  3. Hi Totch 10. not long to go now:wink: We're in Drouin, which is half an hour up the highway from Pakenham. My husband and oldest son play for Drouin Dragons which is a great local club- very family orientated. The senior men train on Tues and Thurs at around 6.30 - 8.30 at Bellbird Park, Drouin. obviously there are clubs closer to Pakenham/Officer, but if you need to get stuck in ASAP then you'd be more than welcome at Drouin.

  5. sorry if this has already been asked, but I cant find much info on the ins and outs of the 187 visa. I'm counting down the months till my 2 years is up and wanted to know if immigration contacts you at that 2 year point to check what you've been upto and would they question you leaving the employer at the 2 years to the day? Thanks in advance
  6. Hey Lars and Misspc, sorry to hear of your situations. if it helps the company I work for offered someone else a job/187 sponsorship before I arrived and her visa was issued not long after mine. She made arrangements to come over only to be told that there was no job available to her anymore, but because the visa was already issued she was able to work elswhere (I think she dodged a the bullet). so at least if they cant keep you on, your visa shouldn't be cancelled and if they sack you and you can show that it was not your fault then at least you can look for a new job. Only immigration can cancel a visa, so your employer cant use that as a threat either By the Way does anyone know if thre are there legitamate grounds for leaving your employer on the 187? Can you make a case to immigration for leaving your nominated position and do you have to ask them first before looking for a new job? I'm gutted that I came to the other side of the world and found mental employers, who treat all their staff abissmally and are completely sales driven to the point of being unethical- i've got an email where the boss states that we should look to squeeze every penny out of our patients. i'm at the point of jacking in it all in and hoping that immigration wont chuck us out. Its not what I had in mind when I signed up and i've got 12 months left. I just cant see a way through. Its a relief to know that i'm not the only one in a sticky situation, even if there is no solution but to tough it out

Thanks for your replies. in the visa grant details it staes that ther are nil visa conditions and in the obligations section, it states that you must meet the following obligations commence employment within 6 months of arriving in Auatralia...... remain employed in the nominated position in the regional area for at least 2 years your visa may be cancelled if you do not comply with these obligations to completethe 2 year contract with the employer. i just wanted to see if anyone had any insight on this as the grant letter itself is quite vague. the boss isnt that reasonable and i didnt want them to just say its not possible because i'm on a visa.
  8. Hello, i'm on a 187 visa and was wondering if immigration can dictate working hours for employees. I've been working for my employer for almost 12 months and i'm struggling to manage with both myself and husband working full time , 4 children and all the fun stuff of being in a different country with no family support. Its affecting my ability to settle and adding to homesickness. I suspect that my empoloyer is not keen to let me reduce my hours and i think they'll say that immigration says i cant reduce my hours on my visa. My visa grant letter states only that i must remain in the nominated position for 2 years and nothing about fulltime/ part time hours. would i be able to make a case to immigration as we think my youngest may have dyspraxia which means he'll need lots of physical support at home and at kinder- he's 4. If so who should i speak to the original case manager or is it a different dept. any advice would be gfratefully appriciated. thanks

After 9 long, long months our 187 RSMS VISA IS OFFICIALY GRANTED!!!! nomination approved SEPT2012 Visa loged 11th SEPT 2012 Medicals straight through no problems CO ASSIGNED 8th May Visa granted 18th June 2013 Melbourne office. Good luck to all who are waiting and remember Keep calm and carry on. LET THE CHAOS BEGIN:shocked:
  10. My youngest is 3 and has been "diagnosed" with global delay. When he was first seen by te peadidtritian he was not walking or talking at about 18 months. he has caught up but is still not talking, we've had interventions from speech and language etc. He's making slow progress with new words all the time but he would not go to mainstream school in Sept if we were staying put. We're currently waitng for his medicals to be OK'd. The dr at Spire asked us to get a report from the consultant to give them all the info they might need and didn't see it as a problem. Although we are still waiting for a decision. Having said that we might be a bit more complicated as they found additional dna in some of the cells they looked at when they were ruling out Fragile X syndrome and we've not been told what that means, if anything, so that might be the hold up. I'll let you know if we get the go ahead

I applied 11th Sept 2012, finally had news that a CO had been allocated around the 8th May- got a bit over exited and thought we were almost there only to find out that we're still in the backlog only this time at Global Health waiting for the medicals to be looked at I guess 9no one has told me anything definitive) and that 3 were missing (different 3 each time I emailed her) :arghh:Wouldn't mind so much if the CO explained some of this however she didn't and left me with the impression that she would chase up with medibank..... except its not medibank coz they only deal with Australian based clinics...... Its all as clear as mud and I've lost the will to live:confused: Approaching 9 months now still no closer

Can see why your'e skipping the UK don't suppose there's much call for ship cleaning machines seeing as we don't build them anymore- don't bulid anything nowadays except debt its a running joke with the oldies i see at work; with their bad chests etc. i think we'd all be much healthier if we could get hoildays on the NHS-warm DRY air should do you the world of good; just make sure Blossom79 doesnt come to stay with you or she'll bring the rain with her:biggrin:
  14. grr so close yet still no end in sight- how frustrating! my husband and I liken it to standing on a bungee jump platform or cliff edge staring down into the abyss- not knowing how it will be, preparing to close your eyes and take a leap of faith........ and then you realise that some wottsit is holding on to you/ your harness saying "ya can't go yit mate" read with oz accent in mind) injections once a week quite strong then and not exactly pleasant.- my mother in law's husband is on methotrexate- he's got Crohn's disease- he says it wipes him out for a couple of days after, mind you he's old and very grumpy! if it suits you and allows you get on with life, then stable is very good- hopefully its short sharp bursts that keep that keep the psoariatic arthritis at bay. by the way; pardon my ignorance but does a metal fabricator make sheet metal in like a steel works or summit? fingers crossed they wont dawdle with your case
  15. 12 weeks:shocked: presumably thats for cases that need looking into- not just general processing. what sort of arthritis do you have- i'd be suprised if it needs referring for osteo arthritis- everyone gets that eventually- Rheumatoid/psoriatic would raise quetions coz for some people those types can be delibitating and the medication can be expensive and have nasty side effects. fingers crossed
