  1. Although I believe that if you get the Dutch one now and do not enter the Netherlands again it will not become invalid. You cannot commit a crime if you are not there after all. This aspect has been posted on before. The Indian one will be valid for 12 months from the date on it. Regardless of a counties own validity rules DIAC imposes the 12 months on all criminal checks wherever they are from. An agent will be able to clarify or correct this information if I am wrong.
  2. Have used UKFOREX/OZFOREX with no problems. Do check for charges from your sending and receiving banks though. Also look at Moneycorp, I have not used them but lots of people on here have.

    De-clutter before they come :em3600:
  5. They do re-direct to Oz BUT when we moved they would not send to PO box. We re-directed to my sister in the UK and she sorted stuff to send to us and we made sure she wasn't out of pocket. We then changed address with banks etc when we had one. It was cheaper that way too. Incidentally it isn't always that easy to get a PO box and I'm not sure you can without an Oz address. Some rural properties can only get mail via a PO box and in some towns there is a shortage of PO boxes!
  6. We live just behind the dogs, but now it has been done up he doesn't do the mile any more. And to get in on new year and other "big" nights you need a ticket. Not that I am complaining as it keeps the riff raff out and lessens the mess on the road to our house after! The landlord of the dogs got fed up with the milers as they made a real mess, and he was out of pocket by the time he cleared up. It had gotten a bit mad with people travelling from all over and taking over the town. For the last mile he did after the refurb he put everything outside, bar, bands, toilets,BBQ the lot ............ it rained all day and he lost a shedload of cash. So he doesn't bother now. He opened up in the evening this year after most of the P***heads had long gone, most were out of it by mid afternoon!
  7. Holcombe Old road and the Peel Tower last winter.
  8. Winberries very poor this year but blackberrys looking good! Also the wild garlic was very good earlier in the year. Rammy mile not what it was fewer pubs open now - not a bad thing as it was getting out of hand! The New Irwell Works Brewery in Rammy is the micro brewery and good for cheap ale as the duty is lower. Beer is good. WE also have the second year of Rammyfest in the Autumn ...yes a real outdoor music festival google it! A view from the slopes of Holcombe Hill for you.
  9. Yup! A lovely spot, just back from a long walk through the woods and out on the moors behind my house. We are also within walking distance of brill real ale pubs a micro brewery and lots of cafes and restaurants..................pity it is so damp!
  10. Yes you can- and you can still continue with the skilled visa application evenif you do sponsorship from an employer. Many do this to secure PR if the employer only offers a temp visa.
  11. Whatever you do apply for citizenship before you leave if you don't have it. You never know and many have regretted not doing so.
  12. You can guarantee finding it the day after the new one arrives..................
  13. In Adelaide we bought Nile Perch, in England it is sold as Bassa and I have heard it called other names too. It is a smallish fillet and slightly pinkish in colour but firm to eat and mild flavour. Banana prawns were also good when on offer. Salmon was expensive! We tried a number of other fish and I can't say I hated any of them. The chippy usually had something called butterfish which was nice too along with squid and scallops and salad (never seen those in a chippy at home) Just ask the fishmonger what they are like and buy a small piece to try, start with whatever is on offer!
  14. See told you you need to consult a professional! We amateurs are just that we like to help but often get it wrong, thanks for pointing that out Westly. OP a good MARA agent will be worth every penny in this situation don't delay.
  15. As far as I know you can only get a bridging visa if you lodge a complete application for a new visa before the old one runs out. You need professional advice now as you could face a ban. be prepared to pay a good agent for help.
  16. If you can clean it really well and leave it to dry on a hard surface you should be OK. As long as there is absolutely no soil or vegetation/lichen/mould on it. And of course it comes in bits so takes up less space! People have managed to take wooden garden furniture in this way. You can always sand off and re-seal any dodgy bits. But be prepared for a very fussy AQIS inspector who might charge you to destroy/fumigate it I guess. Why not google it in Oz to see how much a new one would be over there to see if it is worth it.
  17. In the UK we recently got a smart meter reader thingy which shows our usage. It was really interesting to see what actually makes the biggest difference. Leaving TVs and computers, printers on standby makes no real difference. Our big Samsung TV cannot be switched off at the set only via the mains so we never do, but it designed to use virtually zero on standby and the meter didn't change when I unplugged it to see. Our big american style F/F uses less than the 8 downlights in the kitchen. Seriously I nag about lights more than ever now! I used to bother about leaving computer/printer on stand by but now don't as it makes no real difference. Biggest users are incandescent light bulbs (we have a lot as I like dimmer switches!) low energy ones don't trouble it. Kettle, but only in short bursts. Washer and Dryer (and both are A+ rated). And our oven. We don't have aircon (this is Lancashire!). Our house in Oz is rented but when we built it we had D, Glazing and extra insulation. All the tenants have commented on economical the heating/cooling is. This seems to be the biggest issue in most homes as the cooling/heating has to work really hard in big open spaces.
  18. You can rent anything you might need, we rented a "house Pack" until our container arrived as we were in unfurnished rental. Everything from tea spoons to TVs no problem.
  19. Hi info here on WA as I believe that is where you are headed. There is some specific info on India as you need a verification from the govt. You will have to take a test to get your Oz license but you can hire a car and drive on an Indian license with verification and international permit. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20669.asp#20952 I would guess that as the visa is provisional as opposed to temporary (like a WHV or a 457 or visitor visa) the 3 month rule will apply. You could always e-mail them and ask though.
  20. I'm not certain but I think the points are fixed when you apply. At least they used to be so you did not lose points if you got older whilst processing but didn't gain them either for experience as they calculated from the info provided on application. Now with the EOI not sure if it is when you lodge that, then looked at again when you apply or what. Maybe a good read of the info would help but I can't be bothered as I am not applying myself.
  21. I though t the requirement for 157 was 6 months for de facto, whereas the PR visa requires 12 months, maybe that's the reason.
  22. The shipper can give you the container code and the shipping line and you can track it on-line like a parcel. Although having said that ours became incomunicado somewhere in the Indian Ocean and we couldn't track it again but it arrived safely in the end!
  23. Looking at the sticky about overclaiming points in the EOI I would be cautious. I would err on meeting all the criteria when you submit the EOI rather than hoping you will meet them when an invite comes.
  24. Speak to your employers first. They may well have an agent they use for applications. They should have been aware of the expiry date and either extended the 457 or applied for the PR visa before expiry. You should not be working without a visa.
  25. If you look at the 12 month thing it excludes things such as clothing and basic personal items otherwise it would just be silly:biggrin:
