    Student Visa Help

When you say foundation course you mean university preparation? You can start several times during the year via university, TAFE or private college pathways with the latter being cheapest. Or if career type training vocationa level cheaper again with multiple start points and student visa has work right. If you need more info just PM me.
  6. It is probably why a migration agent in Europe is advising his clients to go on student visa due to long delays on other visas....
  7. I'd suggest whv and/or transfer study credits and/or use intership organisation, for a fee.
  8. Last resort could be studying something useful at private vocational college with low fees e.g. aud2500 half year, student visa gives legal work rights, pt during term, ft vacation, and study + visa is extendable.
  9. Yes it is quite normal, ACU can modify offer/CoE if she does not reach 6 ielts, e,g. defer university one semester and do English beforehand.
  10. Maybe worth looking at idea of being in Oz with work rights legally looking at options face to face with employers such as potential sponsorship etc. through OH doing a half year + formal or non award training on student visa? This could involve rpl i.e. credits going to an Oz award and you as dependent with part time work rights...... if needed you could talk to someone I know at a TAFE who is now in international student admin, but was a chef and trainer in Melbourne who has his finger on the pulse, if not he would know someone who would.....
  11. Have you looked at their website for eligibility and application conditions, plus what is the objective of your study?
  12. Fact is that depending upon how recent data is that many if not majority of Australian apprentices do not complete their training, and many change occupation later e.g. chefs/cooks become managers. Further, most Australians are very short term in outlook and do not understand that without immigration our ageing population will lead to more skill shortages and decreasing tax base to pay for pensions, healthcare etc. Labor were the instigators of the former "White Australia" policy and restrictions in recent years were due to opinion polls and pressure from union movement ot restrict trades based immigration. On the other hand while Howard was publicly demonising refugees, dog whistling etc. his government was quietly allowing high levels of immigration, and not investing in infrastructure.
  13. " Intake of skilled migration putting pressure on Australian families, says Melbourne MP HIGH immigration intakes are fanning negative feelings about asylum seekers and damaging national unity, a Labor MP says. It came as new data reveal that Australia has one of the highest immigration rates in the world. Outspoken Melbourne MP Kelvin Thomson said the tolerance of Australians had been stretched to breaking point by the quadrupling of skilled migration over the past 15 years. ''(This) has generated competition for jobs and housing and put pressure on family living standards,'' Mr Thomson said...... From 2005-10, Australia's net migration was 11.1 people per 1000 population, compared with only 6.6 for Canada, which is a similar high migration country..... Australia's net annual migrant intake was 234,000 over the five-year period, but is expected to fall to 174,000 during 2010-15. This will mean a migration rate of 7.7 people per 1000 population, compared with 6.6 for Singapore, 5.6 for Canada, 3.1 for the US and 7.9 for Hong Kong.... But Committee for Melbourne CEO Andrew MacLeod said cutting skilled arrivals would put local jobs and economic growth at risk. ''Rather than going on such flights of fancy, we should be putting pressure on our politicians to invest in the infrastructure needed for a growing population,'' he said....." News Limited December 2011 More misinformed anti immigration propaganda from Australian media and politicians.... net overseas migration includes both returning Australian citizens and residents, plus international students on temporaray study visa of over one year.... skilled and permanent immigrants are just one component...... But do not let facts get in the way of a good rant against foreigners immigrants etc.... I would add, the statistical definition changed in 2006 to include the above via Net Overseas Migration being calculated via difference between arrivals and departures...... Australia needs more people with baisc mathematical and analytical skills.... Welcome to Australia :skeptical:
  14. They are comparable and fees for international vary, e.g. TAFE or private college Aud3500+ per half year, more info see http://www.myfuture.edu.au ps students have work rights too, pt during term, full time during vacation
  15. <p>You could look at <a href="http://www.myfuture.edu.au" rel="external nofollow">myfuture: Australia's career information service</a> and these days with high fees foruni I would strongly suggest study further education and work part time. Do not think a university course in journalism is any guarantee or pathway to a journalism career. Which city are you planning? PS I know the Visa unit we placed sopme stuy candidate but have not heard from them for some time..... PS our services i.e. study placement etc. are free <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p>

  16. <p>The fees would be for three years full time paid half yearly, international cannot study part time <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /></p>

  17. This multimedia link I stumbled across maybe of interest: Australian Migrant Stories - Multiculturalism is an integral part of the nations fabric, with 23% of the population born overseas. The migrants made Australia their home for a variety of reasons. But as they age, they sometimes face a unique set of problems not encountered by the Australia born, including isolation, language difficulties and an inability to access essential health, transport and social services. Age reporters and photographers record the views of the now elderly migrants who left homes and families as young men and women to start a new life in Australia. Migrant Stories - The Age
