    Apologies for causing a problem but I asked via pm as HH had been previously helpful and previous queries on open forum have not been answered... I asked on open forum in hope I may get answers or... But seems to have cause more hassle. I know ppl gripe on here so I wanted an opinion from someone who had previously responded.....

    @blondie so sorry to hear about your son. Feel free to pm if. You want. My dd was diagnosed in dec 2013 and huge shock etc... But nhs fantastic. It's funny cos we came to oz the jan after she was diagnosed and seeing her out n about was what prompted Us To actually move.. We had Talked about it for.Years... we know we will need to pay and it was such a stress giving up all the support we had at home... Yes australian healthcare will be interesting but schools so switched on and proactive about her care... yes I love the nhs but it cannot continue in its current state. hugs xx

    We moved in January and struggling to get decent rental.... So decided to buy somewhere... kids at school in burleigh. Wanting to spend 450k approx... Some leeway. looked at Coomera decided ormeau too long a commute... Looking Pacific pines oxenford to reedy creek probably. Did think pimpama/Coomera feasible to travel but now not so sure.... want 4bed garage etc.. Some garden as 3young kids... Pool not nec and we need to increase budget a bit... complexes?? Villaworld...??We may hold onto it if we can afford to whilst building so thinking long term investment/retirement.. sorry long post TIA xx

    @The Raillys we looked at mango hill north of Brisbane and really liked it but drove back to Brisbane one day and.... Not great road network setup... Few friends said don't go north of pine river if commuting into Brisbane. We opted Gold Coast for that reason and looked at ormeau .. Coomera etc all opening up just now and between both but you've got to feel it's right for u. Keep an eye on commonwealth games jobs too. Good luck xx

    @Cazwilkins the only thing I would say is baggage. We just emigrated and we normally have 2bags between 5 but this time we had 7 bags.... My friend travelled prior to landing and she left her wedding /engagement ring at home as worried re losing it whilst travelling round Asia. Good luck sounds fab. We had spoken about a 3/6 month trip round Europe in a camper van before we left...

    What about if you keep it in a fund that is recognised in oz? Can u keep it till retirement and use it as pension fund? Or kids uni fees?

    Hi Ruth, we have just moved over. Will be living south Gold Coast, we have 3 kids aged 9,8 and 6. 2girls and a boy. Maria my oldest one got an iPod touch from Santa and it has been so good to let her stay in touch with friends. They are all a bit apprehensive about starting school. Send me a pm and hopefully catch up Lynn x

    Sorry not been on for ages. We had a few companies in and all were approx 3800-4200 for a 20ft container. They all reduced their prices slightly and one of your deciding factors may also be if you require storage at either end. We managed to swing one month free storage but decided to go with Anglo Pacific. Packing crew were fab. But still to see what happens this side... Our container been delayed once as one ship was overbooked.... Fingers x it gets here in feb as planned. Good luck x

    @george8181 tough... Everyones parents are different. I am about to fly on 4th Jan taking my 3 kids to Oz. But AUstralian grandparents have not seen them v often... We only get one shot at life and I am sorry your sibling has to go on and on at you.... Do they not realise how awful we feel at leaving them all... but gotta do what is right at the time for your own family... Could you speak on the phone to your dad and say you heard he had been upset adn how sorry you are but hope he understands...? Take care xx

    So.. We fly in January house sale in process... Probably won't settle till feb /March... Do we need to declare for tax purposes. Joint ownership marital home with 3kids... Owned since 2007... thanks

    we've booked a car with apex, we booked with them last time. They collect you at airport when u call and reasonable prices. This time we have booked for 1 month to give us time to buy a car then we are doing one way hire so pick up Brisbane drop at Coolangatta as we'll be living dow there. Would be a good excuse to head to DFO tho to drop at Brisbane

    @lauraj1988 it is a stressful process but hopefully worthwhile. We are flying on 4th January but moving to Gold Coast. I'll be honest and say we loved the look of Mango hill and the estate being built and the school there. There is a new train line under construction but my hubbys family are south and south east brisbane so we decided it was too far from them. Yes the road into Brisbane is a nightmare adn we have friends at Michelton and they suggested not going north of Strathpine due to the commute but as people say you may be lucky and get job locally so will only go into Brisbane for some things occasionally and not regularly. Same as where you are now, I assume you are in London very rarely to shop / sightsee? Look forward to hearing how you get on good luck x

    @MaybeOzIsForUs I have had a similar quandary. I married an Australian after we had both done whv. I loved oz but always said I would live in nz. Then met hubby and always agreed one day... Roll on nearly 15 years 3 kids.... 9,8,6yrs old... Always going before they started school. Quandary is - good life here good friends and network. To move to the Other side of the world... But I figure I'd regret it more not trying it. Will miss so many people. I'm lucky I still have both parents who are able to come over but not the same.... Gotta think about my kids and hoping we give them more opportunities and e xperiences ..... We're flying January 4th.... if we didn't go now it will be too late I think. My oldest will still have 2yrs in junior school this way. Big fear of taking the leap but... Here goes... Good luck and do what's right for you all and no regrets

    @Soffy999 I waited nearly 11months and I've been longest yet... You'll see signature I applied dec24th medical and police check sept 2015, been married since 2004 3 kids and only granted Monday 16th November. Def email and follow up with call... Who's your case officer mine was initially aw then changed to dp... Good luck x

    Crown or anglo pacific... we've narrowed it to... but going to gold coast and crown have offices in brisbane whilst anglo pacific use 3rd party potentially OSS?? Anyone with suggestions or experience good and bad. We will probably need storage also over there... Thanks Lynn
