  1. we got ours, submitted march, front loaded police?medicals, case officer requested more info august a week later visa granted
  2. thanks ceddy & wolvesaussie, there can be alot of negative posting, and not alot of info on older kids so if anyone is in a similar situation please message if i can help i will
  3. just in case anyone else is in the same situation as me applying for a visa with an older child, there is hope, we were granted our visa this week including my 20 year old son, so for us it was always worth the risk and extra effort to have our family all together, happy days
  4. thanks tickled pink, I think your right, Ill try calling one tomorrow
  5. Im sorry blossom79, but i`m certainly not getting "worked up", just asking questions and thanking posters, I was trying to clarify if it wasn't clear in my first post what my situation is, it really has nothing to do with whether or not you had any help or not, I myself travelled to Australia when younger without the help from my parents or family, doesn't mean I cant fund or support my son who overcame alot of difficulties to achieve his results, the point of posting was to get some advice not to be judged on what I do or don't do for my children!! now i am getting worked up!! NOT!! anyway thanks for everyone for taking the time in posting advice and if you've taken offence at my "text tone" get over it and move on
  6. thanks lebourvellec, sorry I didn't make that very clear, he`s just finished his A levels, (he re-took a year making the total time studying for A`levels 3 yrs) he was working part time here in the UK as most students do this helped fund his trip to oz, he left in December, do you know what type of visa we could apply for if unable to be added onto ours?
  7. Thanks all for your reply`s, so are our kids not allowed to take a gap year? its not like he`s working full-time, if at all, he wouldn't be able to support himself without my financial help or my sisters home! if we are successful with our visa and he was refused as a dependant what would happen? he would be in the UK alone with no family or home? is there anyone who can shed some light to what my options may be, thanks in advance
  8. we have an older son (20) who once finished his A levels ( took 3 yrs!!) worked for a bit to save money for a gap year, he is currently in Australia on a WHV, he is staying with family and we are sending money to help support him, he is wanting to go to uni in oz he will still be dependant on us and would continue to be while studying,my question is if anyone can help is as we are applying for a 489 skilled regional visa to SA is there likely to be a problem in adding him and will he need to come back to the UK to have his medical and police check? TIA
  9. In case there are any other stonemasons out there that need to be assessed to get your AQF, I found a great guy called "Wez" from skilling australia, they can assess lots of trades including stonemasons, they have an office here in the UK, here is a link to their company, http://www.skillingaustralia.com/, hope this is of some use as it took me ages to find especially after being told you cant get an AQF111 in stonemasonry here in the UK, anyway ill post updates to how we get on.
  10. so ive established that we need to convert time served skills into an Australia equivalent qualification (AQF 111) ive searched here but the post all seem to be quite old, anyone have any idea who will assess stone masons here in the UK, i can find Australian companies via google but none here in the uk
  11. Thank you ozmaniac, I received this today from TRA: You will need to get Recognition of Prior learning at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and gain an AQF before submitting an application for a TRA Migration skills assessment. You will also along with the AQF will be required to have in total 6 years of work experience, including a minimum of three years full-time (or equivalent) paid employment under the direct supervision of a tradesperson/employer (an informal training period) before an additional three years full-time (or equivalent) paid employment has been completed at the required skill level for the occupation. Please refer to section 2.8.4 (page 25).
  12. thank you very much, just what I was looking for, right here goes another stressful time!!!
  13. i`ve searched everywhere but cant find where I can get skills assessed for a stone mason?, there's nothing on the TRA website that I can see!!! all I can find is oz assessment websites, does anyone know or have a link, probably right in front of me, but I cant see the wood for the trees!!!
