  1. Me too, but then I'm from Newcassel upon Tyne
  2. I get bitten to bits here, even through the day sometimes! I find it particularly bad early evening where we live now, I'm trying something called 'The Locals Sandfly and Mozzie Stuff' which has very good reviews.
  3. The picture I posted was Northumberland, it has some beautiful beaches. The stories in Vera are usually fairly bleak and the effects used in filming reflects that.
  4. Well I've seen them in real life and they are beautiful,
  5. The beaches in Yorkshire and Northumberland are all sandy, it was a great shock to me when I first saw a pebbly beach on the South Coast.
  6. Do you realise this thread in 10 years old?
  7. I agree with you, even though I’m not alone I still struggle at Christmas. As I’ve got older I try to just accept that It will be a quiet time and appreciate the fact that that I won’t have to deal with family dramas.
  8. And move to a country with a high risk of catching COVID - even more ridiculous.
  9. Who exactly has advised you it’s unsafe to have the vaccine? Obviously not a cardiac specialist if you can’t get an exemption.
  10. No rent or mortgage here either and we don't live a lavish lifestyle and have recently retired.
  11. I disagree, there's no way we could live on 30K a year and we're in Perth. Quoll's living expenses sound much more realistic.
  12. You can certainly get home deliveries in WA when in self quarantine.
  13. You can draw your super before 60 if you've reached your preservation age.
  14. I'm a night owl so not having to get up early is bliss! I've just been offered 2 months work at my old job and I'm hating the thought of early mornings but at least it's for a limited time
  15. Perth zoo is lovely, especially if you like orang-utans
  16. We were staying in Hahndorf last weekend while visiting SA from Perth, it was much busier than I remembered. We are thinking of relocating to Adelaide but the areas we like in the Hills are ridiculously expensive . Were you able to negotiate a reasonable rate for staying in the AirBnB for an extended stay?
  17. There are certainly some areas where there are a large number of Brits but they are hardly ghettos there are also some suburbs where there are high numbers of South Africans and Somalians. No different to how Richmond in Melbourne was in the past when the majority of families were Greek
  18. No, the closest qualification is Child Health Nurse.
  19. There are no restrictions on travelling to other States from Tasmania.
  20. Well I've lived here over 30 years and definitely wouldn't describe it as the Columbia of the Antipodes
