  1. Form 80 is basically all the details about you and your partner. Can't remember exactly what is asked but basically I think family, employment, education, and (what can take a bit of time to fish out as for instance trips inside the EU don't earn you a stamp on your passport so it can be hard to remember the dates) your travel history for the past 10 years. It's very straightforward, it just takes time You can just google the form and download it to see exactly what they ask, and prepare it in advance so it's ready to send should they ask for it.
  2. I agree you should probably put kids on hold until you are more settled. My own experience is that I left my home country for the UK over a decade ago. I am from a very close-knit family and was always adamant I needed to go back at some point. I felt very homesick and holidays there always end up in tears at the airport. Yet when the opportunity came to go back a few years ago and I had to seriously sit down and think about it, I realised my country had changed and wasn't really the home I used to know. That I was looking at it with rose-tinted glasses but that the reality of the daily life would be vastly different from going there on a holiday - when you make the most of your time and tend to experience your family's best side - not the annoying bits that drive you mad! So I stayed, and have no regret so as I'm preparing to live the UK for Aus now I am not too worried about adapting. But everyone's experience is different obviously.
  3. Ahh yes that's what I figured, thanks. Kinda wakes me wish I had taken British citizenship like I was thinking a few years ago, but that can't be helped now
  4. Ooh you get access to Medicare! I thought you could only apply for it after the 820, but perhaps things are different for UK/Commonwealth citizens. Congrats on those milestones anyway! You're making really good progress in settling in I'm leaving on Sept 8th... sooo close now!
  5. @snifter sounds like it's the same as it wasn't on the official list of documents to provide, but we were asked by the CO to send it when they requested the PCC and medical. I'm not sure if they ask for it systematically now. Our agent had us fill it beforehand, so he was obviously expecting it. @angelpie we didn't have much regarding the nature of the household as we didn't live together (which is more or less the nature of the PMV after all) so we just provided screencaps of our chats discussing how we would organise our life together, bank statements showing we split costs etc, and explained how we were planning to live together in our statement.
  6. It depends what your plans as a couple are. If you are engaged and planning to get married, there is the PMV (visa 300). But you need to apply offshore (i.e you have to be outside Australia when you apply and when the visa is granted; you can come to Aus on a tourist visa in between, but you can't work there or stay longer than 3 months at a time). If not, you could indeed go there on a Working Holiday Visa, which would allow you to live together for a year, and see how it goes I don't know the specifics of the WHV but plenty do around here and will be able to give you all the info. Edit: in fact this thread has info on going from a WHV to a partner visa, which could apply to you. Have a looksee! https://www.pomsinoz.com/topic/196358-partnerde-facto-visa-advice-needed/
  7. They do ask for family details on form 80 such as date of marriage of parents and siblings (when applies) etc - so some info can require a bit of digging even if you're on good terms (as much as I like my siblings, I can't remember what day they got married exactly!). Hopefully it's nothing a short phone call or email won't sort out for you @Angelpie@snifter is right, it is a matter of sitting down and taking the time to read the leaflet. Everything is in there, and if you need extra help, this forum is a godsend!
  8. Ooh I'll be in your position soon, so keep us updated @Claire6474 good luck!
  9. We used them to lodge the application. I'm not sure we're meant to discuss agents by name on forums, but happy to talk about it over PM if you want
  10. We got an agent from Australia for guidance and peace of mind, but as everything is done via email these days, it shouldn't matter whether they are from Aus or the UK. As long as they are registered agents (at the Migration Agents Registration Authority, or MARA) they should be equally qualified. And yes, the medicals can be booked swiftly and the results come back after a week or so, so you might as well wait for your CO to request them. The UK has an express service to get your Police Clearance within days too.
  11. Yup, what snifter said. I just went for a short holiday and have been back to the UK sorting my move since. Never had the funds to do the "three months in/one week out/three months back in" thing!
  12. I went with Anglo Pacific too and my boxes were on the boat to Australia 10 days later. But yes as they need to fill the container it's the luck of the draw.
  13. Just to add water to this, I went to Oz on my tourist visa after submitting my application and it was fine. I told my MA so he could notify Immigration if needed. Not sure if they even request that but it doesn't hurt. If you have a CO you can always email and tell them.
  14. Processing times keep growing huh. I wish they would be a bit more specific than this global estimate, as it makes it very hard to plan the next few months once you've submitted your application. It's hard to apply for jobs, sell house etc when you don't know if you could be gone in 3 months or a year and a half...
  15. Congrats on you settlers! Glad to hear containers arrive at destination with no problem save quarantine delays I've booked my flight, we found a place. Three weeks to go! Still so much to do here, and much to come, and am now experiencing everything with a "this is the last time I see that person/place" thought at the back of my head, but I'm so excited!
  16. A few of the main Australia banks (NAB, Westpac etc) offer the option of a migrant account that you can open online from the UK without an Aussie address up to 12 months before moving there. Not sure if it has restrictions of use, but worth looking into?
  17. Great news! after all the paperwork to leave the UK there's another bunch to get through to settle in Oz huh.. so many admin hurdles but we'll all get through ?
  18. The most important thing is to show that you have met in person. We were specifically asked to include photos of us together, bookings under our names weren't enough. And to show that you have been in continuous communication since you have decide to enter a committed and exclusive relationship. So screencaps of whatsapp chats, emails etc (they don't need everything, just enough to show you are regularly talking to each other). Don't forget to explain in your statement why you haven't been able to live together as your case officer can't guess and needs to know. Proving that you are planning a future together: you can provide screencaps of your chats or emails discussing your future life together: your upcoming wedding, where you will live, etc. All your plans as a couple! You need evidence that you are socially accepted as a couple, so photos with family and friends, interaction Facebook, events you went to together etc are good! Finances: you don't need to reside in Oz to set up a joint bank account. As long as your partner does, that's fine (we set up one while I was visiting him in Oz and not living there). Another way to show financial support is to provide evidence that you share the cost of your trips and activities. Or that one supports the other financially. Best of luck
  19. Thank you SO much for a very clear and complete answer! Confusion over
  20. Hi all, I'm now in my last month before the Big Leap to Australia and I'm trying to work out my medical insurance. I'm hoping someone can help as I'm getting quite confused with what I'm entitled to as a PMV (and later 820) holder. The way I understood it the PMV doesn't give you access to Medicare, but 820 does? but then I see (https://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/medicare/reciprocal-health-care-agreements) there is reciprocal health care agreement for visitors from the UK (which *seems* to include EU residents as well) to Australia, but perhaps it just concerns tourists and not migrants? Should I subscribe to a private insurance, and for how long (hoping the answer to that is not "until you get PR"! )? I'm not a UK citizen but have been a EU resident (and taxpayer) here for over a decade and have a National Insurance Number etc, and have no medical condition, if that helps. I'm marrying an Australian citizen. Thank you for your help!
  21. We had an agent so they did the uploading for us and I can't really help you on that, but no, you don't have to use up all of the 60 slots Good luck!
  22. I think the fee might depend on the complexity of the case too.
  23. I applied offshore but did my medical in a BUPA center in Aus as I was about to go on holiday there when the CO requested it. Not a problem, you can book your appointment online once you have the ID number (which they give you when they request the medical). The process was very easy. Copying/pastying what I was told to do: "Contact BUPA Medical Visa Services to make your appointment. The best way to do this is through their online booking system at www.bupamvs.com.au . If you are unable to make an appointment online you can call 1300 794 919. You will need your eHealth Referral letter and your passport in order to make the appointment." I think it was slightly cheaper than what I was quoted in the UK, too. I don't know if it's the same in every BUPA centre but mine dealt with several prospective migrants at the same time so it took a couple of hours to complete all the various exams. Not a problem for me but best be aware of it.
  24. All of the above seconded. When putting your photos together on a Word document, don't forget to add a caption saying what event/occasion it was, what date, and who the people are, as it's not necessarily obvious and the CO isn't psychic. Best of luck
  25. I did not submit form 80 as it was not on the list, but was asked by my Case Officer to provide it. I would download the form and have it ready just in case. Nothing tricky about it, but it can take time to fill (particularly the travel history) so best have it ready to send. Once the Case Officer requests documents you only have 28 days to send them.
