    Nurses on 189, 190

    Hi everyone, I've just submitted my EOI. I have 65 points (Registered Nurse, Surgical) and was aiming mainly for 189 but realised I may be waiting for long time so submitted for 190 (NSW) as well. Does anyone have an idea how long would be the waiting process? Do I have better chances with 190? Any recent experiences? Thank you!!

  3. Hi, apologies as I’m sure this has been asked hundreds of times already!! I am just starting to look into the process of a move to Perth from the UK with my partner and 2 children. I have a lot of family already living in Perth and just weighing up our options over there. I am a Registered Children’s Nurse and Health Visitor and my occupation is on the skilled occupation list for both 189 and 190 visas. Ideally it seems the 189 visa would be the best option? According to the points calculator on the Australian Home affairs website I would have 75 points if I pass the superior English tests. Ive been doing a bit of research and am I right in thinking the process is - Pass English language assessment Pass assessment criteria for ANMAC Submit EOI If invite is offered to apply for the visa then arrange health checks, police checks, ID checks, etc. Can anyone recommend any migration agents? Or know of any that give a free consultation before starting the process? Are there any Health Visitors that have made the move to Oz and are currently working in a similar role? Are there many Community Child Health Nurse jobs in Perth? Any advice would be appreciated! Please direct me If these questions have already been answered on another post
  4. Hello all, I am a nurse and I writing to see if I qualify for a Medium Stream temporary skill shortage. I have an australian positive skills assessment and interest from an employer (potential for sponsorship is being sought). I have one year's post qualifying experience. I trained in the UK and worked in the field as a band 3 throughout my training. Does my positive skills assessment allow me to be accepted on a TSS visa or do I need another year's experience?     Nurse looking to come to OZ with WHV

    Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum but just wanted to throw a question out there and possibly get some Info so I apologise if this has already been posted. I am a qualified adult nurse at degree level from England, I currently have just over a year post qualification experience in Emergency Department but will have around 2 years by the time I am am looking to actually move over to Oz. I have family In Melbourne so would be looking to go there, I am currently looking at the working holiday visa as my best option but I was wondering how those of you who have already moved or are in the process have found getting jobs? Have you gone through agencies? And are there any better ones to look at? Also what are wages like for agency workers as they dont seem advertise this info. Any extra Info or advice is also appreciated TIA

  9. Hi guys! I am a Nursing student and I am planning to apply for skilled visa as soon as I finish my studies. In order to secure visa process I would like to get superior English result. Can you please tell me if anyone succeeded to gain all "A" in OET? Is it possible? I prefer this one as it is specific to nursing, but I have some doubts if it is possible to get all As. Or maybe PET is a better choice as it is needed to get more than 79 in all parts which sounds a bit more realistic. Can you please share your experience about these two tests? Thanks!

    190 NSW Visa - Nursing

    Hi there, I'm new to the forum, It's really interesting reading everyone's experiences and tips. I am a newly qualified nurse (4 months working), wanting to apply for a 190 NSW visa - I wondered if anyone knew what the chances are of it being granted it with only 65 points? (Age 36 = 25 points, English language = 20 points, degree = 15 points, NSW sponsorship = 5 points). I lived in Perth for 2 years several years ago, and am desperate to get out of London and back to the sun!.. But very nervous of spending so much money with no guarantee of the visa being granted. I have contacted several visa agents, and have been told they've had similar cases granted for 190 NSW. But not sure that I can trust them! Thanks so much in advance for any help, Sophie

    I work for the NHS as a clinical nursing assistant in the community and was wondering if there was jobs like this in Aus. If so how easy would it be for me to get a job and get sponsored. I am looking at coming out next year on the working holiday visa for two years and then stay after then and work in this field.

Regard to the assessment of a minimum 3 years, international work experience; My work experience was 34 months in Emergency Nursing (ANZACO code: 254415) and 2 months as a Nurse Coordinator (ANZACO code: 254499). Can two different roles of nursing experience be combined as minimum of 36 months work experience to access the five points for migration. Also, which ANZACO should I submit ?

  14. Hello this is my first post on my own, so apologies for asking something someone may have already asked. I received my positive nursing skills assessment from ANMAC at 2am Thurs morning, and put in my Expression of Interest onto the immigration page for the 189 Skilled Visa by 3am!!. I am a Registered Nurse Surgical (254424) and know that I am cutting it fine before I turn 40 in July and lose points. My question was - How long do people think I might have to wait to be invited? I know that nurses have not reached their occupation ceiling yet. What do I need to scan ready to upload or get certified if I am invited? Do you think when I am invited it is best to do medical and police checks and front load them? It is just me on the visa, as I am recently widowed, and have marked my application as that.     AGOS 40 Form

    Hello guys, I'm not sure if this is the right section for posting, so apologies in advance if it's not. My partner and I are currently in the process of filling out the AGOS 40 form, to apply for registration as a nurse in Oz. We're currently gathering all the forms and documents which are required, but the only section that we're having a little trouble with is the education transcript. We've spoke to the University where my partner completed her course, but they've come back and asked for an exact list of what is required; they've mentioned a document/attachment that shows what needs to be sent. We have a copy of the Fact Sheet for Criterion 8, which outlines what evidence needs to be supplied in for the units completed in respect of the administration of medication. The Degree certificate also shows all the units completed on the reserve, but we kind of assumed that this is not detailed enough? We're just looking for some guidance on the best way to go about this. Do we send the application with all the evidence we have, and ask the University to send all the documents requested in the Criterion 8 sheet, or is there a definitive list of anything further we need to send?     Nursing in Australia

    I have been a registered nurse for eight years. In this time, I have worked in the hospital system for one year, in a government health organisation for two years and in General Practice for five years. Hospital Nursing The job market in NSW is very lucrative for registered nurses. It really depends on the type of work you want to do. There are plenty of options for hospital work, both in the public and private sector or join an agency and they will slot you in when usual staff go on leave or are sick. I believe agency nurses have a higher rate of pay. Personally, I moved out of the hospitals as I am not suited to that type of shift work and night duty, however this nursing work pays more than community nursing or general practice nursing and has the benefits of extra pay (time and a half) on night shifts and double pay on Sundays and public holidays. There is a huge demand for nurses in hospitals at the moment. Particularly in aged care facilities and rural and remote facilities. I have recently seen on the news that there will be a shortfall of nurses (particularly Enrolled Nurses) in the coming years – so it would appear that the job prospects are just getting better! Community Nursing If you don’t want to be in hospital but still want a clinical focus, you can join community nursing or General Practice. Community nursing is with public or private sector and focuses on wound dressings, home IV medications, or at home injectable medications and health assessments. You have a base (usually in a hospital) but also work in conjuction with the patients GP (e.g. if you are doing a wound dressing and believe the wound to be infected, you will contact the patients GP). Although I have not done this work, anecdotally from community nurses it is fairly cruisey, with a good pay rate and the benefits of no night shifts! General Practice General Practice is my passion. Unlike some countries, patients can go to any GP anywhere and don’t have to register. The practice nurses duties vary depending on the needs of the clinic but general speaking day-to-day activities include chronic disease management, wound care, immunisations (childhood and travel) pap smears (if you are qualified), triage, diagnostic tests (ECG’s, spirometry etc), pathology collection, assistance with procedures, patient education, health assessments, sterilizing and stock control. The rate of pay is negotiable with your employer but base pay is less than hospital nurses as it is governed under a different award. Non-Clinical Work Non-clinical based nursing duties are also prevalent. Jobs such as working with insurance companies who offer a medical assistance hotline; policy development; pharmaceutical representative work are all quite popular and are not governed under nursing award rates so I am unsure of the pay but from what I hear you can negotiate and often come off better than clinical nursing and work a 9-5 Monday – Friday in most cases. Qualifications The Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) ensures all doctors, nurses, midwives, ambulance officers, surgeons etc are registered and have correct qualifications. As a nurse, you will have to do 20 hours per year of continuous professional development (CPD). Make sure you keep a record as people do get audited quite frequently and it is a lot easier if you have a record ready to go. There are rules about what counts toward it but there are always educational events on or online learning tools so it is quite easy. https://www.ahpra.gov.au/ Registration standards http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-Standards.aspx Pay and Governing Bodies Nursing in Australia is governed under the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. The website lists professional standards, awards of pay, registration and endorsement and further study options. Pay is variable dependent on your level of nursing, which is measured on your qualifications (i.e. Assistant in Nursing; Enrolled Nurse; Endorsed Enrolled Nurse; Registered Nurse; Clinical Nurse Educator etc). The next classification is your experience. It is basically on how many years you have been qualified. Pay increases with experience. This ranking goes from first year nurse through to 8 years experience. More than 8 years is classified as “thereafter”. It is then classified into location, (e.g. hospital, community, general practice or non clinical) General Practice nursing is governed but the Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA). There is a fee (I think about $150 annually) to join but you get access to lots of educational materials, phone support and legal advice. Generally speaking, your place of employment covers you for basic indemnity insurance which will cover anything in your position description. It is worthwhile thinking about taking our your own insurance (people in NSW general go for the NSW Nursing and Midwifery Council). We are so lucky to have access and provide healthcare needs to anyone who needs it. Yes, there are waiting lists for things like always and you will need to find a workplace that suits you but it is amazing to be part of a profession where you are in high demand, are able to provide care for people in need in a developed country with some of the leading healthcare facilities is incredible!
  18. Hi All, Is anyone aware of what the equivalent roles are in Aus for Sister, Senior Sister, Matron? Are the roles/responsibilities broadly comparable or does it work a bit differently? Has anyone moved from the UK into one of these sorts of roles in Australia? Or is there generally an expectation that you would find a job as a nurse first, then work your way up? I would be interested in anyone's experience of either stepping down and working their way back up or moving directly into a more senior role, and how they found the transition. We're planning on visiting Brisbane/SC/GC in May and were hoping to visit a couple of hospitals, with a view to meeting someone to discuss what it's like working at the hospital and what sort of vacancies they currently have. Planning on contacting HR and seeing if this is feasible/practical. Has anyone else done this? In terms of searching for available roles, how do people generally go about this? Contact hospitals directly, searching online, applying through agencies? Did anyone managed to secure a role prior to moving out? I'm asking on behalf of my wife, but I'm very interested to hear how it works too, as I've done a fair amount of searching and it doesn't seem entirely clear.     ANMAC experience

    Hi So I’m just working out my points to decide whether it’s an 189 or 190 visa I need to apply for.... it kind of depends on what ANMAC accept as experience. I have worked as a registered nurse for the last 5 years since qualifying with a diploma in nursing, I have recently topped up to a degree in order to apply for a visa so will my previous experience count or only my experience since obtaining the degree? Thanks in advance for anyone who has any info on this ?

I don't know any UK nurses personally to do this for me having nursed in Aus now longer than I did in the UK. Not great options for those of us working out with the UK. Thanks

    Nursing Skilled Visa Help

    Hi everybody, I'm new to the skilled visa forum and would love any and all advice. I am a nurse (in the United States- we don't have a group like this to reach out to ) and I'm already registered with AHPRA. My partner is Australian and we want to move back to Australia this year. I was going to apply for the partner visa, but due to the cost and processing times I was advised that the skilled migrant visa might be the faster and more efficient route. That being said I have a few questions and would love any and all help. Can I travel to and from Australia while waiting for approval? Do I have to be outside of Australia when approved? After being approved was there a certain amount of time that you had to be in Australia by? And finally for nursing.... is it the general skilled visa migration visa 476/887? Sorry I'm asking all of the beginner questions. I found these answers to be much more readily available on the partner visa portion of the immigration website (and maybe that means they are stricter while verifying partner visas? but I have no idea really).     189 visa Registered Nurse (paeds)

    Afternoon all, So i was getting giddy thinking I was all ready to submit my EOI with my 65 points...then I read people under 70 points are on a back log for being invited to apply! I'm struggling to find any nurses though to see if it is the same for us? If need be I can redo my ANMAC to get an extra 5 points but that just delays things and will add to cost! Any one going through or about to go through the application process able to give me any info? Thanks ? Lisa

    AHPRA Registration Certificate

    Hello, Does anyone know how long it takes for the original hard copy of the registration certificate and tax invoice to be posted out please? -Full AHPRA registration finalised 1/6/17 (1st registration) -Office: Melbourne,VIC -My location/postal address: Birmingham, UK I contacted AHPRA as it has been about 7 weeks but they keep giving me the standard response:"A hard copy of your certificate of registration will follow 4 to 6 weeks after the successful completion of your annual renewal of registration; accompanied with this certificate will be your tax invoice/receipt."

    ANMAC Question

    Quick question, am I right in thinking once IELTS is passed and a suitable score obtained nurses/midwives etc have to then apply to ANMAC and once the skills assessment is approved then and only then can they apply for a skilled visa? once the visa comes through then AHPRA should be applied to due to the new rules?
