  1. HI, I contacted my CO before I came out here and she told me when she could grant my visa. I had her email from when she informed me of receipt of my application. If you don't have an email I would ring the normal number and see if you can get a contact. Good luck.
  2. That's great about the job. I'm still applying and looking and I have my visa. Once thing though my CO told me before it was granted was that they do work back from your planned wedding date. So although the visa is for 9 months they grant the visa 8 months prior to your wedding and then you have a month to apply for the next visa. Not sure that applies to yourself but it happened to me. Good luck and hope it comes through soon.
  3. Quick question- my PMV runs out end of April. What is the next step for me once I'm married? Many thanks. To those waiting for their visa to come through I was in the same boat and the wait was killing me but now I'm here all that is quickly forgotten. It certainly does get better
  4. Thanks Pat- to be honest I'd just like to start working and earning. So I'm looking for anything and everything at the moment
  5. Hi guys- my visa has been granted and I can now work in Brisbane. Anyone have any hints or tips on finding work? I've mainly worked in office environments in the UK. Thanks
  6. My PMV was granted 28 July 2014- I had to go offshore so had 4 days in Auckland. Now I'm looking for a job :-)
  7. Hi Lauren, I'll give you my experience. I'm in Brisbane on a 3 month tourist visa. I've been informed by my case officer that I can go offshore at the end of the month and the visa will be granted. I flew last Friday on a one way ticket. I was worried that I would be pulled up at immigration. I put down 3 months on the card for my stay. However, I wan't asked anything, I gave my card over and they said go to the exit to my left. Hope that helps. I suppose everyone might have a different experience. Kind Regards Mark
  8. I came over last Friday before my visa has been issued. Contacted my CO and I am arranging to go to New Zealand on the 27th July so that my visa can be processed. Nearly there. The wait is worth it even though it's a struggle when you haven't seen your loved one for so long.
  9. Hi, yes my name is Mark :-) The first 2 weeks in January were really humid and I did find it hard as we don't have air conditioning (making sure our next house does though). I didn't bother with an agent. I did all the forms myself. My CO contacted me a month after the visa was received at the embassy. I've recently contacted her to inform her of going over to wait for the visa to come through. She's told me she can grant mine at the end of July as it will then be 8 months until our wedding. We couldn't wait so I'm flying over 3 weeks this Thursday. The countdown has begun
  10. Hi there, yes I've been there twice now. The last time was 6 weeks over Dec and January. The wait has been very tough. It will have been 6 months since I've seen Claire. Strangely enough there's even more anticipation and longing now we know we'll be together in less than 4 weeks time. Emails to my CO I know she will be issuing my visa at the end of July. Then it's all about finding work.
  11. That's great thanks very much. My fiancee moved from NSW and is still getting used to the areas herself. She's only going on what others have told her so the more information we the better.
  12. Hi Elven My visa won't be granted until end of July but I made the decision to go over on 3rd July to be with my fiancee. It was all very exciting but as it's only 4 weeks away nerves are kicking in. It's all becoming very real. Leaving my family and the fact that you just can't go back for a weekend is on my mind. I'm leaving my 12 and 13 year old daughter and son which has been the main sticking point. But you can't help who you fall in love with and as it's been mentioned that you just can't go through life with a 'what if' hanging over you. I'm 44 and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be doing this but what an adventure for myself and the fact my children can come over for long holidays to somewhere where they may never have visited in their lives. I'm off to North of Brisbane, Warner. my fiancee hasn't heard good things about South of Brisbane - apologies to those that might live there and like it- maybe you could enlighten us. Once I'm over we're looking to move more towards Albany Creek/Bridgeman Downs area. There's a group of Brits that meet together ever month in North Lakes. There's one second week in July. See the Thread about moving to Brisbane - http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/queensland/175487-anyone-moving-brisbane-2014-a-10.html So excitement and nerves all rolled into one isn't a bad thing at all
  13. Guys, just looking for advice. I'm going over before my visa is granted so will need to go offshore when I get the email. Where the best/cheapest place to fly to whilst the visa is granted and would it have to be for 2 days? Just planning ahead :-)
