carob
Hello Richard300. We have gone for the CPV143 visa, which is the expensive one, but we should be granted it in 18-24 months ( we are hoping for it a bit earlier, being eternal optimists!!). We then get perm res immediately. The cheaper visa has a very long wait, probably 12-15 years. We were not happy to be in 'no man's land' and sort of non-people whilst we waited. Then as previously stated, there is another medical just before the grant, which could be tricky. However, we are a lot older than your MIL, and thought we might not be around to to get the visa!! regards, C
Freesia
people are getting the 143 in closer to 12-15 months surely? that's the DIAC estimate anyway ...not heard of anyone waiting anywhere near that long !
carob
I was giving the worst case scenario I think. However, your news has cheered us up. We have to do police checks "10 months from June 2013 and the meds. 12 months" from then as well. I have to say I was thinking Sept. 2014 for grant of visa, with a bit of luck. Thanks for your help. carob
Hi Freesia, thanks, yes we will stay optimistic. Next dilemma - when to put our house on the market? Probably have to wait for the prices to zoom up!! C.
Freesia
oooh that could be a couple of years- mine's on now- this is the worst task for me, it's always such a long drawn-out business even if you sell fairly quickly. If you benefited from the last boom as I did, consider yourself lucky & don't bank on it happening again. That's my philosophy anyway (since I can't be doing with renting it out !) Mozza
Hi, We are in the final stages of the Visa 143 application, but it is the AOS and Centre Link which is taking the longest. My son in law is self employed and Centre Link gave them incorrect information. So I have copied the information we received from our Visa Agent re: income and hope it might be helpful for anyone who is nearing this stage of their applications. Mozza
Our house has been on the market for over 12 months, we have even change estate agents. We received an offer on our house, which was really low but we managed to negotiate and agreed an acceptable offer. We even instructed Solicitors, and then found out our potential buyers were struggling to raise the funds. We are now in limbo as we are in the latter stages of getting our visa's finalised, and hoping our buyers come up with funds so we can move to Adelaide to be near our daughter and grandchildren. Fingers crossed.

I have to say our last three house moves took 15 months or so, but we were hoping the market had picked up. We live in the South East, but I expect each area is different. Cheeky question, you might not wish to answer it!! When are you expecting to get your visa Freesia? Can't locate you on the Chireckles site, which doesn't seem to have moved again for a while. Perhaps DIAC do things in batches?! Poor you Maureen. Regards Carolyn
HarrisL16
Hi I have been looking at your posts we are putting our Cpv 143 in shortly so interested in your timeline, live in Hampshire and the housing market seems to be improving here. We have already had lots of discussions about when to sell the house difficult as we don't want to spend loads on renting I'm sure everyone feels the same! It's great everyone shares info on here

Regards Carolyn well because of the need to sell up before I can afford the 143, I have applied for the 103, then I can at least get longer tourist visas if I need them. Therefore I won't be expecting any progress any time soon. I'll then just swap over when the time's right. The latest 143's have been 14 months though & at such cost that seems about fair to me- any longer would be a darn cheek!
carob
Thanks Freesia. We are in two different boats then, although paddling in the same direction. I can't seem to find out the info you do, what's your secret?! I rely on Chireckles for mine. I suppose the 103 doesn't appear on the site. carob
Good luck HarrisL6 in your quest for the 143 visa. You will also most probably be required to complete the dreaded Form 80, which in some ways is more time consuming than the 143 application, so just to alert you to this challenge. Unfortunately, because we are so old it took some time to assemble the info asked for, one reason being that I had thrown my CV away thinking I would never need it again.!! We also live in Hampshire, so hope you are right about house sales. regards Carolyn

Get so far with questions and then they say ooh it is a specialist one you need to sign up with us. However, I suppose they are running a business and the info they do give out can be very helpful. PhoebeW
Had another pre-Op yesterday for neck surgery & spoke to the Neuro surgeon it's all looking good for this Tuesday  long recovery afterwards but I want to make it positive. Once I'm recovered hubby & I will taking a very long overdue trip to see our family....missed them so much  After my problems this past 2 and half years I am more convinced that I want to move out there.....hubbys also talking a lot more positivly about it, it's always been about the money with him which lets face it is a huge chunk for anyone :swoon:. I've lost track of times for visas etc can anyone tell me if there is much (if any) difference in the times for 173 and 143? We have talked about going for 173 initially to spread the cost. Thanks Phoebe

I thought that you had already applied for your visas, but with regard to the 173, in the long run it does actually cost more I believe, maybe a couple of thousand, but don't quote me!! best of luck for Tuesday. Veronique
It's great everyone shares info on here Hi Harris, Our timeline as follows for 143 visa application lodged June 14th 2013 Money taken out of the bank straight away Acknowledgement 13 weeks later included with the acknowledgement - info re Assurance of support, instructions to email Form 80 and action dates for police clearance and medicals Proposed dates for Medicals after June 2014 Police, Clearance after April 2014 - specific instructions to retain until requested by case officer. But seeing you don't get your medical assessment results as they are sent electronically to IMMI its a bit confusing. At least the dates give you a vague idea although it could still be months before you are allocated a case officer. Hope this helps
