  1. I would double check with the surgery about how they give it you, as we paid the £50 each so they put it on 4 secure discs with passwords so a lot easier. I do think it is a good idea if you can't remember dates and years for certain vaccines.
  2. Daisy hill has a great private school John Paul college( my kids are there so can vouch for it, close to city and Gold Coast, shailer park is the next suburb to that and is just as nice then you have Cornubia which is where I live it has a mixture of small blocks and acerage sized blocks, which again has some great schools.
  3. I informed them a couple of months prior and was informed it would stop straight away but would have one more payment, they also advised I could call back at a later date and inform them just before we left. I had to much going on so declined as I was scared I would forget before we left. Claiming money you are not entilted to is disgusting.
  4. My two boys started out in state schools as we were on a 457, we was not so happy with the school there was a lot of poor teachers who didn't want to be there. My eldest moved up to high school, we we happy with the school as they did have strict rules but the students were very disruptive, once we got PR we moved both boys into private! Best thing we ever did they are coming on leaps and bounds with not bad behaviour tolerated. They do get a good amount of home work but they either stay behind and study in the library or get it done as soon as they get home to enable them free time in the evening.
  5. My husband is also a doctor we came on a 457 and purchased after 2 mths. You need a letter of offer and mayb a wage slip but you have to do 20% deposit. We bank with Westpac they also offer a relationship manager who specialises in docs, they have always gave great advice and never put a foot wrong. I can give u his number if u like so when u land he can help with advice, they also offer services for transferring pensions from Nhs.
  6. Yes he really loved it, it was not his full time job he looked after players through the week and did the home games. He deffo misses that side of things.
  7. Hahahahaha we are not all that bad lol... We live in Brisbane but hubby still follows them regularly as he use to be the club doctor.
  8. When we came out oh had a job to go to, so we asked if we could redirect post to them until we got a rental.. They were fine abt it... Good luck with the move
  9. When i arrived nearly 2 years ago i was bit to hell, couldnt belive it as i had never suffered with them biting me in other countries.... i swell up something wrotten but hubby a GP and advised I use vitamin b1. it's fantastic never get bit now I swear by it.

  11. Hey James it doesn't say which state your trying to sell from :-)
  12. Hi Rachel, i live in SE brisbane so once your over here we can meet up for coffee. If you need any advice let me know, not as experienced as others as we have only been here a year, but will help where I can. I will pm you my mobile no so you can also contact me. marie
  13. We also are on a 457 had to put 20% down. We are also applying for PR, once this comes through we would be able to look at releasing the equity so we had just a 10% deposit.
  14. Hi BernieDuke, thank you for taking the time to reply to me. As its a dating set up then I will have to pass as I am married with kids, but if there is another event for just meeting friends (straight. Or gay) then deffo count me in next time.
  15. We came to brissy a year ago now, we booked a apartment for 3 weeks hoping this would give us enough time to sort everything out. My oh actually had a job set up but needed to complete paperwork with APHRA before he could start work. We found a rental in that time as we made a list of things to do everyday once complete we took time out to enjoy lol... Not sure how things work in WA but I'm sure it won't be to different.
  16. Hey just pt recruitment for police in oz and this came up. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/welcome/211571-brit-cop-looking-work-oz.html
  17. We moved over a year ago now, we put our house on the market in January we sold it on our first viewing! I also put it on for £10k over what the estate agent had said bt that is cos I knew the area we were selling in sells really well and market prices for it!! We actually only dropped the price by £3000 so made more than estate agent advised!! We moved over in April last year bt it didn't take that long to complete as there was no chain. we moved into a holiday let in Derbyshire as the guy who owned the properties was ok with us letting short term as it was still a regular income for him, obviously we paid more for rent than we would have if we just rented a normal house, bt saying that we didn't pay gas electric etc plus we did end up moving earlier so it actually worked out cheaper in the long run!! We would have had to pay 12 mth rental as we couldn't find 6mths.. good of luck with the selling of your house and the move over to oz.
  18. We opened a bank account while we were still in UK so that when we sold house we were able to transfer money once it had been changed into oz dollars.. As we had bank all set up we used our short term stay as add for bank which enabled us to get driving licence with current add, we also managed to get mobiles sorted out to. Sounds stupid but we took extra printed copies of our visa in case people wanted to see and keep them for schools etc, I'm sure you said before you need to find work when you arrive so maybe up to date cv again a few printed copies until you are able to print more off. good luck with the move its going to come round really quick.
  19. Good luck with your new adventure, hope you find someone to meet up with.
  20. Sorry to hear about your kidney stones Hun, hope you get it sorted!
  21. Yay!!! Congrats on your first Aussie house purchase, it's such a great feeling getting the keys to your new home. We have been here a year now, managed to purchase a house 7mths ago it's the best feeling ever. Good luck with your move :-)
  22. Not really sure, but it could be helpful if you called immi they may be able to advise more in depth.. Good luck with whatever you decide
  23. Yes sorry I am in Cornubia which is near Daisyhill, Shailer park etc. bt do go into the city as well
