Huge coincidence- I've just checked on the immigration website on vevo and was granted perm residency on the 11th, the day I wrote this! Not had any emails or anything through the post yet though! So it was only a 4 month wait, seemed a long time!!

Hey has anyone recently been granted perm residency on a subclass 801 partner visa? I sent all my second stage documents back to the office in April as requested as it had been two years since I first lodged my 820 partner visa. Not heard anything back yet, seems a long time to have to wait especially after waiting 2 years! Thanks

Id say go for it! I was in a similar position back in 2008, I had a great job in Manchester but after 3 years I started to get itchy feet and wanted to go backpacking in Oz. I just went for it and booked a one way ticket, best decision ive made!

Just wondered if anyone had any answers! Im going back to England on thursday for 3 weeks and trying to get travel insurance, problem is every site ive tried says you have to be a permanent aus residence. Im a temp at the min. Does anyone know a company i could try? Thanks!

Hi, i applied for my 820 at brisbane too although i posted it, back in March. i still hadnt recieved an acknoledgement letter in june so i gave them a call and found out they wrote my email address wrong! They decided to grant it me there and then! Hopefully you get a quick decision

Ive just realised my uk passport expires in november this year. Im here on a temporary partner visa, does anyone know what happens if i dont receive my new passport before then, does my visa get cancelled?!

I have a question about my driving licence too if any one knows! ... i am here in oz queensland on a temp visa (partner), wont be perm until 2014 and my uk photo licence has just expired, i cant renew it as im not in uk but am i able to apply for an oz licence even tho im not a perm resident? Not sure what to do. im still driving in oz but on an expired licence!

i was planning to go to oz with a mate but she changed her mind so i went on my own in 2008 and think it was the best thing i ever did! Have you heard of ozintro? i did that for my first week, everyone in my group had come over on their own, i made some really great friends and lived in sydney for a while with a few of them. So many people i met were travelling by themselves so its really easy to meet people! You will be fine :biggrin: look up www.ozintro.com
