1. Yes, we still talk about the pedestrian crossings too, two years on........!!
2. I don't know, sorry, but hopefully someone on here can help......
3. Don't worry about it - I had to double-write my Welsh text, as auto correct and predictive text was playing havoc with it!
4. Da iawn am ddysgu Cymraeg! (Well done for learning Welsh!). Definitely honorary Welsh!
5. Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus !
6. No, you won't need to get your skills assessed by AITSL. Good luck with it all!
7. Hi all, Yes, Primary School Teacher 241213 is still on the CSOL, towards the bottom of the list. I think the main problem is the fact that it is on the CSOL means that you need state sponsorship. Only a few states have it on their lists, and all but one (Victoria) need you to have a job offer. Victoria needs you to be able to teach certain languages. Hope this helps!

First steps

If you let us know what your jobs are, people on here will certainly help with advice. Below are the links to the SOL (Skilled Occupation List) and the CSOL (Consolidated Skilled Occupation List)...... http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/sol.pdf http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/csol.pdf
9. I'm afraid that WA have recently put Primary School Teacher on Schedule 2, which means they want you to have "an offer of full-time employment for 12 months in nominated region in nominated or closely related occupation".
10. Yes, part of the contract with the Exchange is that you return to the same school. Exchanges are usually for a year, starting January (beginning of Oz school year). Amazing experience! For us it would have to be a 190 Visa with state sponsorship as Primary School Teacher is on the CSOL not the SOL, which means you need state sponsorship. We have no option really but a 190 visa, as we're getting on a bit!
11. Hi! Are you the main applicant for the Visa? Primary School Teacher 241213 is on the CSOL, so you would need state sponsorship. Also, have you had your skills assessed by AITSL? Good luck with it all!
12. We are still in Wales - did a Teacher Exchange a few years ago in Australia and would love to go back, but it isn't easy! Have you had your skills assessed with AITSL yet? It's a lot of paperwork to gather, and can take a few months for the assessment to come through.
13.

241213 * Primary School Teacher Offshore applicants must provide evidence of having received an offer of employment in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation

Hi! The above exerpt is from the NT link I posted, which is from the 190 Visa NT page....... but maybe I'm misunderstanding something? Let me know if the agents tell you different. We are Primary School teachers, and in the last year have seen WA put Primary School teacher on Schedule 2, meaning you need a job offer, Victoria saying that you need to be able to teach at least one language from their list, and NT saying that you need a job offer....... It's just getting harder and harder! It's because we aren't in demand any more..... Hope it starts getting put back on state lists! Good luck with everything, and let me know if you hear anything positive!
14. I was under the impression that Northern Territory ask for Primary Teachers to ' provide evidence of having received an offer of employment in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation ' in order to get State Sponsorship........ http://www.migration.nt.gov.au/visa/sol.html
15. I watch WDU just to see Australia, as the programme is pretty false. Looking forward to the new series!
16. It's getting harder and harder for Primary School teachers. As they say, as it's on the CSOL not the SOL, she will need State Sponsorship. WA had it on their list until recently, but have now put it as Schedule 2, which basically means you need a job offer (not likely!). Victoria have it on their list, but want you to have 2 years experience of teaching, and be able to teach one of a list of languages (Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Vietnamese). Best of luck with it all!
17. Good luck with everything!
18. Do lots of practice tests ( which you can find online or in IELTS practice books), so that you can get used to the format. It will also help you understand how they score the tests.
19. Great! Here's the link........... http://www.channel4.com/programmes/phil-secret-agent-down-under
20. Don't worry, we've all been there with the IELTS! Hubby's been a teacher for 20 years, has O levels, A levels, Degree, Masters, PGCE, and still had to do the IELTS!
21. What does your husband teach? Will you be working too?
22. The OP started this thread in June 2012, and hasn't posted anything on PIO since then........ May be time to close this thread.......?!

Gutted!!!

Unfortunately, Victoria only want Primary School Teachers who have experience teaching languages (Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Vietnamese) which we don't, so that one's out too. Not sure our daughters could cope with the humidity in Darwin (NT).......... Hope things work out somehow for you.
24. Loads of jobs are now down as Schedule 2. Bad news for lots of us.........

Gutted!!!

Yes, it looks that way, doesn't it? I think WA have worded things in a way that is quite confusing - I'm not the only one asking these questions on the forum!
