  1. 2 big points for me. 1. Good internet 2. Goos transport links Many regional areas fail on one or both of these.
  2. At what point did you apply to SA for the state sponsorship please?
  3. Not ideal but how about asking them if they have a friend who could come for a while when you move? It will give them time to settle whilst having some familiarity.
  4. From what I understand the 489 is valid for 4 years. Within that 4 years you need to have lived and worked in the regional area for 2. So you should be ok.
  5. Your post doesn't make much sense. However if I have understood it correctly you're concerned about not doing any GCSE work in Year 9? If so I wouldn't worry as the UK switched back to the old system. GCSE coursework and study is carried out in 10 and 11 only. All exams are taken you you're in Year 11.
  6. Whoever gets processed first should buy the other a drink when we both finally get there. [emoji6]
  7. You might find these PTE resources useful. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSAhiEs5XzvX3lNSnRxc3NWcU0?usp=sharing The Essay structure here is what got me over the hurdle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_-u0fHQetQ https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wAKkcUDc4PId3m-WjqxZfjQFG9D6tZ1DiNYomVZ2G2w/edit?usp=sharing
  8. I didn't think about settling in. I plan to stay with my relatives in Brisbane for a month or so. Gives me time to get over the jet lag and have a general rest. It also lets me to get online and start to find a place to live. What part of South Australia do you have in mind?
  9. It's been about 3 for me. I started by getting myself qualified in my job (I didn't go to college or University when I left school). That wasn't too much of a problem. But it took way too long to do my PTE I struggled with that. I nearly gave up. The job description thing is weird. I was previously assed in a higher position as a Network Engineer. That requires 80 points for SA. I changed to the lower position as Network Administrator and that requires 70 points. Not logical in my opinion. In December I get 5 more points so I guess that helps. Christmas might not be the best time to go anyway. Doesn't the Australian summer holiday usually mean a reduction in recruitment?
  10. Surfers is a tourist area (especially for younger people) so you will have an increased amount of crime. Also an increased amount of traffic, noise, etc. The sunshine coast is also a tourist area but more quiet. For Brisbane I quite like the Northern side. There are areas such as Aspley that have good connections via bus and trains to the CBD. The public transport is great in Brisbane. (Compared to the North onlf England).
  11. The plus side with your situation is that you have plenty of time for the visa process. I am itching to go. I need to get cracking with the next chapter in my life. What occupation are you going under? I have gone under Network Administrator. (Despite being an IT Manager in real life!)
  12. I sat the PTE too many times. I kept getting just a few marks short on the writing. I signed up to e2 Lanague. I then got 90 90 90 85. Well worth the investment.
  13. I will also be leaving home at the same time! I am 27 and should have moved out earlier. But I have been delaying moving out because of the Australia thing. I am going to turn up with my suitcases and nothing else. Iam independent so I should be fine. I have family in Brisbane but that's a long way from Adelaide. However I am very close to them and see them more often than relatives who live around the corner. So it will be closer them so not so bad.
  14. Jellica - are you going with a partner or family like Jon and Sophie? I am going alone.
  15. I submitted my application this week. Hopefully it will be closer to the front and not get stuck at the bottom of the pile. Do they process these in occupation groups or is it just first come first served?
  16. I am from near Manchester. Are you in the area still?
  17. I have been. I used to work for SunCorp on my working holiday visa and I briefly visted.
  18. Oh sorry. I the mobile app chopped off the /190 from the title! I didn't find the rates as such. On the SOL this position stayed on Green. It didn't go to blue or red or go to the high 90 points. I am assuming this is due to low demand. This occupation isn't on any other state 489, 190 or the 189 so this will help. I hope we do get to do that. I will bring the beers!
  19. I thought you was going for a 489? I'm hoping they prioritize by job. Mine (after a change and new assesment) had a lower application rate last year compared to many.
  20. Hello I did the same this week on the same day as you. I have 70 points. How many points do you have?
  21. I would check Airbnb should be loads of options on there that are cheaper than holiday rentals.
  22. I get what you mean but you can't expect the agent to work for free. Especially when it isn't simple like your situation. Nobody on here can give you a definitive yes or no.
  23. The Sky equivalent is Foxtel. The boxes are nearly identical. Although you might be better with a streaming service!
