DownUnderGirl
Congratulations NaomiSimone, I came on here today expecting there to be lots of lovely grants! Those who have been put off yesterday, hopefully they are giving you 'worse case scenario' time frames so that it's not a case of the saying 'maybe next week' and risk you calling again every day next week iykwim ;0 Fingers crossed the calls have flagged something and they will come through soon

That's great about the job. I'm still applying and looking and I have my visa. Once thing though my CO told me before it was granted was that they do work back from your planned wedding date. So although the visa is for 9 months they grant the visa 8 months prior to your wedding and then you have a month to apply for the next visa. Not sure that applies to yourself but it happened to me. Good luck and hope it comes through soon.

leftyandstumpy
Some help needed please, I need to inform my CO that likely to be in Australia around the time my Visa approved (hopefully approved) and the original letter received from them did not provide a contact email it only provided a link to contact forms europe beside where email address should be. Has anyone had to contact CO to provide details similar to fact that travelling to Australia and if so where did the send the details to. Has anyone used the following link to contact there CO http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/forms/europe I have been given the CO email from another member and not sure whether this should be used for the details that need to send or whether better to just use the general link, any help appreciated. coxy1804
We got an email today from our CO saying currently visas are being approved on the 9th month mark. Was really hoping for the 8 months as dont want to get there so close to xmas. She advised not to book flights until its approved has anyone else been told this? Wondering if this is as she is unsure the nine month mark is going to happen.

HI, I contacted my CO before I came out here and she told me when she could grant my visa. I had her email from when she informed me of receipt of my application. If you don't have an email I would ring the normal number and see if you can get a contact. Good luck.

You say 'letter', is this correct, a printed letter. Most people have communication from their CO via email. However, it would seem in more recent times CO are no longer giving out their direct email address and are instead giving out a general query email addy which is answered by people monitoring the email set up. Enquiries seem to be assesed and general enquiries are replied to from whomever. Important stuff seems to get passed on to CO. I'd send an email to the general enquiries email and ask for a reply to confirm all is in order re your travel plans. Or call the help desk and see what you need to do. Apply for the tourist visa in plenty of time, book flight and give them your travel dates, they can then liase with you to be off shore if visa is granted once in Aus. ETA - If your CO has not given you a direct email address to contact them on I'd be careful having it passed on to you from someone and then using it. I personally don't think people should be passing on email addy's for CO if CO themselves are not giving them out to people. There is the move to the general enquries email as a first port of call now and given wait times have increased of late for new applicants, I can see this being the norm from here on out. CO will contact you if they have need is the rule I always stuck to. Edited September 9, 2014 by Guest
BecWortho
My fiancé is already there so the wait is getting really hard. I love newy can't wait to move That must be really hard!! We made the decision to extend my UK visa at the same time we made our Oz application it was heart breaking to put off going home (it's been 5 years since i left and I haven't been back) but I am glad I stayed with my partner. All this waiting alone would be horrible!! Hopefully your grant will come through sooner rather than later!

Hi, I am in exactly the same position as you. I am visiting friends for a couple of weeks for a wedding, but this is right at the 9 month mark. I have done the following: I emailed the general email address (my letter was similar to yours) and I got a general reply that didn't really answer my questions. I then emailed my case officer directly (after I was given the formula for their email on here). She (RN) replied giving me more detail but not really easing the situation (my 8 month is in Dec, my 9 month in Jan - she basically advised that I be ready to leave the country if she contacts me). I have booked my flights to Oz and have put enough money to one side to get me to New Zealand should I get the email when I am there. This is infinitely better than getting home before it is granted and having to go back to validate.... I am hoping that by letting my CO know the circumstances she may employ some common sense and be nice by doing a grant at 8 months.... we shall see. The short version is "I feel your pain!" TheEscapePlan
Nice one congrats ! Escapeplan your turn next ! ! Let's hope so. If we haven't heard anything by the end of the week I'm complaining. At least our house sale will complete at the end of the month, and we secured a rental property on the sunny Central Coast today, so not all bad. Congratulations to to the lucky ones

Hello, We did have a direct email to our first caseworker. We got an email in July, saying our caseworker had changed. In that email, I was to reply to a general email address, but with the client ID details in the Subject. It then gets redirected internally to the right caseworker. Hope that helps anyone. Sandyp
I think you should plan for the 10 month mark for a visa grant. We thought we would get ours sooner, being married for so long and having australian references, but it didn't happen. You could have a long weekend in Fiji perhaps in December.?
