!! i deleted my original response as after reading all that's been written I really don't feel I should or have the right to intervene on relationship matters!! Whatever the outcome what will be will be and I wish all parties involved in this the best of luck. Gary
  9. I'm no migration agent but if your dream is to get here you need to grab the bull by the horns and do it! if you run the risk of waiting for a second offer you may have a long wait! once your over hear you can establish yourselves and look into the prospect of PR. Thats strictly my opinion as it seems its getting harder and harder to obtain the golden tickets to the wonka factory nowadays!!! I hope you make the decision that's right for you. Good luck Gary
  10. Relax and enjoy your last weeks in blighty! you will soon be reunited to start your new life, I was on my own here until Sue arrived and although I loved being here our new life didn't start till she arrived! I'm sure this will be the same for you guys, keep positive and embrace life here you won't ever look back! good luck in your future. Gary
  11. Completely agree and as the saying goes you wouldn't buy a car without a test drive but many come here completely blind to it!
  12. No matter where you live health and family must surely comes first!!! but it's all entwined with where you live etc etc. For instance you come to Australia because it improves your health with the climate which also benefits your family! it could be all the above but with the move you land your dream job which improves all if the above further with financial stability and securing your future! On the other hand you could do all the above and still not feel it benefits any if them and lead you to your original destination!! Vicious circle I'm afraid! I lost my job 8 wks ago but I'm happy, my wife's happy, the bump is happy and we know we never felt this content in the UK, each to there own and everyone has a different opinion and outlook!!
  13. Hi Ali, From our experience I found the job hunting before we emigrated to be mainly dead ends with responses similar to yours or being told to contact them when you arrive here! needless to say when I contacted them on arrival the positions had been filled with no forthcoming recruitment drives!! Never the less we chanced it with nothing booked apart from a 2 week holiday let! we was just itching to leave the UK behind and start a new life and away we went!! I hammered the recruitment agencies and was working within 2wks which led to a permanent job. We also secured a rental in Rockingham within that 2wks also without jobs, we was renting for 2yrs previous to emigrating so we had a reference made up from the agent before leaving and opened a NAB account and transferred funds into it, showing the reference and certified bank statement satisfied there needs along with 2 further references which we indicated on the forms, if you put downs people you know here it will speed it up. The only other thing we did was to place 8wks rent down on top on the deposit and we was away ( adding the extra really does help as its the owner of the rental that decides who lives there and not the agent!) so it's selling yourself to them and showing you have the funds! bit of a rant but hope it makes sense? Good luck Gary
  14. I love deliverance! tell me more I want to know where I can stumble on these events!! ive just booked to go back down to near Margaret river again for next weekend, I see duelling banjos a plenty lol
  15. One snag though - I'd like daylight saving hours so i could sit on the beach every night and watch the sun go down!! Miss it if i work late- most amazing sunsets ive ever seen!!
  16. All sounds great but i like the quiet life!! I will go one day and have a gander!! Im living my dream - had the ups!! had the downs!! but its balancing out now - just enjoy chilling out on the beach or in the cafes/bars (wrong way around) but mainly we came here to live simple and relax i slowly i think we are achieving that - Must be doing right as we are in our 40's and discovered we are pregnant!! and not to a party keg but to an actual baby with little arms and legs and everything!!! Maybe i've chilled to much and its now leading to a nervous breakdown when the little blighter is born lol !!
  17. I wish it was!! Drove there from Rockingham back in July it took 8hrs non stop driving!!! Amazing place - Cape la Grande national park is simply stunnimg with the kangeroos on the beach in both Lucky Bay and Rossiter beach! Shame my boss called me while we were there and ordered i return to work and my holiday cancelled due to a major cock up on site which was nothing to do with me!!! Oh well may return there one day!! As for Perth what can i say!!! We moved to this beautiful country and the nearest ive been to the city was when i got off the plane! I suppose one day i shall go there too!! Gary
  18. We arrived in February this year. Shipped 8 boxes and sold everything else on eBay, facebay and car bootys! We bought everything brand new here within 2 months and we actually feel we got some great bargains and created a great new home. It depends how attached you are to your belongings! In our case it was just new start new everything!! Gary & Sue
  19. Hi paddy, Best and easiest way to commute to the city is by train! takes about 40mins from rockingham station, 45 from baldivis, both are easily accessible from safety bay. Safety bay seems really nice and quiet but haven't really explored it. Saying that your on rockinghams doorstep, plenty of cafes and eating places, good shopping centre etc. we live in rockingham and if you'd like any info pm me and I can see what I can do to help mate. Gary & Sue

Good to hear other positive posts gary & sue

  23. Spot on hahaha!!!!! Had to link that to my Facebook ????
  24. Hi there, The best advice to start is to get free advice from a migration agent, you can usually get 20mins free with them! Your evidence for your trade is to write a full essay of your working career! You need to supply references and trade certificates, mine was with vetassess but I believe it may be the TRA now, if successful then you need to do a practical assessment before applying for state sponsorship then the visa! So much seems to have changed in the last 12 months with the process but I'm sure these items will still be required. Check the sol lists for plastering trades first to see if they are still in demand. If your stuck sent me a pm and ill see if I can send you my bricklaying assessment which may give you a better idea etc. good luck Gary
