If you send an e-mail to AHPRA voa the main website asking for confirmation of receipt, they should get back to you and tell you. Failing that, phone them and ask to be put through to the office that you sent the papers too and ask them direct.

yorkcath
After a year of waiting I've finally got my eligibility letter! They want me to come to AHPRA with ID and criminal background checks. I happen to be on holiday in oz at the mo and I wasn't planning to go to Melbourne. I have my passport and I have a criminal background check that I got for working with children (in Fiji) but only cost 10 pounds - it's not the 40 pound comprehensive one that the UK hospitals do. Is this enough (probably not) or should I just wait until I apply for my Visa as I'm guessing I need checks for that. Many thanks, Cath

daddydaycare
Hi Lesley,I've spoken to a couple of agencies and I'm thinking about Melbourne, Darwin or Adelaide. I've never been to Oz but I love the outdoors and just plan to join everything and immerse myself into the culture. I think Darwin will be too hot and you can't enjoy the beaches unless you want to come up close with a salt water crocodile! It sounds like there's a friendly ex-pat community where ever you go. Considering that we perform life-saving treatments it doesn't get recognised financially or otherwise. They're talking about capping our pay for another 2 years if nurses don't take voluntary redundancy. I used to work in the U.S. where you can earn loads if you do overtime but here you can't even get time owing! Where are you going? I totally agree with you. I have been working in the NHS as a psychiatric nurse at one of the three special hospitals (prison hospitals) here. never did i think even in such a dangerous environment will we face massive cuts. Out of the blues we where told that they want to reduce the number of frontline band 6's by half. we where offered voluntary redundancies, face compulsory redundancy or take a massive salary drop. Since I had plans to go down under within a month I had been offered a job at the forensic hospital in melbourne so I applied for the voluntary redundancy. this was approved. I cannot stop thinking"what a waste of money coz with what they paid out they could have easily paid my salary for 18 months. however the AHPRA registration process is a pain, especially getting all those documents together and not mentioning the fees for the notary public to certify the copies, and that IELTS test is a nighmare. But it will soon be over and we can enjoy a bit of an out door life with the kids.
roger2shirts
My wife had an identical situation to Annie Ross, except she is a midwife. It took a year of pratting about before we said enough and went to see our Federal MP who made a phone call to the CEO of AHPRA and it was sorted out within a week. She is now fully registered with "this lot"! If you are in Aus - your Federal MP can help you!
fluffyhead
OMG those few little words have arrived . Just when I was begining to think it would never happen and was considering giving up, the letter arrived yesterday. It has taken approx 8 months and a few more grey hairs to get there, so for all those who are waiting I would say "keep the faith you will get there in the end". Can you apply online? Also im assuming the easiest way to get all the docs verified is to use a notary public? Any ideas on what that should cost? Shes a band 6 in the east mids trauma unit with 11 years registered and 5 years auxiliary training with both diploma and specialist musculoskeletal injuries degree any ideas on what level and salary she should expect in oz? ta

Shes a band 6 in the east mids trauma unit with 11 years registered and 5 years auxiliary training with both diploma and specialist musculoskeletal injuries degree any ideas on what level and salary she should expect in oz? ta Hi AHPRA do not do online applications, your wife will have to download the hard copy and sent it off together with the supporting documents. Verification by a notary public can be quite expensive. I got a quote of £300 to certify 5 documents but in the end i went to the OZ high commission in London and got their notary Public to certify the same doc for £19 a copy, paid £96 in the end. You can also access the notary public at your local magistrate court, i think there they charge about £10 per document, however the waiting is painful. salary wise if you google oz international recruitement agency called heaithstaffrecruitments as one word, they have the tables that will tell you exactly how much your wife should be starting on but its only the basic pay. weekends, pm shifts and night have their own enhancements..for example i have a friend who works in melbourne ( mental health nurse) his basic salary was 64K plus 5k superannuations, but last year when he did his taxes his gross earnings where 98k, the extra came from the shift enhancements and overtime here and there. If you need more info about what docs you need to put together to go with your wifes AHPRA application send me a private message and I will explain to you how I did mine although i am still waiting for it to come thru. cheers

Sara8
Hi friends, would like to transfer application to perth from melbourne. So could anyone know the procedures for that Hi leslinpulickal, You don't need to transfer it to Perth once you get eligibility you just present at the Perth office and they should have it on their system because it is now national so it doesn't matter where you initially apply to. Hope this helps. Sara xxx

daddydaycare
Hi friends, would like to transfer application to perth from melbourne. So could anyone know the procedures for that Hi Melbourne seem to be processing their applications quick, why, initially in January 2012 I sent my application to Darwin NT to avoid sending it to Melbourne as I was told they take ages. But in Feb darwin transferred my application to Melbourne because my job offer is in melbourne. on 20th Feb 2012 Melbourne AHPRA returned the whole of my application to me stating that I had made a mistake in completing the total amount I had to pay. They asked me to complete a new application form and seend it back. I send back a new application on the 27th Feb, they took the payment on the 3rd of march and I received my Eligibility email on 13th feb. So they seem to be processing things much quicker now. You just need to make sure you call them every week for an update.
