  13. Hi suzi, we are moving over in January. My friend lives in varsity lakes and her son is in prep/year 1 at varsity. hows things? My kids are 9,7(soon to be 8) and 6. Will catch up in jan /Feb when we arrive if that is good for you? im from Falkirk originally and been in Glasgow for a number of years..
  14. Good luck. My hubby and I both liked that area when we looked a few years ago. Really liked new estate at mango hill. But his family at Victoria point (se of Brisbane) and his brother in spring mountain (sw of Brisbane) so decided to go south of Brisbane xx
  15. Thank you Lainey, I had read your previous post about your loss, just awful being taken so young, we recently lost a friend to breast cancer who leaves 2 young girls and life is far too short so you've got to try. I hope my own kids develop that confidence and I think it is about their education also. Nice to hear you are so positive. We always aimed north GC as hubbys family in VIc Point but xcoming over we found Gilston and signed our names to a block of land... 20 mins to beach but nearly 30 to Burleigh.. I love Burleigh but didn't want to live on the beach but hopefully we can rest somwhere in walking distance to beach whilst our house getting built. We stood on the land and it 'felt right'... strange but true. Where abouts on GC are you? Hopefully catch up for coffee n chat when we get there, we arrive early Jan and kids start school end January then I will not know what to do with myself as want to be available for them as much as poss initially dependent on $$. Thank you for your lovely reply, I will be in bits leaving all my friends and family here but I've got to think about what is best for us.... Lynn x
  16. I am applying on partner visa. I'm assuming I can apply straight to ANMAC?. I was previously registered in oz when it was state nursing boards.. Got a form printed out..... Also my nmc expires October 2016 so trying to ensure I am up to date with that Before I leave as don't want to let uk reg lapse at the moment.... Dunno what to do as arrive in jan.. Don't want to work for a few months but may Have to if oh does not find work easily. I feel for a couple of months it would be worth doing registration June 2016 and get a full year.... But maybe easier to register from here if I need to send/sort anything else...
  17. We have always said we would come here since forever and then we said before kids go to school, oldest now 9.5, next 8, youngest 6. I did whv in 2000/2001, hubby came here 2002 and we met up stayed in touch got together and have a good life in Scotland but dd was diagnosed with type 1diabetes dec 2013, and we came out on a planned trip January 2014. The first summer we had done with the kids. They had a ball. I find the Australians a confident nation (sometimes too much ) and I feel in Scotland at least we apologise for everything...but we have the opportunity to try it so applied for my visa and waiting. Did a recce and moving to South Gold Coast. In laws in Victoria point and spring mountain... I wanted less than 30min to beach . im a nurse to trade so hoping it all works out. I'd regret it more never trying and giving kids the experience/opportunity....
  18. where are you moving from? We are flying over in January so need to ship in December. Done loads of clearing and not much selling but too much for 20ft container at the moment... Need to decide what we really want to take..... Don't want to pay for 40ft... Had Anglo Pacific pickfords and clockwork out. Crown coming on Monday but will start haggling then decide.... Guy from Anglo Pacific v knowledgeable and spied an oil lamp with fir/pine cone stuff in it it can't go... Had two friends used pickfords. One just gone so waiting on goods and other friend one small breakage otherwise all good x

  20. @Dnursey, I am with gbyeGRey Sky, I loved the night zoo but obviously I was on my own without kids then... I did city tour to orientate myself , had a wee wander around shopping malls. Diwali was on whilst we were there which was lovely. On our last day we had late flight home and had to be out of hotel, we went to the cinema- air conditioning was a must Its all happening for you. I am waiting for visa now, Medicals and police check all uploaded, house up for sale and flights booked for 4th Jan, we are staying in Burleigh mariner shores for a week before school starts. Will have 3 weeks toorganise a rental when we get there... I still need to do nurse registration in oz.... hopefully catch up in january ( we have 3 kids theyll be 9,8 and 6 when we arrive 2 girls 1 boy)
  21. @ballbox, I still need to do my AHPRA/ANMAC stuff..... also need to revalidate / organise it all before NMC changes next year.... wish I had renewed this year and then I would know whether it was worth keeping my UK registration... what do you do and where ru going?
