Oh my god starting reading it for a second... oh hang on maybe it is reasonable it in the case of violent husband etc.... but then it says mums can do it if they are in an intolerable emotional position... stuff that idea. The law as is seems to be one of few that is not biased in favour of the mother.

Teachers Moving or Living in Australia

Congrats to you teachers who have just finished your first year of teaching here in Australia. My girlfriend is off back to the UK for Christmas tomorrow as a reward for her hard work this year, she settled really well and enjoyed teaching in Victoria. Much less paperwork/stress/form filling, no ofstead to worry about this year... hope u have all had a simular positive experience. -
desperate to return to uk but partner not wanting to at all

Depends on the area I guess, I know housing has become super expensive here in Australia, but if we wanted to move 20mins outside of geelong where we both now work we can buy a nice house on a few acres of land for same price as a 4 bedroom in Geelong itself (maybe same price as house in outer melbourne suburb). some people might think that is loads better if you want a horse or some animals or just some space -
What are peoples options then? say in 20 years time and my girlfriends mum is the last one standing in the UK , can pass the balance of family test but wont have a lot of money, are there any?

Hi we are returning to the UK to be married on Jan 10 and have just found out the parent company of the hotel has gone into administration. Haven't had much news at the moment the newspaper says they hope to continue to trade while a new buyer isfound. hopefully it all works out but I want to put together a plan b in case they close the doors in a few weeks. anyone know what our options are. We are stuck to that date as us and family flying from Australia. Are we free to change venue? Are we tied to the venue by the reading of the bands registrar thing or are we free to change are we tied to county registrar is in etc? Sending in relatives tomorrow to find out more

I would urge caution. The commute to the CBD is going to be long, I know, I am commuting from Geelong to the inner suburbs of Melbourne every day. Its 15 hours a week, thats a lot of lots time for family or personal things. Thankfully I have just landed a job 5mins from home, back home by 5:30 in Torquay on the beach in summer at 6 -
Question for those people advising her not to have come back Does that mean u have to not allow your wife and kids to go on holiday? Surely they would still be resident in Australia and would be returned there.

She has settled well, made lots of friends through a website called meet up. School wise, shes really busy as had to start again with all her lesson plans etc as was doing senior Biology in UK now doing Junior Maths science. I think she has found it a shock as to how interested the parents are.. at her UK school people didnt normally show up to see her at parent teacher night, here she is overbooked and parents are always making appointments to see her at other random times -
