  1. Thank you all for your comments, it feels so good to hear from other people who have been in a similar situation and from a variety of situations where it has worked - whether that he staying here in Australia or moving back to the UK. It’s hard to know what to do and honestly I don’t think there is a right answer - we have dual citizenship now which is a good thing and we will go back next year and I think that will make or break us as you say. Its a a funny feeling to feel this limbo feeling, it’s like I am waiting for something to happen. I wish I could connect more to friends too but I just can’t and that is hard for me and also my husband struggles with it too despite him being very outgoing. If anyone is in Brisbane - I’d be happy to be in touch ?
  2. I have been here 6 1/2 yrs and I still don’t feel settled and like other comments I am struggling to make friends - I know that Brisbane is a better place to live for the kids and yet I can’t shake this feeling of limbo. I wonder if it will ever go away. I haven’t been back for a visit though so think if I go back then I will realise that it isn’t as good as I maybe remember it? I am hoping to visit next year - so you are not alone. Which is good to know ?
  3. We move there in less than 6 weeks so am interested in everyone's posts on this area
  4. Well my family and i applied for a 457 visa, i am the main applicant. I did it online and just waited to hear whether we needed medicals or not, they then asked for me to have medical and chest x-ray but my son and hubbie didn't need either, i would wait and ask what they want in your particular case as they change their mind on this subject from time to time, hoep this helps a little x
  5. Yep good luck, hope it all goes well for you:biggrin:
  6. We are in the same boat too, we have dropped ours 3 times and still nothing, the odd viewing but nothing serious. Ours is a large detached old style like a barn conversion, it seems that the higher end of the market is struggling more than most, getting fed up with it too. Been on the market since March and i think that if no offer in the next 6-8 weeks then we need to rent out as we are leaving at the beginning of January! Stressful times!

    OMG - Our Turn

Probably lots but just do it bit by bit thats all I am doing, one step at a time - congrats! Where abouts in Cumbria are you? I work at Kendal Hospital-moving to Brisbane in January x
  8. Yep I gave mine in last week and I felt the same, happy but torn too. It's a strange feeling isn't it, it is hard to leave what and who you know and when someone came to me today and asked me when my job would be advertised officially, I almost felt protective over it! Will all be worth it though I am sure! x
  9. That's great thanks, was wondering the same as we are travelling with Singapore airlines too and we have a 13month old.
  10. Yes but not everytime, i think that you can get a years worth or more before another check with the Dr.
  11. Well I for one am glad that someone asked the question as I was wondering about it too, can you get a family member from the UK to get a repeat prescription for you and send it over? Someone told me that's what they do but i didn't think you could send medication in the post?

    NHS Pension

I have almost 5 years and was told that you can not get it refunded, it can either be frozen until you retire or you can transfer it to a pension company abroad but it has to meet a criteria. Just give them a ring and see what they say. Hope this helps!
  13. My hubbie says try blowing it out with a bicycle pump or balloon pump? Gutting, get the warranty sent over if not x
  14. You need to get a letter from your high school to state that you were taught in english on letterheaded paper, failing that you need to do the IELTS according to AHPRA
