  1. Yep, a UK document to return to the uk
  2. Hi all, Has anyone recently obtained an emergency UK travel document from Australia? How did you go about it? thanks
  3. I live in Melbourne. My husband and I have a joint salary of $250k per year and can do most things you identify. This should be where you're aiming if you're after a nice house in a good suburb, 2 decent cars, 2 holidays and entertainment (restaurants & shopping)
  4. We moved from 457 to PR in December. It's a smooth, although stressful process, purely because you're reliant upon a 3rd party, ie. your employer. Less stressful for you though I would have thought, because your skills are on the SOL, ours weren't and no states were sponsoring so it was our only option. have you checked with your employer? As long as they are willing/able I would stick with them, then you can have the independent visa as a back up?
  5. I thought holding a British passport satisfied the criteria for competent English?
  6. I agree. Is it possible to engage another MA to have a look at your case etc.. Maybe one who's rrecommended on here, and if they think there's something they could do to help, you could engage them & advise DIBP?
  7. Chris, just out of interest, why did you even consider an agent if you genuinely believe is dead easy??
  8. There was a story on here just the other day of a guy who had the wrong certificate from a skills assessment & that led to a visa refusal. It sounded like a tiny issue, but it's cost him thousands.... Wouldn't have happened with an agent & if it did, you'd have been covered. Go with an agent I say, just pick a good one.
  9. Hi all, wondering if anyone has a contact number for the UK passport office from Oz? All I can find is an 0300 number which I can't seem to call? I sent in my passport application with current passport & marriage certificate, 2 weeks ago and want to make sure it got there ok? I emailed them 5 days ago.... No response! If anyone has a number, that would be great, thank you
  10. Hi there. Can't say for Perth I'm afraid, as I'm in Melbourne. I think 457 holders in Perth have to pay for education for their children, so you need to factor in that cost. We came over on a 457 & were able to obtain 186 after 2 years. Will the company pay for your relocation costs as that can be quite expensive? Also, just something to be prepared for, 457 to 186 isn't guaranteed. It's worked for us and many others, which is great now. But I'm a control freak and there were a number of times we came close to losing our jobs, which would have meant going home. That caused me so much stress and worry. If you're a more relaxed person and just wants to give it a try with no dramas if you go home, then it's probably fine. Your kids are at an age where if they have 2 years out of school and go back and start again, it won't impact on them massively. We had a 15 year old with us, who settled really well, so the pressure that we may have to return home and uproot his life, weighed heavily on me. I guess how the 457 works out depends on some luck and your outlook on life. I'm a fellow Yorkshire pudding, so happy to help more if I can.
  11. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/209426-south-australia-add-18-occupations-their-sponsored-list.html yes, SA is South Australia
  12. It also serves as the customs form, where you declare what you've got/where you've been
  13. Yes, everyone fills in a landing card, there is a specific box to tick if you're a citizen
  14. SA have just included Customer Service Msnager on their skills list...there's another thread on here with a useful link. Maybe look in more detail at that. Best of luck
  15. yes definitely wait so that they don't go out of date, particularly given the processing time. As long as its just the AFP & UK police, they usually do it within 2 weeks or so
  16. you will need checks for any country where you have spent more than 12 months in the past 10 years. And if your UK Police Check is over 12 months old when requested you will need another of those too
  17. Just wondered because in another forum the OP says agents were a waste of money.... Perhaps not after all!
  18. 2 medicals & police checks? Was there a particular reason? And was there a reason why there was lots of stress, or just the usual visa application pressure!?
  19. If you specify which occupation and visa subclass on here someone will most likely be along to give the correct answer
  20. It depends which visa you're applying for. I had a 457 then a 186 and never did an IELTS as a holder of a UK passport with a university degree
  21. Can I make a suggestion that you consider applying sooner rather than later? Whilst you meet the criteria for skilled migration now, it is possible that the SOL will be reviewed and teachers will be removed. It is my understanding that it is really hard to find work as a teacher in some areas and subjects, which could lead to the SOL being updated.
  22. I guess that adds more weight to Alan's point about getting the timing of a defacto application right.... So he's not in breach of his visa
  23. Would the dept see this as being 'accompanied' if the mum is an Australian and with the child, who would be an Aussie citizen?
  24. Really? Why? Not being facetious just don't understand?
