  1. Good shout! There is a store in Aspley in Brisbane. They have been very helpful in the past.
  2. Thanks very much, it would be appreciated. I used Manchester. I haven't booked another test. I have a friend who is an A-Level & GCSE English teacher who can tutor me. However she is in Spain for the summer so might wait until she is back. Thanks again.
  3. Have you tried eBay? They are not cheap buying for the UK but you might be better off getting them whilst you are in Australia and using your power strip to keep you going until they arrive. 4. When he takes them, I would be grateful if you could please provide feedback on this tread. I am looking at purchasing those mocks. Thanks http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/249891-how-many-goes-did-take-you-pass-pte-academic-superior-time-not-our-side.html
  5. Hello, I am wondering if anyone has taken the official PTE practice exam found here? - https://ptepractice.com/ I am wondering when you get your results, are they any different from the real exam please? Or do you get more precise information as to where marks have been lost? If its not suitable can you recommend anything please? I would like to know the specifics on what I am doing wrong. Thanks
  6. I have taken it twice, I got the required scores in Listening, Reading and Speaking both times. The writing is proving the be more difficult for me, I got the same score on both first and second attempt. I got 75. There are some resources here you might find useful - https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BxSAhiEs5XzvX3lNSnRxc3NWcU0&usp=sharing In there you will find some software you can run on your PC. 7. Thanks, I have a friend who is a GCSE and A-Level teacher. She said she will tutor me in exchange for tea and biscuits. But unfortunately she has gone on holiday for the summer holidays. I might take a gamble and go for it again. Thanks for the link. Im so close but so far!
  8. 90 90 88 and got 74 again on written! argh!! I scored low on the written discourse, but spelling and grammar improved, no idea whats going on!
  9. I am going for the 189 under Computer Network andSystems Engineer. Also my last hurdle before the EOI. Thanks, also best of luck.
  10. This is handy as well. - http://pearsonpte.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/PTEA_Score_Guide.pdf My test is also tomorrow in Manchester. Don't suppose you will be there as well?
  11. Your husband will need a tax file number. I think you can get one from the UK though, but im not 100%.
  12. Its a bit ironic that Tony Blair after leaving as PM was the middle east quartet representative. Someone who is heavily involved with the peace process.
  13. Written disclosure is the style of writing I believe. If you write in a more formal way you will get more marks. I have attached a writing template that will help. TIP: In your essay include a couple of these Idioms, you will pickup a couple more marks in the writing section. http://www.smart-words.org/quotes-sayings/idioms-meaning.html Idioms such as "Hot Potato", "Think Outside of The Box" & "Each To Their Own" could be easily slotted into the style of essays in the PTE exams. This score guide will help see how you can pickup extra marks to get you over the hump. - http://pearsonpte.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/PTEA_Score_Guide.pdf Don't loose marks on silly mistakes and typos. Check for capital letters and full stops. I have the same problem as you. I got 90, 90, 85 and 75 in my writing. Just those few points short! 14. Are you going as a family or on your own? If you're on your own for example, a room in a house of flat might be the best place to start. I wouldn't worry about the lack of nobody giving you a job. In my job, when going through applications I am seriously put off when a person is not in the country. But once you have arrived things should change.
  15. When I got mine 5 year ago, it took 2 weeks to come back. The application had no issues etc. You might just been to be patient.
  16. You don't have to do an English test. But many (maybe most) need it to boost the points. If you can get enough points without the English exam, good news. But it sounds like you will need to do it. Your degree (even if it was English) cannot be use to boost the points, you need to take IELTS or Pearson PTE exam. I think under some occupations you can take other exams. You should trust your agent a little more. Look here under the points test tab - https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189-
  17. She will get her own visa as well. She will not have restrictions and she can work.
  18. Now its in you can't change. However if they feel you suit another roll better they will change it for you.
  19. I have a HSBC account in the UK and Australia. I get "global view" in the online banking so I can see both accounts side by side. I can transfer money for free (and its instant!). I can call HSBC Australia by phoning the UK number and asking to be put through. No expensive calls! However you can't just walk into a UK branch and do stuff with your Australia account and vice versa. Im with HSBC in the UK because the service has been really good (compared to my old Natwest account!)
  20. We can old dream about the Brisbane trains here
  21. Manybe it's just up North where its poor. Manchester and the surrounding areas is a good example. The train services operated by Northern Rail are poor, over crowded, expensive and unreliable. The pacer trains are a nightmare. Literally a bus body and a train carriage. They are sending old London Underground trains to Manchester. The bus service is OK in the center but into the outer towns its poor. The Tram is ok but slow for the outer towns. For example it takes 45 mins - 1 hour to get from Rochdale to Manchester. It takes 20 mins on the train and the number 17 bus is quicker than the tram.
  22. For example? All over the North of England is bad. Compare it to other countries and London and its shocking.
  23. Hello! I am new as well. Welcome
  24. I sent a polite email with all my problems, asking for a small refund to cover costs and this was the reply.
