Any Teachers Applying Now?

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I am teaching here in WA on my partners' sponsored visa (We couldn't wait for all of the 189 paperwork to move over)

I have submitted my EOI on 26/06, and have not received an invite in either of the July rounds. I am Maths Teacher, and had the bare 60 required points (as I'm a fairly recent grad so no paid experience from back home in Ireland)

Those of you who are submitting, how long were you waiting for your invites??

Also for those needing a Proficient English result with IELTS - Prepare!! Writing is marked very strangely!

ANZCO: 21411

IELTS: 09/06/2017 (Proficient - R:8.5,S:9,L:9,W:8.5)

EOI: 26/06/2017 (60 points)

Invite: ?

So glad to find a teachers post - how long did you guys wait for an invite ? We submitted EOI beginning July and haven't heard anything - getting worried !

Sure you will hear soon! There are only two a month so depending on when you submitted maybe you missed it for July? We got an invite the round following submitting the EOI (back in May). How many points do you have? We had 75 so not sure if that made a difference. Good luck and keep us posted!

65 points. Messed up my reading part of the English test, rushed it! :-(((

Do you know when the round invites happen ?

You can definitely find out on the skillselect website but I think it's around 10th/12th of the month and then again around the 23rd roughly

Hi guys - I have just been looking at skillselect in detail but can't see rounds dates but at least one has happened since we applied but then I read about automatic invites and Kev147 mentioned he got an invite the same day which I'm sure by chance couldn't have been the day of rounds?? Otherwise what luck to get it in the same day? So is it automatic and also rounds of invitations?

The next one will be 12th August. I'm not sure about automatic invites, but I know they have a cap on how many invites they send out each time and you're in a pool so against those with higher points than you. Fingers crossed for the 12th for you ?

Hi,  I'm a primary school teacher and,  like Beaty, have applied for a 190 to VIC. Lodged application on 1st February and still waiting for visa grant[emoji45]. As far as I know,  primary school teacher is only on the Victorian state nomination list. I think it also appears on the subsidiary list for South Australia but that's not as straight forward to get.  I say 'straight forward' but none of the process is actually straight forward no matter where you go! Hi there Yikes

I'm just wondering if you can help...I'm also a primary school teacher but didn't think I could apply to Victoria State as I don't have a specific language skill, which is stated as a necessary requirement.
Do you know if this is the case? Do you have specialist language skill? I am currently looking at SA as I didn't think Victoria was an option.
Many thanks

Yes, you need one of the nominated languages http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/visas-and-immigrating/visa-nomination-occupation-lists/visa-nomination-occupation-list-for-victoria#.WY1HvNHTWf0

Even if you got a visa without one of those languages your chances of getting a job in a place that people actually want to live are extraordinarily remote. Australia is well oversupplied with teachers so I'm surprised that it's still on any state list tbh.
