  1. Correction: From PBS site, DPMQ for Mezavant is $395 per 120 tablets, which comes to $3.29 i.e. $4500/year on Mezavant.
  2. Hi Daman, In Australia, the cost for each tablet comes to $6.5(from PBS site, though I have bought it at 3.5 at Priceline chemist) . meaning $9000+ per year just for Mezavant. Biological drug infliximab will cost $500+ per vial which is another $3500. The total cost of medication alone is $12500, other costs include specialist visits and yearly colonoscopy which would push it close to $20000. As per DIAC site, $8000 is the max limit, so, unfortunately, it will be very hard to get PR. It is, unfortunately, a very biased system, it doesn't take into account the work potential of the person. My wife and I pay close to $40,000 in tax(on 457 Visa), yet I am in this predicament whether to apply for 189 Visa or not, despite having an EOI. I am on 2 tabs of Mezavant and 3 tabs of Imuran per day.
  3. Hi All, I am currently in Australia on 457 Visa and have been living here for more than a year. I am planning to apply for 189 visa and can claim 70 points. However, I am suffering from mild Ulcerative colitis since 8 years. I am on regular medication i.e. Mezavant(Mesacol OD) and Imuran. Last year I incurred approximately $5k-6k on Doctor consultation, Colonoscopy(This is required once in 5 years) and medicines(private insurance reimbursed most of the cost incurred), so over a 5 year period, the cost will be less than $ 40k. I have never had any surgery, and have been in remission for nearly 3 years. Has any one with IBD or any chronic disease on long-term medicine got their 189 visas's granted?
  4. Hi All, I currently work in Sydney with 457 Visa and thinking of applying for 189 visa. I have 9 Years of IT/Software experience(out of which 1 year is in Australia) but my Bachelor’s degree is in Mechanical Engineering. I have done Weekend Master’s Degree in Computer Science(2011-2013) @200 Hrs classes/Semester. Will my Master’s degree be considered for points calculation ? How many years experience will be deducted in my case(would it still be six?), given that my Bachelor's degree is different from my Master's and field of experience.
