    Batemans Bay

Hi. I am an Aussie living in the UK. I am married to a Yorkshire lass and we have 2 small boys. We are thinking of upping stumps and moving to Batemans Bay NSW. We are pretty well set up in the UK. Are pretty certain that this is the move for us but we would value any tips or comments bad and good about living in Aus. Once we leave the UK it would be tough to get back in my line of work. Thanks:mask:

    Hervey Bay

Yippee - our 457 visa's have been granted today and we are booking our flights to come out to Hervey Bay at the end of November - looking forward to Christmas time in the sun. Can anyone advise as to places to rent either in Hervey Bay or the surrounding suburbs. I have looked at all the retail web sites but you can't really get a feel for places from them. My husband will have a car for work but until we are settled I will either be walking or using public transport so don't want to be too far out. Also, advice on places to shop, supermarkets etc would be greatly appreciated. If there are any users over there who live locally, we would love to meet up. We have two children aged 13 and 2 and are so looking forward to the move. See you all soon xxx

Hi, my family and I are moving to Hervey Bay next year and I wondered if anyone there had information on pre shools as I have a 4 year old who would have started school in the Uk in September but now will have to wait till she is 6 in Oz. She is so active that I need to find something for her to do ? Are there any leisure centres that do classes etc for the young ones? thanks Tez

    Deception Bay

HI Still awaiting for our agent to sort everything out, but we have one question to ask. We have been looking into the regions surrounding Brisbane and like the look of Deception Bay. Is there anybody in this forum who moved there on near there, or maybe be a local, to tell us what it's like and what the schools are like. Very interested in this area, look foward to some information. 8)
  6. Hi there, Can anyone give me an idea of nice areas to live and school etc. We are looking at Medowie, Raymond Terrace, Salamander Bay and Nelson Bay areas. We will be looking for quiet areas to live with good schools. We also need lots of things to do for our children (aged between 9 and 15 by that point). Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Moving to Safety Bay January 2013

Hi all We have booked our holiday rental in Safety Bay and wanted to know any of the usual stuff on the place. I have had a search and there isn't much about the place on the forum. We got a great deal on the rental and its 10 mins to the beach - ideal! Have heard that commute into city can be a bit of a prob though. Would love to hear from any in nearby areas as we are new to posting on the forum. Thanks Paddy

    safety bay to baldivis

we have been looking at rentals around the safety bay waikiki and baldivis areas. would like some inside info on these areas. we're after a relatively quiet neighbourhood for us to settle in coz in the not to distant future our 18 and 19 year old son and daughter will want to be fleeing the prefurbial nest. we visited these areas on our reccie there in nov 08 and we really did take it to our hearts. but that was while we were in holiday mode. we would like to know what these areas are really like. i know that you can sometimes get a good idea of an area by the look of it and plus your gut feeling and first impressions are also a good sign . looking forward to some good replies..... rob and denise:biggrin:
  12. I managed to get up by 9 am today - got to stick to that, keep to a 9-5 routine even if I'm not working. I did have an interview at 11am but they rang to cancel it. The bludger in me was secretly relieved and almost went back to bed to celebrate. Well, applied for a couple more jobs, spent a heap of time on here - unpaid voluntary work keeping my typing speeds up. T bone steak, chips, salad & a schooner of Carlton Black last night for $15 at the RSL. Got a Pataks Balti sauce and some chicken to make a curry up tonight. Funny, I see that Pataks is made in the UK, not here, so why does a curry taste 'better' in UK? 'Bludger' without 'Dole' in front of it is no fun - like 'chips' without 'fish!'

    Albany, WA

    - Frenchmans Bay Road in Albany has The Gap, The Natural Bridge and a Blowhole We checked this out when in the area, very cool! - Whale World - exhibitions of whale hunting and was the place where whale hunting and butchering took place.
  16. I'm timid in the surf so I prefer the harbour beaches, Clovelly, or the ocean pools that many of the surf beaches have. They took the shark nets up at Neilsen Park & Parsley Bay back in May & they've put them back for the spring/summer now. It does not matter what you want from a beach, Sydney has them all - big, brash, crowded - Bondi, Manly, Coogee, Cronulla, just as big or bigger but not so brash & crowded - Maroubra, Narrabeen, Long Reef, smaller but still with good surf - Bronte, Tamarama, Freshwater. Family friendly - Clovelly or any of the harbour beaches, Neilsen Park, Watsons Bay, Redleaf, Camp Cove, Lady Jane, Balmoral, Clontarf. Plus all the other ones - Palm, Bilgola, Whale, Avalon, Mona Vale, Newport, Warriewood, Collaroy at the southern end of Narrabeen, North Narrabeen at the northern end, Curl Curl, Queensliff. I've still not been to Fairy Bower or Shelley @ Manly. Little Bay, La Perouse, Bundeena. Cronulla also inludes Eloura & Wanda? I suppose strictly speaking Manly is South & North Steyne and isn't there a shark proof beach by the ferry? Bottom line is, if you can't find what you want in Sydney you never will anywhere else!

  19. I'm a midwife with a job offer in Redland Bay and not sure where to live, have been recommended Cleveland and Wellington Point, any other ideas or thoughts on these places. I have a husband who's a bricky and plasterer and two children, who'll be 7 and 4 by the time we get there. Thanks Sam
  20. Dear Pomsinoz We are hoping to move to Queensland later in the year once my husband has been through the process of applying to the Royal College and our visas are obtained. His job is due to begin in August but there have been a few delays so it may now be October. The two main areas he will be based between are Bundaberg and Hervey Bay. We have looked at both and are thinking of the Hervey Bay area as our 12 year old wants to be close to the beach and our 1 year old loves the sand. Does anyone know anything about Dundowran Beach? I have looked at different suburbs around Hervey Bay and like the look of this one but there is only so much you can do via the internet. On a seperate note, does anyone know much about Fraser Coast Anglican College? This is the one we all like the look of and I would appreciate it if anyone who knows the area could let me know what it's like Looking forward to a sunnier future

    North Sydney V's Neutral Bay

Hi All, My family and I have just moved to Sydney and currently living in Milsons Point. We have a 5 year old son which we need to get into school and the 2 nearest schools to us are North Sydney and Neutral Bay (although we don't live in the catchment area currently). We need to move from the place we are at in a few weeks and were wondering if any of you have kids at either of the 2 schools so you could give me your opinion on them. Also whats the price of rent in the area's?? We also have a 2 year old which we will need to put in to nursery once I return to work. What are the prices like for all day care in those areas? Or can anyone recommend a nanny/baby sitting service? Any help is appreciated. Vikki

    Hervey Bay, Queensland

Hi my daughter is in year 10 in UK high school. We are planning on coming to Hervey Bay next year when she has completed her education and taken her exams. She will be 16 years old then, would she be able to enrole in a TAF the following year Feb 2013 and get on a course using her UK exam results?? She has citizenship via descent as I was born in Oz, we wont have to pay TAF fees because of this, im sure. Will need to check out primary schools too as have a 6 year old son and also a young daughter who will be ready for kindergarten when we move. Thank you for any replies.
