1. Hi . I'm looking for the best sim card deals, and best rates for calling the UK. With plenty of gigabytes for Skype calls and Internet searches. I will be based in Katanning thanks.
2. Hi everyone, my wife and I are hoping for news of our 457 visa application, expecting to hear any day soon, and she thinks she can feel a lump in her breast (her mother and sister died from it).She wont go to get it checked out because of our application. As I am the main applicant, would it affect her if she was diagnosed before the visa was granted, would our visa be granted and the health problem dealt with under reciprical care with the UK, or is this the end of the line for us? Thanks in anticipation!!
3. Oh no....I`ve packed all our medications and painkillers and they`re in the storage container waiting to be shipped. I have declared it all on the customs sheet, are they going to have a problem with this? I`m stressed now.

Vetassess

Hi.Good luck with your vetassess application. I have already been emailed my first half results about 12 days ago by email, and now I have applied for the technical/practical test, but I haven't heard anything about this new method of notifying applicants by post. I am using an agent.
5. Hi....The question didn't get answered. Can anyone describe what is actually involved in the welding practical (First Class Welder) here in the UK please?
6. I don't understand this thread..do you have to be earning a set amount here in the UK before you apply for the 457 visa, or do you mean that's the wage you have to be paid in Australia under the 457 visa rules??
7. Hi, I`ve been waiting for a reply for this one myself, we`re down for Adelaide but want to visit sick brother in Victoria when we get to Australia.....Thanks!!
8. Thanks to everyone for their replies. I have just received a successful TRA outcome, but still have the technical interview to go....looks like I may still have quite a wait. I can`t lodge my 457 until this has been done, and I cant find out what the processing times are for South Australia 457 applications. Good luck to everyone else who has applied.
9. Can any one help please? After being badly let down by a prospective employer, I have been offered a 457 visa, converting to permanent after 3 months employment, but only on condition that I get the TRA passed first, which is not a problem as I have many years experience and UK qualifications. However, no one can tell me even approximately what the timelines are. My TRA was lodged 2 weeks ago, with all paperwork certified and complete, done through an agent. I am a first class welder going to regional South Australia. We are desperate to get to Australia as brother in law seriously ill, we are in temporary accommodation at the moment, and we are paying a fortune for our goods held in storage waiting to be shipped!! Would there be any chance that we could get to Australia before Christmas, or could we go to Australia and apply from there for the 457 after completion of the TRA?
10. Hi, there are quite a few posts and recommendations on this site, just enter freight/shipping into the search box at the top of page.. This should help you to find out what you need to know. Good luck.
11. Thanks for your post, it was really interesting and informative. Good luck for the future.
12. Hi, I`m considering buying a used campervan in the UK, I know I would have to pay the charges, but how much would it (shipping) cost, and can I pack it with belongings as well? I`m thinking of paying about £10K .The prices in Australia are extortionate, Thanks.
13. Hi Imran38. Yes I have had to try for an employer sponsored visa instead, however first I have to find a sponsor, which is not proving easy. I have had quite a few employers interested in me, but they wont actually sponsor. RRV is a much less complicated way of getting a visa if you can. Good Luck whatever you decide to do.
14. I strongly recommend that you contact a migration agent or the DIAC and have a look at the visa application form. I did not apply in the end because I was advised that my timescales were not within DIAC limits. Taking proper advice would avoid disappointment in the long run. Good luck.
15. Hi everyone. We are going to Melbourne on a reccy for one month, and we are taking our laptop with us. Will there be any problem if said laptop has (amongst other things) cv, qualifications, references etc. I dont intend to work whilst there, but would continue my job hunting which would involve sending out my details to job agencies/employers. Am I doing anything wrong or illegal? Will the laptop be confiscated or anything like that? Or even worse, refused entry to the country? Advice much appreciated, thanks:huh:
16. Can anyone help me please.I am going on a months reccy, with the hope of knocking on a few doors and getting some interviews. I`m not sure if I can do this on a travel visa, also I would have to take some of my welding kit, as it is usual for welders to actually demonstrate their skills in front of potential employers. Would I need a business visa, or would I be allowed to do this on a normal visitors one?? I am trying to get sponsorship and am having not much joy because employers want me to be in Australia, which is why I`m doing this, Thanks in advance.
17. Gosh...I was sorry for myself until I read your post...we had sold our house but not shipped our stuff when we got let down...our thoughts are with you. Good luck, whatever happens in the future.
18. Excellent post, good luck to you all:ssign18:
19.

Hi, I`m weldaboy, guess what I do for a living ...Any tips on how to get a sponsorship or job please, the few enquiries from companies that I have had, go quiet when they find out I`m in the UK.

20. Hello.I`m a qualified welder with 26 years experience, who sent in all my qualifications and other personal details, and who paid your admin fee last year, and was then transferred to OBI Recruitment in November, whether I liked it or not. They have not offered me one placement, and the jobs that I got for myself they did not secure for me either. Is this what you intend to do to this intake? Can I be placed with this intake, after all I havent seen anything for my money yet ??
21. best wishes for your future, we all know its not an easy road
22. Hi, I read an article by DIAC that specifically states no plastic sleeves etc, just in order, tidy, and in a safe receptacle, envelope, box etc.
23. Thanks very much for you reply, pingpong, really helpful. We have already had a reply from the migration agent, and are going to have a go for this one.cheers
24. If you apply for the Returning Resident Visa and get turned down, do you have to wait for a certain amount of time before you can apply for a different visa?? .Thanks
25. We paid £275 to wwr back in September, I`ve just found the receipt, and it clearly states that it was a non refundable admin fee. However, we have still scanned all qualifications and certificates, passports, marriage and birth certificates, and references, which is a bit worrying. On the plus side, there seems to have been quite an influx of new jobs being advertised over the weekend, definately much more than of late (I know because I apply for about 20 a day) but still the same old problem, even if you are a good fit for the job, they wont touch you with a bargepole if you`re on a L.A. I would love to believe that we could be over there before 20th March, because I dont qualify under a normal 457 visa, thats why I dont want to confront anyone just yet, in case they CAN pull something out of the hat...this is my only hope.
