  1. Odd, all 6 trips have been alone, except for mum and the bub when it was dirt from Balladonia to Yalata, some 200 miles into South Australia. Just had a squiz at the map of the Eyre Hwy and I see it has been moved! It is closer to the Great Australian Bight, Might have a think about a trip over there again... Cheers, Bobj.
  2. The sun in your eyes as the road is virtually east-west all the way.. So, do it early, with the sun behind you. I have driven it 6 times; once from Eucla to Perh in one run. Cheers, Bobj.
  3. Happiness is...a lounge, bedroom and kitchen at the rear Cheers, Bobj
  4. It's been happening for many years, from Sydney especially. I remember that over 30 years ago, people were buying cheap homes up around Maclean and Yamba in the far north of NSW. They made a fortune from selling their Sydney homes for $1m+ and buying bigger and better homes for $300k, or so. Indeed, when I first retired here, in Ball Bay, Qld, we had Sydney and Smellbum people coming up and asking the prices of our houses to compare...And that was 21 years ago. Cheers, Bobj.
  5. Same apology to you, too. Cheers, Bobj.
  6. As I wrote, I just read an article... my profound apologies for reading and writing... Cheers, Bobj.
  7. just read an article by a farmer who lives in Victoria, but his farm is 23 km across the border in NSW. He has 1500 sheep on the property and bought 43 tonnes of hay to feed them. He rang the Victorian Govt. and, because of the covid lockdown laws, explained his position to the relevant authorities and their only response was for him to go to Melbourne, and get a flight to Sydney, spend 14 days in quarantine there, then drive to his farm and feed his sheep. His question to the er... um... person in Govt, was, had that person any idea how much it would cost to fly 43 tonnes of hay from Melbourne to Sydney? And, how long could 1500 sheep go without feed? Beaurocracy gone bonkers??? Cheers, Bobj.
  8. I would not consider Armidale, NSW, especially in winter. The town is in a hollow and gets enormous frosts and fogs along with woodsmoke from a few thousand wood stoves that quite often settle until late morning. During 2018, there was quite a controvercy regards wood smoke and carcinogens. The airport often gets 'socked in' due to the heavy fogs. I lived in Glen Innes and often had to go there for work seminars. Cheers, Bobj.
  9. @The Pom Queen https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-18065372 Cheers, Bobj.
  10. @The Pom QueenThat place you saw the croc with the blunted snout was where I used to camp years ago. The bloke who gave you the barramundi had a 'hammock swag' and a croc walked under it one night. Same place...Most likely same croc, too. Cheers, Bobj.
  11. High rise camping! Just don’t go sleep walking in the middle of the night! Cheers, Bobj.
  12. That looks decidedly appealing, @The Pom Queen and very relaxing. Cheers, Bobj.
  13. My better half. We have been Mum and Dad for 42 years, so, Mum is far easier to say. Cheers, Bobj.
  14. Thanks, mate, look up Reminiscing in this fine forum. But no photos ‘cos I didn’t own a camera in those days Cheers, Bobj.
  15. Just remembered an incident in caravanning. I bought a small ‘van for living in on the Tom Price-Paraburdoo/Robe River iron ore rail projects. After they were completed, I decided to head south and east, across the Nullabor, which, in those days, was 1000 miles of dirt road. Pretty much in the centre of that road, I had a blowout on my 4wd. The temperature was about 109F and it took me 3 hours to ‘break the bead’ of the tyre. Mum stayed in the ‘van while I toiled away. vowed never ever to buy another ‘van due to that. cheers, Bobj.
  16. That's camping, rough, tough and not a road in sight. Fishing for barramundi and fossicking in the Northern Territory. Cheers, Bobj.
  17. The 'Elsey' cemetery, NT. From the book, "We Of The Never Never" Warlock Ponds, from the book. The bit you can see bottom right hand corner, (apart from my wing mirror, that is.), is the actual bridge built during WWII to expedite moving personnel and materials to fortify The Darwin. Cheers, Bobj.
  18. Looks like you had a pretty good time out there. Wish I had been there, as well. A couple of neat little 'hoochies'. Cheers, Bobj.
  19. Looks like a black house spider, venomous, but not dangerous. Cheers, Bobj.
  20. Pretty early this morning, Ball Bay, Qld Cheers, Bobj.
  21. Don't ever give up on your dreams, mate. Cheers, Bobj.
  22. Cape Hillsborough this morning. Cheers, Bobj.
  23. Nothing wrong with South Australia, it was put there for a purpose; to stop those thieving Victorians from pinching bits of WA to make Vic bigger! Cheers, Bobj.
