  1. This is what we are afraid of, missing the initial entry date because flights are being cancelled at last minute, according to some posters on here. I also have recently contacted Emirates and they said they can cancel flights at the last minute, so check 3 days before flight if not heard anything. Surely this would be a problem for employers to actually allow changes of dates for an employee to have time off? As i have already mentioned on previous posts, my other half doesn't get to choose his holiday dates in his job, they are given to him, so if he was to book a flight to validate and it was cancelled at last minute, he wouldnt be able to change his holiday period, so we are extremely worried about him getting over to Oz, the time off he has been allocated is in December, so he is very restricted. Feels like nothing is going our way atm!!!
  2. That's great, thank you AliQ.
  3. Oh that's so good to hear!! I was always under the impression that it was firm that the advertised price was what you pay, not negotiable. Do the agents generally advisewhat price to negotiate or leave it up to the buyer? Not knowing the system in Oz i would want a push in the right direction and not end up offending a seller!! What sort of fees would be paid and how long do purchases usually take (WA)? X
  4. Just a quick question, Is it quite common to negotiate house prices when buying in Australia? We have rented before but never purchased, so just wanted a heads up for future reference. Thank you. Xx
  5. Would be great to see if anyone can post on here about flights from London to Perth, airline, experiences etc.... Seems to be more posts about flights to other states, so are flights to Perth very limited?? Thanks so much
  6. Was just curious as when looking at booking flights with Emirates, it shows the itinerary with A380 from London to Perth.
  7. Ah thats good. Thank you. I also forgot to ask you, which country did you transit through and did you have to do any forms online for it or at the transiting airport?
  8. How do you order food from outside the hotel and pay for it?
  9. Are A380's still in operation from UK to Australia?
  10. Oh how did it go? Have you had a quote yet? We are going for a 20ft. I havent asked how long they give you to be flexible with dates-we have a house to sell so will need some flexibility.
  11. Hi all, Has anyone heard if they are doing visits to homes now for removal/shipping quotations yet? Last time I called a company mid June they said no and didnt know when, which isn't very helpful especially when trying to plan everything! If you can have people viewing your house to sell, then I can't see why removal companies can't visit your home? I don't really want to do a video link and go round our home and garden as surely it can't be as accurate as a visit in person? Although may have to resort to it if absolutely necessary.
  12. Congratulations! Lucky you's. Best of luck and hope everything goes smoothly for you.
  13. Are you there now? That's so exciting if you are!
  14. Are the borders staying closed? Though they were starting to open in July? Although WA border to international flights for holiday/working visa travellers will remain closed for some time.
  15. At the moment, with regards to his job, he has got time off over Xmas, but if the employer changes the work rotas, which he is told could very well happen by the end of October, then he will not know what his holiday period will be. As i say, if quarantine has stopped by the end of the year, it will help him hugely, but things are uncertain for now. We have all our family near Perth, so can't see why he would go anywhere else.
  16. Having had conversations with my other half, we are trying to find solutions to flights to Perth, which is proving difficult because of the current situation. After reading many threads on travel, are flights that have already been booked only liable to be changed when flying to activate your visa so that the entry date can be extended by home affairs? I think I have read that if a flight is booked nearer to the activation date and you can't go, say because of problems with your employer-not allowed to have the time off (especially if having to quarantine too) that home affairs would not extend the activation date as it's not there problem? Whilst there are flights going to Perth, the virus situation has dramatically changed my other half's employers situation and all of the shift patterns may change again later in the year, which means he may not be able to get time off for the flight. The company allocates holiday periods so he doesnt get a say. The quarantine period could prove a real problem if it's still in place by the end of January 2021. We cant even book flights because we don't know what the shift pattern are going to be like in the next 6 months! I was thinking if we contact home affairs would they give him an extension to validate. None of this is his fault and we are getting very worried. At what extent would an extension be given, the virus situation has caused no end of problems with people's jobs too. If we sell our house it wont be a problem. But if not, he cant leave his job because we have a mortgage. We have checked the email grants and there is no information at all to say who to contact if we need to get the activation date extended (London office). Does anyone have an email address or telephone number please? I'm assuming it will be Australia we need to contact, not London. Stress levels are through the roof atm!!
  17. Thank you all for your comments. I appreciate it. Xx
  18. With the pound so weak against the Aus dollar, I wonder what the future prediction is in the next 6 months? Can financial experts predict a sharp continuing decline or is it impossible with so many things going wrong in the UK? It is very worrying when we rely on a good exchange rate when we come to buy our first property in Australia. We want to remain mortgage free so every penny is crucial in the near future. Don't know what to do if the pound keeps falling, it's not looking good at all.
  19. Lucky you!! Did you sell your home and move into a rental? Kind of wish we had done that, but too late now. Just waiting to sell then we can look at flights and book shipping container. Best of luck for your future.
  20. May i ask where this information is from please? Thank you.
  21. Uncertainty for sure! We definitely want to sell, tried renting before and felt it caused too many obstacles etc..... We are just going to leave it on the market and see what happens for the rest of the year. I am getting too stressed trying to think of everything else all in one go! x
