  1. You don't have to hold any visa to apply for the 489.
  2. If you canceled the 457 visa then it isn't current. So I would answer no.
  3. SunCorp also has insurance offices in Sydney although it is a much smaller operation. They inherited offices from the acquisition of other companies such as Promina. I'm a bit out of touch with it so they might be phasing people out at these offices.
  4. Thanks very much. There is someone else on here who applied the same day to SA. Interesting to see who comes first.
  5. That is the wait time for South Australia state nomination applications.
  6. I applied in mid July. Nothing as yet. I expect to hear back the end of October at the earliest.
  7. Ah I see. Well since they have put the minimum points up to 65 many people who previously went for the 189 are now going for the 190 and 489. So they will be overwhelmed. South Australia doubled the wait time to 15 - 20 weeks. I am 6 weeks in and applied to SA fo state sponsorship.
  8. Has the state confirmed they will sponsor you please?
  9. I worked for SunCorp in Brisbane and there is a big presence there. SunCorp and other brand insurance companies (such as AAMI) in the group operate from there.
  10. Just to add - Singapore baggage allowance is for economy is 30KG split among no limit of cases. Buinsess Class is 40KG
  11. I did it on my working holiday visa. I emailed them and attached a copy of the grant email. They added a note to the booking and when I checked in there were no issues.
  12. Have you booked the ticket? Some airlines such as Singapore Airlines give you free extra baggage when you're on a migration flight.
  13. Be careful on the direct flight. The aircraft can only just make it so the weight has to be managed. You are best off booking it in advance to avoid disappointment.
  14. The 489 family sponsorship invites are low. They only invite 10 per month and that is an 80 point minimum - link below. You would have more of a chance if you apply for the 489 State Sponsorship. These figures are not reflected in the link. https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/WorkinginAustralia/Pages/11-july-2018-invitation-round.aspx
  15. Hi, I don't want this to turn into a debate about in vs out please. I would just like some balanced discussion. The way I am thinking is that the pound will loose value when the UK leaves the EU in March 2019. With or without a deal. If this happens I will get less AUD when (assuming I am granted the visa) I move over to Australia. I am thinking about moving over most my savings into my Australian bank account this side of Christmas to get the best out of them. Should the value drop after Brexit and I don't get a visa I can move it back will still be better off. If the pounds doesn't drop I will be about the same. I am wondering what people think about this please? Am I on the right track do you think? Thanks
  16. I am involved with recruitment in my day job in the UK. The applications that stand out are the ones where they have clearly shown they meet the essential (and desirable) criteria. I personally like applications that put each essential criteria as a heading and a passage as to why you meet this. It makes is much easier to shortlist and makes it more likely you will be put through. Depending on the companies application process this could be on the application form itself or on an attached cover letter to go with a CV. If you think something isn't relevant don't remove it from the CV there are always "bonus" duties that are not covered in the job description. Also keep it to the point - this is an extreme example but I once had an application form that had 15 pages of why they met the criteria - it wasn't read!
  17. And from the magic of Google.... https://www.tradesrecognitionaustralia.gov.au/programs-job-ready-program/fees
  18. This ^^^ Think of this in a job interview situation. When I am recruiting IT staff for work people straight out of university are not considered as skilled and will usually fill the lower positions until they get some experience under their belt. The first couple of years was deducted from my ACS and when I look back at that time I wasn't skilled.
  19. You need to be careful when you get your medicals done. You only have 12 months between the date of medical and the first entry date. You could leave yourself very short on time if you get your medicals done now and your grant comes in 11 months. This isn't an unrealistic possibly.
  20. I have an original letter here from when I got a Tax File Number in 2011 on a working holiday visa. It says on the letter that the Tax File Number will remain with you for life.
  21. All of our lives are on hold. I am iching to move on - I am living at home and want my own place. No point doing that in the UK.
  22. We lodged just as the processing time went up. In theory we should be closer to the older processing time frames.
  23. No you don't include Australia. Further down in a section for travel in and out of Australia. You would put any travel outside of your current country - I assume that is the UK?
  24. @Jellica It has been 1 month! It has gone quite quickly, I thought it would drag. If it takes 20 weeks thats 20% done and 26% (ish) if it takes 15 weeks.
