  1. That depends on whether they decide they want more information and their processing priorities. Some people's visas come through soon after medicals; some people wait ages. There really isn't a fixed timeline.
  2. Some people get invited the next day, others never get an invite. There are more applicants than places. As an example Victoria received over 15,000 applications in the first week or so after its programme reopened.
  3. … had PR … it has now expired. If they apply for, and are granted, an RRV then the most they will get is one year validity. A visitor visa won’t “cancel out” future RRV eligibility, but can, in some circumstances, make things more complicated.
  4. Yes, for the last 10 years. This is needed so they know what police checks you need to supply. Yes, you can, but you obviously risk having to repeat them if they expire.
  5. I do sense that low-risk 309s are taking somewhat longer than they were at the height of the pandemic - this would be consistent with the reduced numbers available in this, new, programme year. The 100 times may be a reflection of them finally making decisions on applications that have been outstanding for ages, at the expense of more recent applications. Remember, the numbers are backwards looking, not a reflection of expected processing times for new applications.
  6. Broadly speaking yes … but I agree with Marisa that you need some professional advice … if you’re filling in a 189 application, then (presumably) you have a skills assessment and English test In hand?
  7. If you want to apply for a permanent skilled visa (like the 190), you need a positive skills assessment. If the assessing authority requires a formal qualification to provide this (which they do), then that’s what you need in order to obtain the positive skills assessment. What is required (or not) to do the job in the UK is irrelevant. If you are discussing this with a registered migration agent, then I’m sure they will explain all of this in the context of your specific circumstances.
  8. OTT is skills assessed by VETASSESS and is a 'Category D' occupation: "Skills Assessment Criteria: Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Certificate IV with a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of postqualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years; OR Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Certificate IV without a highly relevant field of study and at least two years of postqualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years; OR Qualification(s) assessed at AQF Certificate III with a highly relevant field of study and at least three years of postqualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years; Note: For pre-qualification employment (if all of your employment is before your qualifications assessed at the AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV level), three years of highly relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years."
  9. Alternatively, they make you provide so much evidence so they are in a position to approve the maximum number of applications. It is interesting though that the 20-21 refusal rate was much lower than usual. I suspect they were cherry-picking from the queue somewhat.
  10. Personally, I upload everything (other than a passport photo) as pdf files.
  11. Yes, and that may make sense in your situation.
  12. You receive notification of the grant as soon as you lodge the partner visa. As you say, it comes into effect when the visitor visa expires.

  14. 5010 is not a "condition" on a current visa, rather it is a bar that prevents the grant of some other visas to some sponsored or "foreign affairs" students for designated periods of time. If you think this applies to you, I suggest you seek some professional assistance to understand how this works.

    Form 965a

You should use Form 956 to end a registered migration agent's appointment. This can be done in your immi account.
  16. I can only speak for myself, but timelines are dictated by how swiftly the client provides the information I ask for. If you have provided everything and have been waiting a long time for something to happen, then you need to ask what the issues are. Sometimes, of course, both sides think that they are waiting for the other person to do something!
  17. I agree - there are lots of moving parts to what you have suggested and you need to make sure that things are done properly.
  18. Have you confirmed that you are eligible for a visa - this is obviously the first step?
  19. It’s a bit hard to answer without seeing how you answered the various questions on the application. Drop me a line via my website and I’ll see if I can help.
  20. No - there are no "allowances" - if you do not meet the 2 in 5 requirement, you will need to apply on the basis of "substantial ties of benefit'. The borders were never closed to permanent residents (other than for a few weeks from India).
  21. No … but there is no need to. The 801 can be granted on- or offshore.
  22. My sense is that offshore applications have slowed in some cases, particularly if they are not 100% decision ready.
