  1. As it depends very much on the individual TAFE or private college or state, therefore contact them direct, most are accommodating If you want to see more related info http://www.myfuture.edu.au
  2. Probably would, for similar subjects. When applying you need to provide AAT transcript plus subject descriptions which are then used to assess recognition of prior learning RPL.
  3. Oz apprenticeships are generally 4 years with part time training at TAFE or registered training organisations, yet completion rates are not great (though probably improved past few years). International student trades training, which must be full time, is generally a two year program (trade certificate packaged with management), then most graduates are eligible for Job Ready test. Depending upon the city, in addition to TAFE (& Skills Institute in QLD), Melbourne has several private colleges in addition to TAFEs offering same courses. Difference is that often their fees are not only slightly lower, put flexible fee payment systems e.g. monthly, quarterly etc.
  4. ‘A Guide to Property Values 2012’ by Victoria’s Valuer General was released July 5. It has been comprehensively ignored. The report dissects property transfers and prices lodged with the titles office. This dataset is the actuals, the definitive historical record, and is what scholars of the future will use to examine The Great Australian Land Bubble. “The property market in Victoria showed an overall downward trend during 2012”, says Robert Marsh Victorian Valuer General. Story on MacroBusiness 'The Real Word on Melbourne House Prices'.
  5. Work visas rorted with help of lengthy jobs list "Singer, potter, caravan park manager, grape grower – they are among almost 750 occupations eligible for the 457 visa program to fill skill shortages in Australia. Workplace experts who have made submissions to the government on the legislation – expected to be voted on in Parliament on Tuesday – say the list must be culled to reduce rorting. A Senate report tabled on Monday recommended passing the new laws to deter what the government says is the growing misuse of the temporary skilled worker visa system. The laws, proposed by Immigration Minister Brendan O'Connor (whose brother heads the powerful CMFEU union), include mandatory advertising and other activities to prove that a job was first offered in Australia; empowering 300 Fair Work Ombudsman inspectors to police rorting of the scheme; and giving a 457 worker who loses his or her sponsorship 90 days to find a new position, instead of the current 28." More xenophobia from our ageing white Australian politicians, media, unions etc. but negative perceptions mostly seem to be based upon personal opinions, biases and anecdotal evidence. This then suggests, indirectly, that Australians are a bunch of losers and have much to be afraid of regarding foreigners, immigration, employment, temporary work visas etc.
  6. My 10 key Australian moments from BBC’s Martin Bryant. The BBC Sydney correspondent reflects upon events witnessed and lessons learned as he leaves the country after six years.
  7. This news report is very misleading, population statistics are an "UN defined statistical anomaly" It does not make a distinction between net overseas migration which includes temporary residents (12/16 months +) such as students, 457s, 2nd year backpackers etc. being described as "immigrants", and permanent immigrants. In other words without long term temporary visitors permanent population would be stagnant. The above newspaper along with "nativists" spruik the idea that there is runaway population growth and immigration, but there is not. Additionally they make a subjective correlation between inflated population data and environmental degradation, infrastructure stress etc. etc., then claim it is fact without evidence (and has more to do how Australians live, not prospective residents outside of Australia). Real estate industry love it too, but how can property prices be stagnant and/or falling if we have supposedly high population growth?
  8. Firstly unclear what students are going to be studying, and which city? Further, depending upon location, there are good fully accredited private colleges who offer vocational (VET) plus some colleges and TAFE offer university degrees. Their fees for international are much lower than state institutions, and they are much more flexible.
  9. The 2013 first quarter Clarius Group skills indicator, or occupation employment demand and skill shortages has been released.http://clarius.com.au/page/knowledge/clarius-skills-indicator/
  10. As Sammy1 says PG is not like high schoolers waiting for official offer for under grad admission based on scores, but simply go direct, and follow them up. Nowadays very flexible and desperate for any student they can get
  11. Before speaking to any uni in Oz (or TAFE who may start degrees) make sure you have both transcript and subject descriptions, plus any related work experience docs for potential credits.
  12. It's possible, not guaranteed, many variables e.g. political/media climate on immigration and population, mostly negative... At minimum you can gain a skill and work in Oz, gain experience, use qualifications and experience elsewhere.
  13. He could always consider a TAFE or private vocational pathway that is both practical and works out cheaper in the long run (plus potential for certification and related employment while studying). see http://joboutlook.gov.au
  14. Word of warning to non residents planning immigration via study, be careful or at least aware that DIAC "in theory" is applying the Genuine Temporary Entrant test to student visa applicants. In theory, if they suspect that you are using study as pathway to immigration they can "in theory" reject your application...... even though it is quite legal to apply for Job Ready Test and then PR...... Plus, I suspect a few enquirers have emailed me directly for Oz study and visa advice from Poms in Oz, all good, but in future we can only give advice to those who declare us as agent, at no cost to you.....
  15. Clarius Skills Index September Quarter 2012 Australia faces a significant shortfall in a number of the nation’s crucial business professional sectors at the heart of driving big business over the next 12 months. The Index reported that growth in labour demand in the Australian economy is primarily occurring in higher-skilled occupations and professionals representing a significant proportion of employment in growth industries.
  16. This should be useful http://www.cpaustralia.com.au click through careers & employment then go onto migration assessment. You can do bridging assessment with recognition of prior learning, depending where you are, if Melbourne or Sydney consider the private higher education colleges whose accounting is recognised by CPA and cheaper than university, plus more flexible in general.

Not sure I understand? I know quite about sound engineering in the music industry. It depends upon what outcome one wants, e.g. acoustic engineering theory and design of a concert hall or hands on twiddling the nobs in a recording studio or grungy pub? A parallel example is Australian film and tv industry directors, none went to university but learnt hands on through the advertising industry making tv ads.
  18. Shock News! Dr. Bob Birrell “anti immigration researcher” of the Centre for Population & Urban Research at Monash University calls for less Temporary Visas, International Students and Immigrants (but British, Irish etc. Backpackers ok?). AUSTRALIA’S major immigration visa subclasses need to be culled to slash record high immigration because the growth of jobs has slowed “to a crawl” and migrants are exploiting the system, according to the Centre for Population and Urban Research…… ….They say once here tens of thousands extend their presence in the labour market by churning from visa to visa. For example, in 2011-12, they say 26,671 overseas students already in Australia were granted a tourist visa….. …
  19. Regarding unemployment figures in Oz the rule of thumb is not to read too much into the official ABS stats which are massaged to make things look better than they really are, while Roy Morgan Research looks at both real unemployment and under employment. Therefore while national ABS stats say bit over over 5%, Roy Morgan finds bit over 10% http://www.roymorgan.com

    uni

TAFE WA is state, he can transfer credits, will he be PR or international? Can continue onto university. Either way cheaper than diving into uni........ PS SAE is not that bad, at least all teachers/trainers are active in the industry vs university.......plus http://joboutlook.gov.au has excellent info on industry and training.

I'd suggest looking at TAFE ETI WA, much cheaper.........
  22. Clarius Skills Index 3rd Quarter June: Demand was highest for senior roles in engineering, corporate services, information technology, sales and marketing. The most in demand workers were engineers with a 8,564 shortage. The shortage for accountants also doubled from a 1,500 shortfall in the March quarter to 3,800 in June.
  23. There are alternative pathways via TAFE (with entry to 2nd year uni) which can make significant savings before committing to (more expensive) university. e.g. in Geelong, Gordon TAFE http://www.thegordon.edu.au/Courses/Pages/AwardCourse.aspx?CourseID=224 and Deakin University.

    MBA in australia

University of Adelaide is a member of the Group of 8 well established research universities, while UniSA and Curtin are newer institutions.
  25. Just ask DIAC directly? Maybe possible to drop back to a non work rights tourist or visitors visa, you can then apply for students visa October November onshore (but no work rights till study commences). Or do related one term/half semester Certificate course starting September, you can then do one study visa application for both courses.
