    Gutted!!!

Hi, Where did you read that? Can you send me a link? It doesn't say anything about job offers on the 'WA - How to apply for state nomination' page. This is what it says ; Western Australia offers State nomination for the permanent Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the temporary Nominated (provisional) (subclass 489) visa which allows migrants to live in regional Western Australia. The process for obtaining State nomination is as follows: 1 Submit an eligible expression of interest (EOI) in the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) SkillSelect database. For your EOI to be eligible you must: Score at least 60 for the DIBP points test. This includes the points for State nomination which are automatically included in your EOI: o Five points for the Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190) visa; and o Ten points for the Skilled - Nominated (provisional) (subclass 489) visa. Have evidence of a skills assessment suitable for permanent migration in your nominated occupation. Have a nominated occupation on the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list schedule 1 or 2. Have evidence of at least competent English (International English Language Testing System result of at least six in each band). Be younger than 50 years of age. Have Western Australia selected as the preferred State. Yes, we're teachers - but Primary School Teachers, so we're not on many lists..... only Northern Territory I believe.

    Gutted!!!

Good luck with everything....... It's not really clear what the Schedule 2 means. It says at the top of the page ; A limited number of nominations are also available for applicants with Schedule 2 (offlist) occupations on the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list. .......so that makes it sound as if they are able to nominate a limited number of places........? Who knows?!!
  3. Updated list now out............... http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Occupationsindemand.aspx

    Gutted!!!

Oh, that's awful! I just checked the list this morning, and our occupation is on their 'Schedule 2', which means there are limited places...... Let's hope your occupation comes up on another list when they get renewed - whenever that is! SA don't give many clues as to when they will update.......
  5. This was posted on the WA Migration information page today............... The Department of Training and Workforce Development will release the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) for 2013-2014 on 28 October 2013. http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/LatestNews.aspx
  6. The Western Australia migration news page now says that their new State Sponsorship list will be coming soon - http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/LatestNews.aspx
  7. Hi Chall77, We're not doing anything at the moment...... after that first rush, we've had to put things on hold, but we're keeping our eyes on those State Lists. Knowing our luck, Primary School Teacher will disappear from everyone's lists with all these imminent changes.....! Hope you're ok, and coping with the new term!
  8. Camping's very popular, yes. We stayed at some fab campsites when we were there. Lots of them have amazing facilities - camp kitchens with free bbq, fridge etc.....! And of course, we had mostly fab weather too!!
  9. Ours were 11 weeks for AITSL assessment plus a week for the results to arrive from Oz by post. That was back when AITSL were snowed under with work, and were taking longer than normal to process applications - see signature below for timescale.
  10. Great news! Congratulations!
  11. Regarding financial assets, here's a link to the South Australia relevant page - https://www.migration.sa.gov.au/node/104 Have a look under 11. Financial Capacity
  12. Don't worry - we all learn along the way! That's why this forum is so useful, as people are at different stages. The 'search' facility is good for looking up specifics too, but just check that the post isn't old and out of date........
  13. Yes, that is including the new costs for children and spouse. You have to activate your visa within a certain period of time (depending on when you had Medical / Police Check), and as we wouldn't be ready to up sticks and go, we would have to travel out (all 4 of us) and back, to validate our Visa........
  14. Hi! We are a family of four who are also going for the 190 Visa. The Visa alone will cost us $7040 which at the moment is approx. £4100. We've already done Skills Assessment and IELTS, but then there's the cost of Medicals , Police Checks, and us all flying out on a validation trip if the Visa's granted. If we move, then it will be more thousands of pounds for shipping and flights....... Working hard and saving up at the moment!
  15. Have a look at the CSOL if you haven't already....... http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/csol.pdf TEFL teachers are on that list, not on the SOL - Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages 249311 (skills assessed by VETASSESS) This would mean that you would need to apply for state or employer sponsorship I believe (Visa 190). Good luck!
  16. No, I wouldn't call AITSL - it just annoys them. They will try and complete the assessment within 10 weeks of your confirmation email. It will then take approx. a week to get your certificate (which is when you're told if you were successful or not).
  17. Hi Kooky - I've read quite a few of your posts, but can't remember if you've done your skills assessment with AITSL? We're teachers too (but Primary), and our list is kind of like this :- AITSL IELTS Check State lists to see who's sponsoring Primary Teachers EOI / Apply for State Sponsorship If invited, have Medicals and Police Checks If successful with Visa, travel out to validate Put house on market Move to Australia Stay in temporary accomodation, then try to find rental property Register with State in order to teach Take CV around schools in the hope of getting Relief Teaching........ Hopefully get a teaching job as a result of Relief Teaching...... Nothing's that simple, and it all takes time and money. I'm sure there's things I've left out. If you search the forum, people have given their thoughts on when to book shipping containers etc., but we're no-where near that point yet! I have no pets, so can't give advice on that, sorry. Good luck with it all!
  18. A couple of years ago we drove through Bega, New South Wales, and couldn't believe how green and lush it looked! We likened it to the Swiss Alps! That's the thing with Australia - it's so diverse.
  19. Yes, this forum is brilliant for up-to-date information, so thank you PIO! As we are a family of four, the 190 visa will now cost us $7040 which at the moment is about £4044......... Pity they don't do the £10 Poms any more!
  20. Hi! My husband did the IELTS, and he would agree with the advice on the reading aspect. He has a BA, MSc and PGCE, but still did at least a whole week's online practice, as there was so much pressure on him to get maximum points. He found that he could read too much in to the questions, rather than 'say what you see' !! He did brilliantly, and it was a real relief when the results came through! Good luck!
  21. Llongyfarchiadau a phob lwc! Congratulations and good luck! I'm sure that PIO will be a great help to you over the next few months. Keep going - I'm sure it will all work out for you.
  22. Hi! I'm afraid I can't help you, but hopefully somebody on PIO will be able to answer your question - or have you found the answer by now?!
  23. DVDs are set by region. I believe that you can play UK DVDs in your UK DVD player, but not Australian ones, and vice versa. We foolishly sent a UK DVD box set over to a friend in Oz, but he couldn't play them on his Australian DVD player, or on his laptop either. We won't be doing that again......! I believe that there are multi-region DVD players that can play any type of DVDs?
  24. Yes, it's a great site, and full of information! You should probably start a thread of your own with your query, and you'll probably get more of a response. Good luck with everything!
  25. Found an article from March that mentions the programme at the end, which also says it will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the summer......... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-2301895/Phil-Spencers-best-Australian-family-holiday-Clownfish-coral-Queensland-adventure-family.html
