  1. Considering the OP has stated they are not fussed about living in a city, you are both arguing over nothing and somewhat off track (especially as this ISNT ctf). So no more please although feel free to start a thread discussing cities in CTF should you wish. Cal x
  2. I think you maybe talking about the Regional visa's here, if so take a look at the post code list https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list/regional-postcodes A lot of these areas are not rural, there are some popular suburbs on the Sunny Coast and Gold Coast in QLD and many in between on the list. A lot of people think if they go to a Regional area they will be miles from anywhere and thats so far off the mark. Property prices do tend to be a tad less than the city so it can be a win ,win situation. The list covers all States, so you can see for yourself areas listed in a State you think you may like. Cal x

I dont think any international air lines fly from UK to Maroochy, unless they stop at Brisbane first. I'd personally just drive the hour from Maroochy to pick up the dog at Brisbane myself. Pets Abroad UK, i am pretty sure is more commonly known as Dogtainers, you may find more feedback / reviews googling Dogatiners. Cal x
  4. You should be able to get a Skilled Visa with Plant engineer as the occupation. Personally i would have a quick chat /consultation with an agent, as many trades can be crossed referenced and they will let you know which visa they think is most suitable for you with the qualification's you have. 5. I've removed a few posts as yet again another thread is now discussing Perth. Discuss Tas as per the topic or don't post. Cal x
  6. Gold Coast is too touristy and busy and you are correct that since Covid and lots of interstate moves Sunny Coast is going similar in some areas. If you look Hinterland side up from roughly Beerwah, Landsborough, up towards Cooroy there is some nice homes in the $600 range, not renno ones either, catch 22 is your then further from big amenities. If you don't mind ''estate living'' on smaller plots there is a few new land releases and packages too for brand new homes a bit closer to the coast. Cal x
  7. I had been in Brissy 14 yrs and accompanied hubby on a work trip to Tas (Hobart) a few years ago. We went in April and it was pretty cold.. Beautiful place and somewhere we will definately visit again and it did remind me a lot of the UK but just not enough sun and heat for me. Have you looked inland a little from Sunny coast and Gold Coast? depending how far from the beach you want to be $600k will still get you a relatively decent house in many areas, its cooler than Cairns but warmer than Tassie that's for sure. 8. I think maybe you were just lucky and customs didn't pick up on it if you hadn't done your Aus citizenship, if you were a citizen then it wouldn't be a problem anyway. My friend and her family didn't know about the 5 yr limit and they went overseas non the wiser, on their return Customs pulled them in. Thankfully they explained they didnt realise about the RRV, showed their Aussie driving licences, gave their address here, employer name, kids school etc and they were allowed in no problem but told if they left again before gaining citizenship they needed a Resident Return Visa. 9. You don't have to have an ATAR or do the Gap Year at a few Uni's here now IF you had half decent grades in High school, so could be worth the OP checking in with a few UK Uni's to see what the outcome would be IF she did go back to live and study as they too may have changed their rules. Are you sure about her paying International Rates in the UK? If she has only been out of the UK a couple of years and goes back to live and study? I thought you had to be out of the country quite a few years before paying International fee's ? Cal x
  10. The company i linked too offer A levels too, not just GCSE' s. Personally i would consider this route if i know 110% i would be back in the UK within a year or two with no intention of ever coming back to Aus. If there was a chance id be staying in Aus i would do Yr 11 and 12 at a high school and Uni/ Tafe if req from there but that's just my opinion. Cal x
  11. I think she would be better to attend Yr 11 and 12 here and do the Aus exams. Yes its another 2 years of school but every employer pretty much asks if they have completed YR12, a lot of Uni's require you do to a gap year with them if you didn't achieve an ATAR in Yr 12, before you can do any Uni courses. Another reason to do YR 11 and 12 would be so your child can make some friends too. If your child really doesnt want to do school here i think your first port of call would be the British Council and ask them how to go about sitting the GCSE exam here as they would be able to do it - https://www.britishcouncil.org.au/exam/igcse-school Cal x
  12. We are south of Brisbane but like you only have electric and have solar panels too. The Solar works great and our electric bills across the year are just a tad higher than yours and would be around $1200 - $1400, so not bad at all saying that i have 4 decent sized fish tanks running and hubby always leaves lights and radio on in his workshop, lol Cal x
  13. I agree with Ramot, Brisbane and Gold Coast go hand in hand. For a younger couple i think the Gold Coast would tick most of their boxes. You can be ''in the hustle and bustle'' as much as you want, there are so many living options. The rental issue seems to be affecting a lot of people at the minute across QLD, so definately try and befriend/ touch base with an agent prior to your arrival. Cal x
  14. Anyone who goes back through your posts or has the pleasure of reading them and reads about your obsession with drugs (regardless of topic) will know exactly why i am laughing. Cal x
  15. Definitely don't abort the mission, personally i would give a Migration agent a call and pay them for a phone consultation to point you in the right direction. Cal x
  16. It is Bob and further posts off topic will be removed, this isnt CTF and its been mentioned enough on threads in there to be discussed further, should anyone wish.
  17. 16 years for us and no regrets yet. We were lucky enough to come out on a PR visa straight away though. Cal x
  18. Hi Vama I have removed your personal contact details, to be honest its not Quoll you want to be messaging you anyway, she isn't an agent and that is who should seek further advice from. Good Luck with everything Cal x
  19. If you end up not doing this, what we did a few years ago worked well for us. We flew direct to Manchester got a hire car and had just over a week with family, friends etc and travelled around to a few places we wanted to show the kids (Wales, Blackpool etc etc), we then drove to London stopping off en route at the Zoo etc , explored London for 3 or 4 days taking the kids to Buckingham Palace and some other sites. We handed the hire car back at Gatwick and flew to the Canary Isles for a week, from there we returned to Gatwick for a night then flew to Amsterdam were we had another few days exploring with the kids. From Amsterdam we went to Dubai then back to QLD. It worked for us having a little base in each place so we werent carting 4 or 5 cases/ bags around, we could also go where we wanted or spend longer in one attraction if it interested us more (or should i say the kids! haha) Cal x
  20. Hi Matt, it may help if you list an area. Thanks Cal x
  21. Have a look at sites like Indeed.com or seek.com to see what jobs are advertised, it will at least give you an idea of which State seems to have more job opportunities. Cal x
  22. You have the best of both worlds then so thats great, go and enjoy. Cal x
  23. Did you get your citizenship? I would imagine having that will take a lot of pressure off you all. Lots of luck with everything and enjoy travelling Aus Cal x
  24. Totally agree with this. Have you been asked to leave? If not , it is quite common for rental houses to sell, the buyers cannot kick you out if you have a contract and they will know this before they buy. I would be asking if they are looking to move in at the end of your lease though and if so then i would look around for something else and keep an eye on the market a good few months before the lease expires , if not sooner. Cal x
  25. Not sure what you mean by ''makes anyone feel better' but it sure as hell made us feel better when we opened ours wayyyy prior to our move and could send funds when exchange rates went up ,lol, and leave it if rates dropped . All in ,doing that secured us an extra few thousand $$$$ for when we arrived which certainly came in useful. Cal x
