MAX007
I lodged it after the company got shut down. I was with the same company for over 5 years, then went on 457 and happened to stay on that visa for 15 months. Now, I have lodged the ENS under Direct Entry with the new employer having my newborn son and wife as the secondary applicants. .....?? .... bonza2211
Hi, I just booked the medical online with Medibank. Didn't even have a TRN, just paid and turned up with the relevant forms conpleted. They sent me the results in a sealed envelope and I scanned that and sent it to the MA. How long ago did you do the medicals? Thanks. I'm being told by Medibank this is the "new" requirement... i.e. Get a letter etc.. I should ask Raul! Aussieange
Hi Guys, finally the wait is over. My PR has been granted today. Got a call in the afternoon from my MA (who's been just awesome throughout the process). Good luck to all who are waiting. Nomination filed - 31/05/2013 Visa filed - 03/06/2013 DRC application though MA Direct Entry Stream-Marketing Specialist Visa Granted - 04/09/2013. Ah, another fellow marketeer - congrats hopingfordbest! I'm going Direct Entry Stream-Marketing Specialist...although I'm going cold turkey without the MA. My employer is in the processing of providing further documentation to the CO, and as they put their application in on 19/06/2013, I really should submit my Visa application soon. I'm stalling on the skills assessment though, I'm imagining a 6 hour sit down exam and failing it! Was it a nightmare?
loubylou475
Hi people, long long time since I posted but I was curious to read about similar situations. We've been in Australia on a 457 since June 2010, changed employer in April 2013. New employer submitted their nomination end of June 2013, Direct Entry, non DRC. Medicals done and UK-passports renewed (which I thought would complicate or delay the process) in July 2013, agent expected may take 6 months for approval....less than 6 weeks later 186 granted 4/9/13, no questions. Expensive time but relieved to have Permanent Residency at last. I really think it depends on the case officer and how thorough they chose to be. Good luck everyone. Andy Moncrieff
Hi all, Looking for some advice. Been on 457 since Jan 2010. ENS Transition Nomination submitted on 28 Jun, not going through MA doing it in house. Status online says 'in-progress'. Had no communication from DIAC at any stage. Should/Can I get my visa application submitted. How long should the nomination take? Any advice would be appreciated.

Paul2412
I'm currently on a 457 Visa, and would be interested in making the transition to PR. I've been working for the company for a year, and am in the IT industry. I've got 8 years experience in the field (including over 1 year in Australia) but don't have a degree. I do have a Microsoft certification which the ACS state as being equivalent to a diploma however it was way back in 2007 so I'm now studying for the updated certificate. Can anyone advise on what the process for me now is? I assume I have to first get the updated certificate, then ask my employer to nominate me. I would then go for the medical and lodge a skills assessment with the ACS. Once those have cleared, is the next process to actually lodge the application? Also, I'll be offering to my employer to pay for the Visa. I've seen on the SkillSelect website that it's around $3,000. Is there any other "hidden" fees to look out for? Thanks! Isabelt28
Hi, can't really help with the process as I've done the temp transition stream which us when you've worked for 2 years on 457. However, I can help with fees. You have to pay extra for any partner or children. The medical will cost about $350 and the police checks $200 or so. Good luck. I lodged the application only a week ago and I'm sick of waiting already...

Hi - I would submit the Visa application asap - I put my nominaton in, in June - left it for 2 months - spoke to someone at DIAC who said their is no fixed processing time for a nomination but as soon as its linked to a valid application they then have 6 months or whatever to process it. I went for direct entry ENS 186 - submitted all the relevant info with my application (didn't use an MA for the nomination or application) and 19 days after I submitted by application (early August) my residency was approved both nomination and application together. Main costs involved are skills assessment, IELTS (if your not excempt), medical checks ($330 when I did it in March), nomination charges ($540), application charges ($3060) (though these may of gone up recently), police background checks for each country you've lived in for 12 months or more in the past 10 years including Australia, can't think of much else but look at the checklists on DIAC's website.
