  1. Jump on the boat like 50,000 people did last year before Tony came on board (and thousands will once Tony is gone and Labour/Greens are in power).
  2. Thanks for your replies guys, in my opinion an immigration program shall be run not only for economic benefit of the country but also social well being of its society. We might as well abolish the partner visa category as well, argument being "well your partner is working you are not, he/she can work to benefit the economy of Australia and you can come as a tourist every few months (again benefiting the economy of Australia)". I don't think thats right, we must have family category visas to enable parents, partners, children and siblings to join the immigrants. It will ensure they emotional/social well being which will indirectly benefit the bottom line (economy) as they become more productive members of society. P.S Fortunately my brother applied onshore whilst on a Graduate Visa, so he can stay and work in OZ until the end of the last quarter of this century when his file will finally hit a case officer's desk. I believe his case officer might be at kindergarten now or maybe not even born yet lolz. Nasir
  3. Hi All, My 28 year old brother applied for this visa in January 2015 and got a letter saying that he shall expect a wait time of up to 56 years. He wasn't very pleased to learn this however he has no other option and can't meet the pass mark for skilled migration visas. I personally think, no visa application would ever take more than 2 year or in extreme cases 4 years. Has anyone ever heard of anyone who applied for a visa and had to wait for more than 4 years? A person who has waited 10 years for an Australian visa would be a news story to my mind :ssign12: Nasir
  4. Hi Debbs, Ours is exactly same situation all of us are Australian citizens/PRs except my brother. He is on a Graduate 485 visa so thankfully his application was Onshore subclass 835 as well. Another thing I am not sure if you know is that a Bridging Visa is automatically granted when you apply for a LRR visa. The details of it will be in the Acknowledgement Letter sent by IMMI. My brother got full working rights and access to medicare. However the Bridging Visa will come into force when his graduate visa expires next year. I guess it will be same for your son, once his Working Holiday Visa expires he will automatically switch on to the Bridging Visa the next day. That bridging visa might not have any work restrictions. He might also be eligible for medicare. Like lebourvellec said, if he meets someone whose entire family are Australian citizens/PRs then his LRR won't be impact but if the partner has a family member who is not Australian citizen/PR then his application will be become invalid. He better ask for a family tree and all family passports before he gets into a relationship lol  However if the partner is Australian citizen/PR then she can sponsor him for a spouse visa after which he can expect PR in 12-18 months. Thanks for info on Queuing Letter, I have been precisely after this information since I started the thread. Got it now :-)
  5. Thanks Ozmaniac, $2065 is not bad, I don't have to buy Tattslotto tickets every morning  Thanks Maggie, that was precisely my question and you have answered it.
  6. The issue is they have told us that they have received a valid application but didn't give a queue date! BTW where does second installment come from? Its not a contributory parent visa
  7. Well some good news, the Immigration Department send an acknowledgement letter just 3 days after they recieved the RRL visa application. However they didn't provide a queue date, would that be in another letter, wonder when is a queue date allocated?
  8. She doesn't have to wait to be the Last Remaining Relative, she can apply for parent visa now if she meets the Balance of Family test i.e. no more children in any other country than Australia.
  9. Hello Everybody, My brother applied for Last Remaining Relative Visa this week and I am struggling to find stories of people in similar situation. I have a question i.e. how long does it take to be given a queue after one has lodged a visa application? Please feel free to use this thread for other Last Remaining Relative visa application discussions  Cheers, Nasir
  10. Would that impact the applicants who have lodged their applications before Increases in Charges? The second installment is now around $48,000 hopefully it won't apply to applicants who applied an year before and are waiting for a case officer.
  11. Folks, I have lodged a parent visa application for my mum, is it ok if I lodge a visitor visa application for her after 2 weeks? The second application doesn't supercede the first one or anything like that? Cheers, Nasir
  12. Hi All, Just a quick question. My mum intends to apply for offshore parent visa, can she put in an application for visitors visa whilst her offshore parent visa application is still being processed? Thanks, Nasir
  13. Hi Russell, Yes she has "No Further Stay" condition on her current 12 month visitor visa. Nasir
  14. Thanks Rupert! How long the last remaining family member application take to process. I guess the applicant stays on a bridging visa until the application is decided? What are the rights and obligations of the applicant whilst on bridging visa e.g. work rights, medicare, centrelink, voting etc Nasir
