  2. Hi Just wondering what everyone has done with their UK Pensions, we have been living here 5 years, now citizens and no intention of going back to UK. Keep getting companies cold calling to help me move my pension to UK but want to be sure I don't get scammed and lose my pension pot. Can anyone recommend website with correct advice on what to do or is there any company/government organisation that could handle and not steal half my pension in fees etc. Any help appreciated.
  3. Hi Been living in Australia now 5 and a half years and love it. Will never go back to UK. We were made citizens last year and trying to decide now whether to stay in Melbourne or move to Perth. Just wondering what peoples views were on Perth over Melbourne - this will all depend if I can get a job in Perth which seems difficult when based in Melbourne. I know Perth is classed as more isolated and weather is better but at 46 & 55 we are not sure if this is the right move. We are still renting due to major problems with land titling so still have the option to buy at either location - just wondered if anyone had experience living in both cities and what the pros and cons are? Thanks All
  4. Hi We have been in Australia now for nearly 5 years and loving it, came over on PR and now Citizens, our 17 year old granddaughter is here on holiday and would like to come over for a gap year. I know she can come over for a year and extend to 2, but wondered if she could get PR status as a relative of ours. Any ideas appreciated Thanks
  5. Hi Our Permenant Residency Visa expires on 20 Jul 2017, we can apply for residency on 24 May 2017, just wondered on process and where best to get information. Do we need a penal certificate as we validated visa in May 2013 on holiday, went back to UK and moved over Feb 2014 so over 90 days. Not sure what else we need to do Any help appreciated Thanks
  6. Hi Does anyone know if it is possible to get a home loan on a 3 year sponsored visa? Thanks in Advance
  7. Our daughter is about to be given a sponsored visa 457 by an employer in Australia but wants to come out on holiday before it is granted just by a couple of weeks. Does anyone know if it is OK to come out on a holiday visa and then just change to the sponsor visa without having to leave the country and reenter from the UK? Thanks in Advance

    Shipping Pets

Hi My daughter looking to come over to Australia asap, but she has been told that her 4 month old dog needs to have rabies vaccination and wait 4 weeks for blood tests and then 180 days before dog can be transferred. Just wondering if anyone else has done this or if there is a faster way. Thanks in Advance

    Uk tv

Hi Really keen to get UKTV access in Australia, just wondered the best way. I have a playstation with all the UK channels on it, but cant get round the blocker from being in Australia. Looked at VPN's but most look like scams/unreliable - happy to pay but want great service. Been here two years but struggle to get british motorcycling access in australia and oz tv is ok but not as good as uk dramas/documentaries etc Any ideas welcome Thanks in advance
  11. Hi We are looking to buy our first home in Australia after living here two years (Melbourne) My wife can drawdown on her UK pension in a couple of months at 55, looking to put into property as the pensions she has are quite low values but would help increase out deposit, however if any more thatn 25% of our pension we have to pay 20% basic rate tax in UK. Does anyone know if it is possible to recover this 20% tax as we are not living there and earnings for the full year in UK would be well below the minimum tax threshold or do you have to pay the tax irrelevant of earnings. Also is there any tax implication in Australia bringing the money in. Any help appreciated, thanks in advance
  12. Hi we are in Australia at the moment on a skilled migration visa valid till 2017 however just wondered how long before we can get permenant residency and then citizenship? we first came over in May 2013 to validate visa and then moved here in February 2014 so have already been in the country for a year in theory. keen to get residency as soon as possible so we can get a mortgage with a lower deposit value any help appreciated thanks
  13. Hi we have moved to Melbourne in February from uk and have enough savings at the moment for approx 5 - 10 percent deposit. however when we mentioned to our australian bank, because we have a 457 skilled migration visa valid till July 2017 they would probably need 20% deposit as we weren't permenant residents is this normal or would other financial institutions view it differently. probably not looking to get a mortgage for at least another 10 months but was interested to know thanks
  14. Hi we moved to Melbourne 3 months ago and I have been working on a contract basis since 11th march. i have a letter that says I will be made permenant in three months in the role earning really good money. does anyone know if it would be possible to get finance to buy a car as we have been renting a car from avis since we arrived and keen to buy a car and stop eating money on rentals? thanks for any responses Regards
