  1. My dear old Mum loved brass bands, being an army wife… our local band was the famous Black Dyke Band. Cheers, Bobj.
  2. 5 minutes ago, downtown Ball Bay. Cheers, Bobj.
  3. @Roadtrain Boy, g'day mate, have you thought about the Mackay Region at all? only a 3-3.5 hour drive to the coal mines and close to the fabulous Whitsundays. For the kind of money you are offering, you could get good property on a few beach areas. Just a thought, big engineering works in the city to cater to the mines, etc. Cheers, Bobj.
  4. Not something I ever missed while in the UK as I had no knowledge of them, but in the last few years, thanks to the computers, I have taken an interest in ancient crop marks, not only UK, but a few other countries, too. A very big plus for Google Maps. Cheers, Bobj.

  12. AIR CONDITIONING, dear girl, it is in all the major cities...except for Melbourne and Hobart, apparently. Do they not have air conditioned shops and supermarkets? I seem to remember big shops in Melbourne having aircon and that was 1963, as for Hobart... I have no idea why your comment to my post has mentioned distances as I never even mentioned it. Anyway, thanks for the geography lesson. Cheers, Bobj.
  13. Have been going to the Darwin for over 50 years and could quite easily live there...only in Mendil Beach, city wise. Love Durack and have caught barramundi in the golf course ponds! Girraween, Howard Springs, Berry Springs and Coolalinga are a bit far out but very liveable and have stayed at those places. As for the high temps and humidity, air conditioning, it’s everywhere, as with all Australian cities. Cheers, Bobj.
  14. Camping, Bobj style, snakes, crocs and dingoes. Been this kind of camping in the NT desert fossicking for gemsones and KImberley Region, barramundi fishing for pretty close to 40 years... Cheers, Bobj.
  15. Saw that The Spirit Of Tasmania was making hard work going through the channel, due to the high winds. Cheers, Bobj.

  20. I dine out, a walk in the garden with a vegemite sanga. As a kid in Yorkshire, it was stew with dumplings, or greasy fish n’ chips and the odd garram curry. Now, curries, mexican, indonesian, steak n’ chippies, italian and lotsa bread! Cheers, Bobj.
