  1. Not necessarily. I've stayed in a few short term share houses inbetween moves to and from Australia and had no issues. Least you have a base then, saves leaving your things in a shared dorm room.
  2. We did ours out of the same account, found it easier having one log in. But you can do it either way - two accounts or one.
  3. $30 a night in a hostel? I assume that's a shared room. Just keep in mind that it could become bloody frustrating trying to sleep/wake early for job interviews etc being in a dorm. That would drive me insane! I cant comment on Perth but I know for sure you could get a room in a share house for the same price perhaps slightly more in Melbourne.
  4. Where are you looking at moving to? I can't comment on whether you can get a visa or not with no work experience but I would strongly suggest you obtain some before you come over. I know of three recent graduates who have moved to London and secured teaching work because they couldn't obtain anything here. I know another two people who are working in retail and getting any emergeny teaching work they can to build up some experience. All were after work as secondary teachers, of the two I know still in Australia one had a masters in history and couldn't obtain work, and the other has just started her masters this year in the hope it will help her secure work (can't remember off the top of my head what she's doing - I known it's not history though). They were all in Victoria. So to ensure you arnt going up against the thousands of graduates fighting to get work id gain some experience before making the move.
  5. Are you eligible to be sponsored? Because it's a lot more complicated than your employer saying they could sponsor you when you arrive. You have to have a specific skill listed on the SOL or CSOL list. Just thought id clarify this as it could be the deciding factor on which visa you get as you won't have much choice lol.
  6. Dont rely on information from embassy call centres. They frequently provide incorrect information to people. Your partner will have to undertake security checks which can take months alone in some countries.
  7. Just FYI that they are quoting 18months processing for applications processed in Lebanon.
  8. Yes what an insult!! Let's remove the English requirement for people that speak English and see how many can meet the points required then! Given English is your native language you already have a huge advantage over people whose first language isn't English.
  9. I have only used them for some things I needed when I first landed in the UK. They weren't great. Considering they are meant to take a lot of the stress out of the entire process. When we moved from London to Melbourne we used Anglo Pacific and I couldn't rate then highly enough
  10. Great that your "willing" to move here...whether you can find work in your field is another can of worms But the short answer is yes you can work if your a dependent on your partners student visa.
  11. Have a look at this link. It's correct and states 12-15 months. The page your looking at is their processing standards as a whole (not taking into account individual embassy's) ie what they hope to achieve and hasn't been updated for a while. http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/pages/801-820.aspx 820 is not processed by one CO anymore - it's done by a team of people these days. If you gave them all the info they need you won't hear from anyone until your visa is granted. If they need a police check or medical then someone will contact you

    help needed!

I would assume you would need pay slips etc to back up any number of years you want to claim work experience I believe. Otherwise surely the system would be rort with people making it look like they had more years experience than they really did?
  13. It depends on the embassy. Some embassy's do contact applicants to advise them that a CO has been allocated and it's also generally within a certain time frame. But mostly you never find out unless they want something or your advised your visa has been granted/refused.
  14. If be getting a new agent lol! What kind of MARA agent suggests you contact DIBP for advice - that's ridiculous. Anyone who spends an hour browsing this forum knows they are horrendous for providing any kind of "advice" and can't be trusted to give it (it's really not what they are there for).
  15. As has been stated a PMV can only be applied for outside of Australia, and regardless of what DIBP prefer re paper or online, I would suggest an online application as it's very straight forward to do and a lot less hassle e.g you don't need to get things certified
  16. I replied on your other thread...but for anyone else who reads this in the future: 1. Yes, you have to be living together with official proof (bills, lease etc) for 2 years. 2. You need a job offer starting within 3 months of your arrival + you need to show you have been earning over £18,600 in the 12 months prior to you applying. Info can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/371437/AnnexFM_Section_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement.pdf
  17. Have you read this document? It pretty much explains the financial requirement in detail: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/371437/AnnexFM_Section_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement.pdf
  18. Currently going through this process myself. 1. Yup they are very strict on the 2 year requirement to live together- it's be together for two years or get married. 3. You need a job offer in the UK earning over the threshold (starting within 3 months), plus you need to demonstrate you have been earning £18600 for the previous year in Australia. My partner had no luck securing a job in time so had to move back to the UK without me. Then your stuck apart because you have to be earning the required amount for 6 months. I know you said you didn't want to rush getting married but you may not have a lot of room to move with that. Can you get married in Australia? Then if you get a job before you go you can lodge the application prior to you leaving? Saves doing two applications - one fiancé and one spouse visa. Your partner can't work on a fiancé visa so that can be frustrating whilst waiting to apply and receive the spouse visa.
  19. Might also help if you look up your award online to show them what the rate is.
  20. It is high for a country like Australia - it was slightly over 5% not long ago! It will also depend on which state you are travelling to - Victoria unemployment rate for example is climbing, it's now over 7% for memory. Youth unemployment country wise is increasing as well.
  21. Email them if you like. I think you are unlikely to get much of a helpful response. Presumably they gave you 28 days to supply the information and sometimes they don't look at the details you send until the deadline has ended.
  22. An incredibly small amount of people get a job before they travel to Australia. Most of the IT market is very saturated - add that to the climbing unemployment rate, the fact that you are overseas (can probably be seen by you not providing an Australian number to be contacted on - very unsuaul not to include a phone number on a CV) and that you are an overseas applicant (no Australian experience) I would say it's quite possible that you won't get a job offer until you are in Australia for a few weeks or more.
  23. Yup if you have PR or your a citizen you have to wait until you retire.
  24. $57,000. Is that including superannuation? In my opinion that's not a lot for a family of three let alone 4. And as far as I'm aware you arnt eligible for rent assistance for a few years. Although you would get family tax benefit. Someone else might know some more info.
  25. My partner opened an Australian bank account before he arrived and transferred money. He arrived one day and went down to the bank the next to confirm his identity and pick up his bank card. He carried a little cash to get him through the two days without a card but that wasn't an issue for us.
