Huge coincidence- I've just checked on the immigration website on vevo and was granted perm residency on the 11th, the day I wrote this! Not had any emails or anything through the post yet though! So it was only a 4 month wait, seemed a long time!!

Hey has anyone recently been granted perm residency on a subclass 801 partner visa? I sent all my second stage documents back to the office in April as requested as it had been two years since I first lodged my 820 partner visa. Not heard anything back yet, seems a long time to have to wait especially after waiting 2 years! Thanks

Id say go for it! I was in a similar position back in 2008, I had a great job in Manchester but after 3 years I started to get itchy feet and wanted to go backpacking in Oz. I just went for it and booked a one way ticket, best decision ive made!

Just wondered if anyone had any answers! Im going back to England on thursday for 3 weeks and trying to get travel insurance, problem is every site ive tried says you have to be a permanent aus residence. Im a temp at the min. Does anyone know a company i could try? Thanks!

Hi, i applied for my 820 at brisbane too although i posted it, back in March. i still hadnt recieved an acknoledgement letter in june so i gave them a call and found out they wrote my email address wrong! They decided to grant it me there and then! Hopefully you get a quick decision -

Ive just realised my uk passport expires in november this year. Im here on a temporary partner visa, does anyone know what happens if i dont receive my new passport before then, does my visa get cancelled?!

I have a question about my driving licence too if any one knows! ... i am here in oz queensland on a temp visa (partner), wont be perm until 2014 and my uk photo licence has just expired, i cant renew it as im not in uk but am i able to apply for an oz licence even tho im not a perm resident? Not sure what to do. im still driving in oz but on an expired licence!

i was planning to go to oz with a mate but she changed her mind so i went on my own in 2008 and think it was the best thing i ever did! Have you heard of ozintro? i did that for my first week, everyone in my group had come over on their own, i made some really great friends and lived in sydney for a while with a few of them. So many people i met were travelling by themselves so its really easy to meet people! You will be fine :biggrin: look up www.ozintro.com

hey, i am in the exact same situation as you! Im on a PMV and getting married 2nd March. I have applied for so many jobs and had emails saying i have been unsucessful, i have also applied for woolies, coles, supercheap auto etc. .. i feel like im never going to get something!! Back home ive done office, reception, retail work and i thought it would be alot easier than this. Ive found a lot of them want experience aswell. Whereabouts are you living?

Just wondering if anyone could help with a question about medicals! I had my prospective marriage visa granted in august 2011 and am now here in oz and getting married next month. This visa expires in may so will be applying for Temporary partner visa before then. I took my medicals for the PMV in manchester last April, do these expire after a year or will i be able to apply for my onshore visa in oz without re-doing more medicals over here? Thanks :smile:

Yipppppppppeeeeeee!! Got my visa granted today!!! :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: So happy, i gave my CO a call and he said it was ready and would grant it! Yet to tell my other half in OZ he seems to be in a deep sleep and not answering his phone right now!! POI has been great and Good Luck to everyone still waiting :biggrin:

I think my patience is starting to run out now! haha My CO was on holiday for the past 2 weeks so my fingers are crossed hes onto it in the next few days!!

I feel the same i cant really do anything until i get a date when its granted, do you think because hes away for 2 weeks this will put our visa processing 2 weeks behind? Im hoping he has done it already and just email us when hes back!

I dont know whether to ring up now to see if its been passed to someone else :confused: my CO said 5-6 months and it will be 5 months on 8th august, dont want to be annoying! lol might give it another week. Just want to book my flight!!:twitcy:
