We were in perth wa for 8 months before coming here. Loved it there, had a good job and a good group of friends, unlike here! How about you? Where are you from?

Thanks Pom Queen, just missing fellow Brits, after spending a year in Perth which was like "little Britain" I find it strange to rarely bump into anyone from the UK. Haven't been to Cairns yet, hope to visit one day soon. If there's anyone else out there, drop me a message!

Hello Girls! Arrived here 2 weeks ago from London - renting in Ocean Reef area - have two kids boy aged 12 and daughter age 10 who start school on Tuesday. Am worried about what I am going to do with myself once they are at school and hubby at work! Would love to meet up for coffees, chats and cake! Have no car yet but I can get a cab to Joondalup shopping centre and surrounds!

Hello Ed, we are an hour away from secret harbour :-( but you are gonna love it here - its great and everyone is friendly! James hasn't started school yet but I hope to get him to school soon so that he can make new friends. I'll get him to tell you all about it once he starts!

well on monday with one week to go an evil little f@cker at my daughters school threw a plastic slide at her legs while at school and she was rushed to hospital - found the leg was broken, had to have an operation with pins put in. She is only 9. She is now in a cast for six weeks and cannot fly. I have had to cancel flights, shippers my tenants who were due to move in and everything else that you all know is entailed in emigrating to Australia. My husband now has to go over there on his own otherwise he will lose the job. He will leave on wednesday and we will not see each other until mid may. With only days to go until we started our new life together I cannot believe this has happened to my daughter through another childs deliberate actions. The parents have not bothered to contact me and we are going to incur even more expense. Got to find this month and next months mortgage and money to live on as my husband finished work last month. I am so so so so angry and I want revenge.

We leave in 9 days! Getting fed up of the sorting, clearing, tip runs and never ending to do list! Suitcases are nearly packed, hand luggage nearly there. House is a tip. Shippers come next Monday. I am knackered.

Thanks for the advice Kimanda - guess that is true, wherever you go in Perth I guess the beach is not that far away and I have been hearing that the rentals are difficult to come by. Good luck with your baby plans xx KLM081 - I have not done any research on schools! have no idea where to go, I'm hoping it will all fall into place when we get there! This whole OZ thing has only come about since Nov 1st last year and its been mental getting our heads around it and the whole packing up / clearing of the house. Sitting here with piles of clothes all around me, bags and boxes of stuff and still trying to live day to day. Hubby has given up work now so that helps, but we leave on 4th April and there is looooaaaaadsss to do! It will all come together in the end, I'm just sooooo tired!!! xx

My OH company have booked us a serviced apartment in como for the first month, then after that we have to find somewhere, not sure of what area to go to yet! Need to find nice schools for 12 year old and 9 year old and be close enough to the beach and bayswater/rivervale where OH office is. We dont know!!!

Today have been cleaning shoes, OH mending leak on garage roof, gas man round at the moment doing the gas certificate ready for my new tenant. We leave 3 weeks today! I'm knackered.

I have today listed 2 items on ebay (daughters old bed & hubbys power tool) and have bids already. Cancelled my water, tv license (got a refund) and poll tax, wrote up some details for the people who will be renting my property who have today passed all credit checks, filled in my shipping acceptance form (need to scan over to Masons). Hubby didn't have such a good day. He got pulled over in the company works van for wearing no seatbelt and the tyres were bald. Got £60 fine and 3 points on his license. When he got home, the garage door fell off its frame and collapsed. So looks like we are due for a new garage door, not to mention the bedroom window that decided to crack last week. Its his last day of getting up at 4:30am tomorrow. Hope the b*stards pay him. Last month they were 4 weeks late paying him. Need a guardian angel for the next few weeks please, April 4th D Day can't come soon enough!
