S'truth, mate! All in for me was £10 and that included rail fare from British West Bradford to Southampton, equivalent to 1 week's wages But that was 1963. Cheers, Bobj.

I'm not laughing at you, @Quoll, just your statement, “getting up at 2am for a cold shower,” it reminded me of Roebourne and trying to get a cold shower at 10 pm and the water being hot enough for coffee! And trying to sleep in Wyndham, WA when it was 43 C (110F ) at midnight. Cheers, Bobj. Apologies for digressing, folks, as this is, in my ‘umble opinion, a rather good thread.

Is anyone else concerned about the Australian economy?
Bobj replied to SusieRoo's topic in Aussie Chat
Actually, I bought a set of 5 gold Sovereigns In a velvet case many years ago. That has gone to my son. My next purchase will be a block of shares. I like 2 dividends a year going into reinvesting... Cheers, Bobj. -

How do you cope with the natural hazards & dangerous wildlife?
Bobj replied to S&S's topic in Aussie Chat
If you step heavily, any snakes present will feel the vibration and retreat. I do it when I go fishing through a National Park. So far, in 20 odd years, I have encountered 1 taipan, 2 red bellied black snakes, 3 tree snakes and 1 python. They were all sunning themselves to get warm enough to get mobile and go hunting for food. Cheers, Bobj.- 38 replies

They usually make another web after eating the silk from the previous web. Sometimes they use one web a couple of times. Cheers, Bobj.

G'day mate, yes, that looks very much like the garden orb, very common and not dangerous, or aggressive, even though they are mildly venomous. Cheers, Bobj.

This morning, Easter Sunday, 2020. The light on the left is a trawler, working for prawns. Cheers, Bobj.

Wild cucumber and, not edible. Neither is the purple bush bean. Cheers, Bobj.

G’day mate, the first pic is one of the weeds of the solanum family (nightshades and potatoes) and the second is a healthy looking passionfruit. Train it over a strong type trestle, so the fruit can hang down slightly in 12 months, or so. If you live in the “salad bowl belt”, you should be ok with almost any veggies. Cheers, Bobj.

Still very soggy, @Toots. Had a squiz at the weather radar and almost all of Tasmania is wet. Cheers, Bobj.

Pretty sure Unzippy has one, at least a chilli garden on his porch. Cheers, Bobj.

In Ball Bay this morning the temperature was the lowest for nearly 5 months, at 23.2C And it feels distinctly chilly! We are now getting cyclone warnings, strong winds and flooding... Cheers, Bobj.

Just to say, Eungella Nat Park is pronounced as youngla and is 80 km west of Mackay, not Rocky. And, Paronella Park really is worth a visit. Cheers, Bobj.

G'day mate, 2 weeks brizzie to Cairns? My drive would be to ipswich, up the range to Toowoomba, (140 km) to Crow's Nest to Yarraman (120 km). Chuck a leftie to Nanango and on to Goomeri then Ban Ban Springs,(160km)*** There is an area to camp at near the spring. Chuck a right hand down a bit to Biggenden then on to Dallarni. A leftie to the highway ( A1) at Booyal. (90km). Then up the Hwy to Rocky. ***The inland road takes you on to Gayndah (oranges and mandarines), on to Eidsvold and Monto. Near Monto is the Cania Gorge and dam to camp at. (about 200km) Next is Biloela then toDululu. right hand down a bit to Mount Morgan, the biggest gold mine in Australia at one stage The Walter And Eliza Hall Institute Of Medical Research was founded from royalties of that mine.(200km). A good drive down the big hill to Rockhampton (40km). Up the hwy to Mackay (340km). At Waverley Ck there is a rest area about half way to Mackay. Plenty to see and do at the 'Gateway' to the Whitsundays... Sorry, but that's where I get off... Cheers, Bobj.

Having never been there, I have it on great authority that there is a big building in Canberra that it is full of hot air and cold hearts... Cheers, Bobj.

3 days of rain = 15 inches. And more to come! Cheers, Bobj.

And here I am thinking it's because you are a jock and tight with money... Cheers, Bobj.
