  1. I think its just a case of getting the citizenship and then applying for the passport once you have it. Someone who knows more about it will be able to confirm or correct me. Congrats on the baby by the way!
  2. The baby will have Australian citizenship by descent - https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/citi/pathways-processes/application-options/descent Im not an expert but I would have though going down this route and get an Australian passport would be best.
  3. Just to add. I have 60 points and I am applying under "Computer Network and Systems Engineer" . I have any ACS assessment. Thanks
  4. Hello, Does anyone have any rough ideas of the processing time on the 489 visa please? I am looking at getting sponsorship for South Australia via the invited pathway. I haven't submitted an EOI yet. The department of home affairs website isn't helpful, it just says "Unavailable due to low volume of applications.' - https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/visa-1/489- Many Thanks
  5. Booking is easy enough. They want to make it easy to take your money! Are you an native english speaker? The feedback from others is that the speaking part is difficult for people from India. I suggest your partner practises on this software: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxSAhiEs5XzvYzE0SDhQYXN6OFU There are loads of videos on this YouTube channel to help - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvSdD8_0DAKn-ThHWhAhoAg/videos For the essay this structure works, gives you high written discourse and is easy to use. - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wAKkcUDc4PId3m-WjqxZfjQFG9D6tZ1DiNYomVZ2G2w/edit?usp=sharing All PTE essay prompts ask your view and opinions so this will work. I also suggest you understand how this is scored so you know where to pick up the marks. There is some negative marking on the reading section so on some questions its not a good idea to guess if you don't know the answer. https://pearsonpte.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Score-Guide.pdf
  6. Good to hear everything is falling into place. Best of luck with the move.
  7. Hello, I am a qualified network engineer and I am applying under "Computer Network and Systems Engineer" - Basically I work in IT. Do you want to live in South Australia in the long term? I would like to go to Brisbane in the end. Thanks to those who sent their congratulations. JB
  8. I can't believe trains got a mention in number 1. They are far from great.
  9. Just 60. Not ideal but enough to get things going. I did plan to go for a 189 but they are not processing EOI for 60 points (does anyone know when this might change?) I am now looking at South Australian sponsorship. I can't let these PTE scores expire as I might not be able to do it again so I need to do what I can really.
  10. What exam are you taking? I did the PTE and got them marks I needed today! This site helped. They have loads of training content and have online tutorials - https://www.e2language.com/ This link has some PTE resources. - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSAhiEs5XzvX3lNSnRxc3NWcU0?usp=sharing This is the PTE score guide - https://pearsonpte.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Score-Guide.pdf
  11. Hello, It has taken me nearly 18 months, but I finally got the PTE marks I need. I needed 79 marks and I was struggling in the writing. This has been the hardest thing of my life! I I sat the exam yesterday and this was going to be the last time I do it, I had enough! I got my results today. I got: 90 - Speaking 90 - Listening 90 - Reading 85 - Writing I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! I stopped coming on here because it was getting me down. I am glad to say I am back! Expression Of Interest is already in! Cheers
  12. Just to confirm, this is 100% correct, I regular fly Singapore Airlines. Don't push the limit as you may get charged extra. Your first flight is the Airbus A350, it is the best aircraft int he fleet. You will have the latest seats and in flight entertainment. You will also get UK, Australian and USB power sockets. The A350 is really quiet and smooth as well. Is your second flight on SQ245? If so it will be an older Boeing 777-200ER. They are the oldest in the fleet I am afraid. Most of the fleet have quite old in flight entertainment, no power and some seats have boxes under the seat in front that houses a computer for the in flight entertainment. What are your seat numbers? I can tell you if you have this box or not and help you avoid the boxes. 2 in the fleet have been refitted with newer seats that have better in flight entertainment, UK, Australian and USB power sockets. They also don't have the boxes. But it still won't be as good as the A350. You might be lucky and get that one on the day. They are swapping all the Brisbane flights to Airbus A350s so depending when you fly you might have the same aircraft type as you have on the Manchester route.
  13. It was 2013 I think. They didn't double it but offered 10KG extra. At the time the limit was 20KG to it made it up to 30KG.
  14. Singapore Airlines will do it for temp visas. They did it for my working holiday visa.
  15. Singapore Airlines don't do that, but their allowance is 30KG anyway. Also another point, just because it is in the hold doesn't mean it has to be a in a suitcase. I have loaded cardboard boxes a number of times.
  16. If you are flying Business Class with Singapore Airlines you will get 50KG each if on a one way ticket. This is in addition to the standard 40kg You will need to contact customer services beforehand though.
  17. It depends on how good you are with coming up with the content. If he can do the content fairly quick he should be ok. There are loads of resources on this link - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSAhiEs5XzvX3lNSnRxc3NWcU0?usp=sharing There is an exam simulator in this link. It is also timed so that will give you a good indicator. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxSAhiEs5XzvYzE0SDhQYXN6OFU/view?usp=sharing
  18. I have done the PTE 3 times. I need 79 and I keep getting 76 / 77 in the written!! I have not done it for ages as it got be down a little. I am in Australia visiting family and I am going to give is another try. Is the Cambridge something new? I didn't know about this one until now. Thanks
  19. I am 25 Nope Im migrating under a network engineer. 9 years experience. But they only count 7 as the first 2 years I was under 18. (started work at 16) No going for the 189 visa. My qualifications (CCNP) are from December 2015 so have to wait a few years to claim points from that. Thanks
  20. I can get 60 points. 20 of those are from the English. I have even had an English teach assist me but the marks are staying about the same.
  21. Thanks for the support. I just feel like giving up at the moment its so frustrating!
  22. Hello, I have taken my PTE exam 3 times now and have been just a few marks short from 79 on the written section. All other areas are fine. No matter what I am dong I am still short. Can anyone recommend any tutors who could assist me please? I am living near Manchester. Thanks
  23. The FoxTel boxes are nearly identical to Sky+ / SkyHD boxes. So if you're happy with Sky+ Foxel will be good also. For broadband if you are in an NBN area you can get that without a landline. iiNET are a good provider that provide that. For mobile reception Telstra have the best. You might be best of getting a bundle with the broadband. You will find all these services are more expensive than the UK. Also many of the internet connections have download limits, something that isn't common in the UK.
  24. I never knew that, I didn't notice when I went for my WHV and never got asked. It was a number of years ago though. Either way you have the money so can prove it if need be.
