  1. Just thought I would add in Vic Car rego for a standard vehicle light is currently $232.30 the you have the tac charge wgich is done on your current postcode when the car will be, you have a high, medium, Low risk so price depends on where you live. If you buy a new car you have stamp duty which is 2.5% (if car cost 15,200 stamp duty is $380, if you buy a second hand car it 4%, If you buy secondand pink slip is needed. If you puchase a new car if its over a thresshold you will also have to pay luxury car tax
  2. You don't pay school fees on 457 in victoria, you just need to pay for books, uniform, pens etc, each school has different fees for this! High schools are more expensive the 1st year cost us $3000.00 that was for all the books & uniform. Primary school cost us $250.00 for the year, but like I said each school has different policy!
  3. H&R are the accountants that I used! there was things I didn't think we could claim for as was on 457 that we could, but if you have already got a good estimate from your tax online, then wouldn't waste your money!
  4. As its his 1st I would suggest seeing an accountant as they will get you back the max, I went to do our 1st online. then went to see an accountant so glad I did because I got far much more back with the accountant then I did when I did it online. Your 1st year tax is usually a pretty good one!
  5. How proud was I after watching the opening ceremony. GO Team GB
  6. There is part time work here if you want it! I had to work full time first then reduced my hours after 1 year, was hard going, but the co I was working for wanted to see how I was. I then proved to them I could do this job with less hours. I would do what other suggest look at the jobs situation here to see if your industrry caters for part time workers.
  7. Congratulation on your news! I remeber that feeling enjoy your journey:biggrin:
  8. Hi It might be hard for you, but you can if your on a PR visa, they will except you to put a good deposit down! I work for a dealership, we couldn't get finance until we was granted a pr visa as was on a 457. Your interest rate might be higher due to your circumstances not having a permanent job, but it can be done. Good luck
  9. When my daughters was referred it was an agonising extra 8 weeks for us! We had to get letters from consultants, GP, Oncologist, we are in oz already then DIAC came back that they wanted us to see one of their docs was so frustrating:arghh: But I kept calm & just got as much info as we could (chest xray came back with a mass on her chest) we had to have 2 biopsy done as was a scary time for all of us. When the last biopsy came back given her the all clear emailed DIAC & the medical docs & pr was granted the next day a big relief for us! But this did take a while to sort us I just kept emailing our CO who happened to be a DR himself!
  10. If you have submitted your pr paperwork then you should be ok with a bridging visa, but think you sais that you are in the midddle of applying, I would speak to you employer we were in the same boat our visa was running out & we were told to submitt our paperwork before the expiry date then we was on a bridging visa while our application was processed, would speak to DIAC asap as really youshouldn't be here without a valid visa Good luck
  11. Please phone DIAC asap, to try & find out where you stand, the co you were meant to work for sound shocking, the way they have treated you is appalling. please seek advice asap. Good luck

  15. Hi stacey, I got involved with the childrens school for the 1st year as couldn't find work, that really helped me make friends & got involved with the local community. Our stress was about our finances (or the lack of it). I couldn't quite get use to the expense here! So that made me depressed & missing family. We always said that we have to give it 3 years & if one of us wasn't happy after that we would return, which I really hoped would happy, but I stopped comparing the 2 counties & started to let Oz into my life! I am truly at a wonderful place in my life am really happy that we didn't pack up & move back. And love this country as much as I love the UK. There will always be things I find fault with here, like I do with the UK. i just feel happy at last which is great for my family as was a miserable cow for a long time LOL
  16. Yes you will feel stettled one day, it took me 2 & a bit years, I really understand what your going through & hope that you can see that others felt exactly the same. Wish you the best of luck.
  17. When I 1st arrived in Oz, I loved reading PIO as my feelings towards Oz wasn't good, I loved reading why people didn't fall in love with this country straightaway & it was good to know that I wasn't the only one that felt like that! I would get really frustrated when people slagged off the UK,I am proud to be british I love our culture, history, pubs sense of humour. The 1st 2 years I felt that my world had fallen apart, What on earth had we done??? I couldn't understand what this county had to offer!!! After struggling financially on a 457 we gained pr got a fantastic job meet some amazing aussies. I stopped feeling lonely & started to embace the aussie way of life. (I even started liking the snags) Our family life here is great! My heart is torn between 2 amazing countries! I now get frustrated when people slag off Oz. I love the Uk I love Oz, is it possible to feel so protected about these 2 famtastic countries???
