  1. Wonderful post! It took me back to when we were in Aus a couple of years back. Hoping to return if possible....... Good luck with everything!
  2. We lived in rural NSW and hardly saw any. I wore gloves for gardening, but was actually more worried about coming across a snake than spiders! (I didn't come across any snakes, by the way!). Keeping the house clean and using bug spray probably helped to keep them at bay.
  3. At the top of the page, click on the 'settings' button. Down the left hand side of that page, you will see 'edit signature' - you can put your info on there.
  4. We are applying for Partner Skills Points, and both our occupations are on the CSOL. What you can't do is have one occupation on the SOL and one on the CSOL.
  5. We used Britz for a week's hire in Oz. They were fine. Needed to pay with credit card when we booked over the internet from UK. Remember fuel costs will be on top.......
  6. Which visa are you hoping to apply for?
  7. Yes, sorry, I was a bit unclear. A further year of study, either PGCE or other Post Grad, and must have 45 days supervised teaching. 1. Educational Study assessed by AITSL as comparable to at least four years full-time (or part-time equivalent) higher education (university) level study in Australia, that results in a qualification/s comparable to the educational level of an Australian bachelor degree or higher. 2. Professional For the occupations of early childhood (pre-primary school) teacher (ANZSCO code 241111), primary school teacher (ANZSCO code 241213), middle school teacher (Aus)/Intermediate school teacher (NZ) (ANZSCO code 241311), and secondary school teacher (ANZSCO code 241411) (i) an initial teacher education qualification relevant to the nominated occupation of at least one year full-time study (or part-time equivalent) at the higher education (university) level that includes a minimum of 45 days of supervised teaching practice with students in a school setting, relevant to the nominated occupation.
  8. Wales........... Mixture of drizzle and downpours today. Forecast shows better weather on the horizon, thankfully!
  9. Think we just have to remember that nowhere is perfect, and just try to enjoy where we are at any given time. My problem is that I don't like being cold here in the UK, and I didn't like being cold in Australia when we lived there either. But that's just me!
  10. It's been pouring down here all day so far. Oh well, the plants needed some water, but shame they have to drown in it!
  11. The other clue was that I posted it in 'UK News and Chat' - but then I don't always look at which part of the forum threads are in when I'm in the 'New Posts' list.......
  12. Apologies to parleycross - I've now put my location on the profile sidebar.......
  13. Because I'm complaining about the weather! And maybe from our timeline - but agreed sorry, should put my location on!
  14. There's always a big difference between our Welsh weather and your English weather! It was gorgeous here when we had that spell of hot weather, but it's gone back to cold and wet again now. Don't worry, I know how cold it can get in Australia, as we lived in NSW where we had to rug up quite often!
  15. Summer here in the UK.......... kind of.
  16. Ok - It's mid June - I'm wearing jeans and jumper with lots of layers underneath - still cold - have relented and put the central heating on.
  17. I'm afraid that AITSL are adamant that it's 4 years. You will need PGCE or Australian equivalent. Good luck!
  18. Oh my! So instead of our 190 visa costing us (2 adults 2 children) 3060AUD, it will be costing 6120AUD?!
  19. Pedestrian crossings sound like you're counting down to a race, and you feel as if you have to walk really fast when the green man shows, as the bleeps are so manic!......... Great fun! Found a clip of one on YouTube, so will try to put a link below......
  20. We parked in north NSW once, and drove nose-in. Someone came up and pointed out that you had to reverse in (which the signpost said, to be fair), so we had to re-park. As we walked along the road, we watched three people reverse into parking bays, and crash into the sign posts, which were really close to the kerb.........!!
  21. Great! It took a week for ours to come through the post, and that was with a Bank Holiday in the middle..... You'll hopefully receive yours soon.
  22. Great news! Well done!
  23. Perhaps if you let us know what your occupation is, then people can give you more specific help. Good luck!
  24. We've come home to burst water pipes in the house in the past, and it really does make a mess. I just burst into tears....... We also came home from a holiday in Devon 14 years ago to find that the river at the bottom of the garden had swollen and flooded our kitchen. It was on a lower level than the rest of the house, so thankfully the only place that got flooded, but what a mess! I really feel for you, and thank goodness for insurance..........
