Keep Christmas as is but preferably less commercial but add others to the national calendar to celebrate, like Ramadan, Deevali, Chinese New Year etc and celebrate becoming a multi cultural country in deed. We lived close to the Imam Hussein Islamic Centre in Sydney and my neighbour and myself were invited into the house of our Muslim neighbour during Eid. Delicious food was served. Reminds me of my London 'hood'. But here in Perth I make a point of attending as many festivals as possible. Never miss Chinese New Year, although only a single day here and low key compared to the noise and colour present in Asia. Enjoy the Hindu Devali Festival, where attended three out of the last four, and attend the mosque open days, infrequent though they are. Yet to attend an Eid celebration in Perth, but attempted to a few years back but failed to locate it. It what all adds to an interesting life and finding in part a meaning in our world. Iam sure parley is referring to christs mass ,the birth of Christ . It wasn't even on December the 25th ...but that's another matter . The rest is froth on the capuccino ...father Christmas ( the modern one invented by coca cola in the 30s).....turkey ...consumerism ,its all irrelevant to me .
