  1. 1. PR visa holders don’t need to have a private insurance so you can cancel it. However, they may cover some essential items that medicare may not cover. You should check out what medicare covers and then decide. 2. Depends on the state you are in. Check the website https://www.australia.gov.au/content/driving-with-an-overseas-licence 3. You just have to re-enrol at medicare centre to change to the green one.
  2. Just update your signature with the new application timeline, someone will update your new one as withdrawn/refused in the spreadsheets.

    Health Check

Have you tried to call the medical centre to check? By the length of your wait, they will likely say that they found no further concerns so that’s why they didn’t bother getting back to you. But yeah, just ring them up and check, quick and easy
  4. Even if it doesn't contribute any points, you should inform your CO as outlined in the guidelines that any information wrongly given to immigration can be a reason for your visa being rejected.
  5. I think its really out of the hands of us migrants, so I think it's better that you pay less attention to them! Just fingers crossed your application gets processed soon enough.
  6. Go to this link and find out for yourself https://www.ato.gov.au/Calculators-and-tools/Host/?anchor=AreYouAResident&anchor=AreYouAResident&anchor=AreYouAResident/questions#AreYouAResident/questions
  7. Why think about other women when he already found one he wants to marry? @JigneshAsk many agents on this site are now saying you should be careful how you use the visitor visa as a stepping stone, because the purpose is to tour the country, not to live permanently. So this reason can be used to refuse entry (e.g. your partner don’t have return ticket, good travel plans etc). Talk to one they can give you some advice!
  8. Based on my experience and what others have gone through, they open your case again shortly after the due date no matter how quick you submit requested docs. It has been around 4-6 weeks from the request date, but of course there is always a chance that could take a bit longer. But mostly within that timeframe, so nearly there!
  9. Hopefully soon, if you look at the spreadsheet, uni lecturers are one of the few jobs that have a very quick result. Hang in there!
  10. It really depends on your lifestyle and existing debt you have. your income should be plenty for most couples, but if you fancy a nice place to rent and eat out each week, then your savings will be less indeed. Also leave some for entertainment, like movies, hanging out with friends, buying clothes etc. never dig into savings to live, it should be increasing over time.
  11. This is my experience with form 80. I filled one when applying for my partner visa. I also travelled quite a lot for my work, but I did my best to note down all the trips I made. However, the dates I just guessed approx time and duration, as digging those details were (as you already know) challenging. At the end of the day, nothing else was requested further. I think just like others mentioned above, it could be for requesting some police checks for countries you may have been for certain number of days.
  12. The request was made on 21 March, and I supplied all the docs on 28 March. If they checked after the 4 weeks period they give you, then it took them around 2 weeks to get the checks done
  13. Good news, they are getting it done indeed as mine was granted today. Hope you get yours soon too
  14. If your employer uses the same agent, then the agent handles both nomination and application. So the agent knows everything. If you don’t use an agent, then you handle your application, and employer handle the nomination. At the end of the day, they are two separate applications, but immi will see them and link them both when making decisions
  15. Congratulations, be worry free and enjoy your life!
  16. I think yours will be done soon. Many people on this forum got it done in ~4 weeks or so from nomination approval, also many who received that email. but then again, there is no 100% guaranteed timeline. I think you will get it soon though!
  17. Tight time frame to work with! You should check how you can get the police check from overseas and the time it takes. I would try to call them and also send an email. If all fails, you should be able to upload additional documents through immi, which could explain that you have only visited Australia very short times. Also, if you can find, your travel dates. They should be able to check that internally. but yeah, getting in contact to verify this would be the best.
  18. I believe “second applicant fee”, typically for English for your partner which is roughly $4900.
  19. For the nz partner one, the turnaround was quick, like within a couple of weeks. For PR now I have waited 3 weeks since I submit the forms, but I have a feeling the CO hasn’t looked at it yet (yesterday was due date). I think it’s gonna be another week or two to get it done if CO opens my file again, but who know when.
  20. This is not too bad I guess (just a month increase). Last year I was getting the NZ citizen partner visa which was 15 months waiting time, I recently checked it again and they went up to 24 months
  21. I saw on other threads that many have been finalised in 4-5 weeks, some even a few days. However, the waiting time still everyone’s guess. But good to keep those stats in mind
  22. From https://movemigration.com.au/benefits-australian-permanent-residency/ —————————— Social assistance Living in Australia entitles you to access the very generous Medicare program, which covers most basic health needs, including free treatment at public hospitals and most medications at a subsidised level, and Centrelink social security payments (subject to a two-year waiting period) which assist students, unemployed or lower income residents, those with disabilities and those in lesser financial circumstances. Your children will be able to attend free public primary and high schools, and will also be entitled to tertiary education for the same price as Australian citizens. Further, one of the benefits of a PR visa is the entitlement to various education and study loans. Once you become a citizen, you can also access the Higher Education Loans Program (HELP), which makes up-front payment of university fees and does not require repayments until the recipient earns over a threshold level. ——————————— I don’t know your situation, but you probably have decent income that won’t entitle you for social security payments (otherwise you would have failed income criteria and not got your pr). Your child’s education will be free once she starts school. And I believe you already know about medicare. it is worth noting, getting social security payments (after 2 year wait period) isn’t worth it and won’t be sufficient to support your family. It is really for people in critical circumstances.
  23. Sure no worries. Yes I am not worried, pretty happy with the progress of my application (lucky me!) I do feel for those of you who are waiting such an unnecessary time to a visa done. This is one way to lose skilled people trying to come to Australia!
