  3. Vetassess keep their cards close to their chests, so nobody knows. You just need to keep checking the dates on the website: https://www.vetassess.com.au/skills-assessment-for-migration/trade-occupations/assessment-dates In the past, there have been tests from February onwards, but there's no guarantee this will be the case next year.

  6. Yes, that's correct. At the visa stage, immigration will deduct the first three years of referenced experience and count this as an informal training period, *unless* the applicant has a relevant qualification at the required (AQF 3) level. If the applicant does have a relevant NVQ 3, Advanced City & Guilds etc, then immigration will award points for all referenced experience from the date of the qualification as long as that experience is within the last 10 years.
  7. Yes, but not just any education. It has to result in a certificate equivalent to an AQF 3 in the occupation being applied for. So an NVQ 3, Advanced City & Guilds in Carpentry etc. Level 2 qualifications and below will not be counted. If the applicant does not have an appropriate qualification, then immigration will deduct the first three years of an applicant's referenced work experience to make up for it, but you won't get points for it.

  9. Check with your agent and ask them how they have calculated the employment points and where the points come from. It could be this has already been factored in.
  10. Yes, the 12 week requirement is a pain. As others have said, you can hold off just now and try to time it for approximately when your visa is granted or likely to be granted, but there are no guarantees with this. Or you can apply sooner if you are prepared for the possibility of a flight to Australia to activate it. This could be incorporated into a holiday and fact finding mission.
  11. The visa will be issued in the name of the passport holder. What does your birth certificate say? Is your passport incorrect? Unless you can clearly identify what your legal name actually is, then certainly a case officer may investigate this.
  12. Progression in the role is accepted and indeed expected, but if your current role is no longer 'hands-on' so to speak then there is every possibility that it won't be counted for points. Regards, Richard

  14. The evidence requirements for Vetassess Trades and Vetassess General occupations are completely different. For trades, immigration will tend to date your skilled employment from the date of the award of your relevant qualification, and will then count all referenced employment from that point onwards for points. If the qualification is not at the required level, then immigration will instead take off the first three years of your employment to count as an informal 'apprenticeship period' and then count points from there. If you have undergone at least 4 years of university education in one of the AITSL approved countries, then you don't need IELTS for skills, but you may need it for the visa application as you'll want the points, as well as to meet state requirements. In this case, it's the General IELTS test you would need. Regards, Richard
  17. I can't comment without more information, but I doubt immigration visit employers personally. They can of course contact them directly via phone and email so be sure to include all details in the reference statements.
  18. Absolutely. So while ACS stipulate a certain amount of employment experience and a relevant qualification to get through the skills assessment, visa points are only awarded from the date both of these requirements are met. Regards, Richard
  19. DIBP generally go with the assessing authorities advice, but they will, of course, require all the employment evidence you supplied to Vetassess. However, advice is just that: advisory.   22. Which country are you a citizen of? Assuming it's a country assessed by TRA (for some countries including UK, the assessing authority for mechanics is Vetassess), then you have to remember that the average processing time for TRA is 90 days. Saying that, you should have received some form of acknowledgement email from them, so if you haven't then you might want to check your spam or follow up with TRA. Regards, Richard
  23. Points for work experience (i.e. skilled employment at the required level) are only counted by ACS after BOTH qualification AND work experience requirements are met. So your pre-qualification work experience won't be counted. Regards, Richard
