  1. I got a car loan within a month of arriving in Aus back in 2018. But because I didn’t have any credit ratings and still in probation, only Macquarie bank gave me a car loan at 10.89%. Now the rates are much better, though since covid they might be a bit more strict.
  2. the web says 5-20 months for 75% and 90% respectively, clearly showing that recent applications have been processed rather much quicker than ones that has been in the queue for a long time. you should try your luck and if lucky you can be that 75% that got their visas done in 5 months time.
  3. You can, but you still have to demonstrate your ties to australia. Depending on the evidence you provide, they can either give you a 1 year rrv or decline.
  4. If you are not treated fairly at work, contact the fair work commission https://www.fwc.gov.au/ they will be able to help you sort it out. If you are found to be treated unfairly, this will be in your favour even if your employer complains to dha.
  5. Above answer gives you all the general info you need. 1. it will remain for 5 years, after that the travel condition will expire and you will need to apply for rrv. 2. No. But you will need to demonstrate your ties to aus later to get your rrv. 3. It can happen if they complain but as mentioned above, only sometimes. 4. You can work for any company as long as your visa doesn’t expire or you are able to get rrv. If it expires you will need to apply for another visa that gives you the work rights. 5. Your visa will expire. 6. You need ties to aus, such as having a job, house, etc. then you will be able to apply for rrv.
  6. It will depend how serious the officer will see that as an offence at the time of the decision. Unfortunately immigration is getting tough on character requirements, even kicking people out for their crimes done over 10 years ago. I just hope they view it as a light offence...
  7. Yep they will revisit in about that time and make a decision usually. If all the docs are ready hope your MA can submit as part of your nomination as well. Usually the decision will be made based on what they got at the time.
  8. I guess it comes down to whether you can show an evidence that you have been a full time student for 5 years (not 4.5 years, not 4 years And 11 months, but 5 full years). If your transcript shows those interruptions and takes a few months out, then they probably make a fuss out of it.
  9. From the date it was granted.
  10. You should double check your writing, if you write like that to an immigration officer they probably won’t believe you.
  11. Be patient my friend, it is on its way!
  12. I believe only sometimes they look in between the due date they give you. Normally, they will look after the stated due date (based on experience of many members here).
  13. yes, as long as they don't change the rules.
  14. You will be paying tax as a resident. If you were paying tax as a non-resident, then it will change. But you should note that if you were on a work visa, you probably would have been paying tax as a resident (the term "resident" is different for tax purpose and visa). seems PR can also get allowance (but doublecheck it yourself): https://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/youth-allowance-students-and-australian-apprentices/who-can-get-it You need to have lived in Aus legally for 4 years, with the last 1 year being a PR. If you were in Aus for 3 or more years before you got PR, then you can apply a year later. Use their calculators online.
  15. As stated above, the waiting time is very random. However, the trend seems to be that new applications nowadays gets picked up quickly. You should prepare your medical I assume you will be asked soon. They are still valid for 12 months so probably worth getting it ready. Good luck!
  16. Saw a news the other day saying they are auto-deporting people with recorded sentences 12 months or more. Guess they are slowly hitting up the notch.
  17. Often after submitting the required docs, they look at them within 4 weeks. However, there are cases they do take longer. Why? No one knows... Just have to hang in there!
  18. I read many people in the same shoes, family members applying together but getting approved in different times. They just ended up waiting for the last member to receive theirs and attended their ceremony.
  19. They have been processing new applications a lot recently and this is exactly it: to lower the average time taken shown on their site. it looks good on the CV of whoever is in charge: “I managed to speed up the processing time by X%”, which in fact is just playing with numbers.
  20. I found a list of grounds that visas can get cancelled: http://www.australianmigrationnetwork.com.au/visa-cancellations-possible-cancel-permanent-visa/ I think only relevant one is 140, and it says of if the primary one gets cancelled, they could pursue to cancel the dependent ones. Hope it doesn’t happen.
  21. Any problems from your side (health, character, skills etc) can be a reason for a refusal. If police check and medical went fine then only grounds would be your eligibility. I think you should be fine, but you’ll just have to wait and see what they say!
  22. As pointed out by others above, the waiting period is anyone’s guess. At least it is now showing up on the immi account
  23. I agree with everyone above that the calculator is broken. The residence requirement from the gov site (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/become-a-citizen/permanent-resident#Eligibility) : living in Australia on a valid visa for the past 4 years a permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen for the past 12 months away from Australia for no more than 12 months in total in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days in total in the past 12 months It will be the last criteria that you fail as you were away for more than 12 months between July 11, 2015 - July 25, 2016. Your clock reset when you came back on July 26 2016.
  24. If it says “granted” then it is all done. You can double check the status of your visa online, search VEVO to check that.
  25. I assume you are applying as an academic? I sent my PhD degree and my previous employment contracts (I also sent my termination notice from my previous employment to prove the duration of work). I didn’t send my CV or publication list. I also didn’t have to send any other degrees other than PhD. The timeline for me was reasonably quick, around 3 months.
